  1. Just go and have a margarita, lol.
  2. Not every booking will be offered a Royal Up. They may send you an email over 30 days out, but if you go and check yourself without having to get an email, and your sailing isn't within 30 days, you won't be able to get into the system. Even at 30 days it may not be an option. Keep in mind that there aren't always cabins to book, and even if they send you a Royal Up offer, it doesn't mean that there are any cabins actually available to upgrade to.
  3. You can see the daily menus for the MDR in the app well before the cruise begins.
  4. Yes, always pizza, but not 24/7 on every ship. I think it closed around 2 or 3am on Odyssey. Cafe Promenade was open 24/7.
  5. Got a little time travel going on, eh?
  6. What about port stops? If you test 2 days prior to boarding going out of wherever (Boston, for example), but you don't hit a Canadian port until 3 days later, that's not having a negative test 2 or 3 days prior. That's what's throwing me off.
  7. Welcome to the forums! You just tell the bartender or waiter what soda you want and they will bring it to you.
  8. Yes, it opens at midnight EST, so anytime it's open you can check in.
  9. I've won some and lost some. It's just the way it goes. Sometimes there are rooms available, sometimes there just aren't.
  10. No, they will take one at the port if you are having trouble with it. No worries!
  11. Mine never show up on my calendar on the app. It's hit and miss whether or not they show up on the calendar in the Cruise Planner itself for me.
  12. So they've gone back and forth on the vaccination thing, but will now allow under 12 years of age to be unvaccinated. Here's the wording that confuses me: "In addition, Canada will require passengers to take a Covid-19 molecular test within 72 hours (or an antigen test within one day) of boarding a ship departing from Canada or calling at a Canadian port. Crew members and passengers will be required to self-monitor for symptoms." We leave Boston and have a few days of cruising before hitting a Canadian port (all of which would be outside of the 72 hour PCR or 1 day antigen test). https://www.cruisecritic.com/news/6805/
  13. You can be awarded your bid 2 months in advance all the way up to the day of your cruise.
  14. The most recent posted Compass is from November. https://www.royalcaribbeanblog.com/cruise-compass?ship=284 Jewel is a beautiful ship. We spent 11 nights on her in 2004 sailing to Canada/NE.
  15. Yes, they are in USD.
  16. Casual: jeans, t-shirts (no swimwear and they are not keen on sleeveless shirts for men for whatever reason, but ymmv) Smart Casual: collared shirts, polos, nice pants (even nice jeans). Formal: Jacket, dresses, skirts. However many sailings call this "Dress Your Best" and you'll see all of the above. This occurs only on select nights and only applies to the MDR. That being said, the rules are not strict and you'll see pretty much every type of dress every night in the MDR.
  17. You won't miss out. They are typically available 10-12 months out. Sometimes longer, but you won't miss it.
  18. EMed is the only service that I'm aware that proctors the Abbot Binax test. The link for testing is on the home page, no matter what device or computer you're using. If you're using a laptop (and I always do), just make sure you have a decent amount of space on your table and that you can maneuver the camera so it can see your face, and then also the table surface in front of you, where they'll want to watch you do the test. Some say it's easier to use a phone camera - I just found that gave me more to juggle with my hands. It's super easy, just make sure you have enough room so you don't accidentally knock the test onto the ground (which will invalidate it - fwiw, I lock the cat up during these tests as well so she doesn't do something dumb like jump on a table and step on it or be a cat and knock it off).
  19. There are a few computer gurus on here, but I don't know if they'll see your message before you can catch up with the VOOM desk in the morning. @twangster, maybe?
  20. I'm sorry you are having health issues. I do wish you rapid healing. Unfortunately, if a cruise is booked with a nonrefundable deposit, that's pretty much what it is unless you cover it with travel insurance. The terms are written on the invoice. Some cruises book with refundable deposits, some don't, and some give you a choice. As a consumer it is up to you to know the terms under which you are agreeing by putting money down.
  21. Yes, the dress code (loose as it is) will always be printed in the Cruise Compass the night before.
  22. You can see what restaurants are on any Royal Caribbean ship by going to www.royalcaribbean.com ----> go to the top and choose "Ships" ----> choose your ship and then scroll down to "Things to Do" - then scroll to "All Dining". This works for all of the ships! You can also see what bars and other fun things are on each ship.
  23. No, there's nothing at all like that on mine. But I've learned to just deal with not being able to see notifications. I can still see what posts need to be approved, and that's all anyone really needs from me, lol.
  24. Yes, you can bring 2 bottles per stateroom.
  25. My recommendation for Alaska is prepare for anything. It could be dry, wet, cool, or warm. Plan for layers as it can be cool and wet in the morning, and then dry up and be warm in the afternoon (or visa versa!). Last time we didn't bring enough shorts and regretted it as it was in the mid to high 70s every day. It will always be cool (cold, to those not used to it) when they go into the glaciated arms.
