I have. I guess working for various government agencies for over 30 years makes me find it neither annoying nor frustrating. I have a lot bigger annoying and frustrating things in my life.

I'm often amazed at what annoys people.

They just use it to fill cabins that don't sell or get canceled. Just because people can bid on a cabin category does not mean there is one (or will be one) available.

Do you mean on an Oasis-class ship or at onshore venues?

Ours is the same way. I personally have a hard time hanging out in one place more than 4 hours so it'll work well for us.

To be fair, when some of us suggest that people contact RC on social media, we mean message them from their social media platform. The reason for this is that you can typically get a faster response without sitting on the phone. We don't mean go onto their social media pages and bitch publicly.

What do you mean it's overbooked. Who told you it was overbooked? They really don't operate like airlines and I've never heard of a cruise being overbooked.

Use a credit card, not a debit card. There will be a hold placed on a debit card (this is true pretty much anywhere, which is why I don't use it for travel, and one reason I don't use mine in general).

It depends on if you mean with people on the ship or off the ship. On the ship you can all just get the messaging service that's through the Royal Caribbean app (I believe it's $1.99 per person per day). To communicate with others who are not on the ship you'd need to purchase Voom.

Yes, nearly everyone books their own Cruise Planner things (shore excursions, drink and dining packages, internet, spa, etc) on their own. You can even book shore excursions on your own that aren't through RC.

Birth certificates are fine.....unless and until something happens in one of the ports that would cause you to have to fly home from that country. You cannot return to the US without a passport (meaning you'd have to find your way to a US Embassy, which is very far away from Coz or Costa Maya). Things like: medical issues or injuries that could occur on shore, problems with the ship that would cause passengers to not be able to continue sailing from a port of call (hasn't happened on Royal, but has happened to passengers on an NCL ship - those with passports could fly home the next day, those without had an absolute headache). That being said, I'm not personally aware of what the new passport application turn around time is, so at this point it might be risky to try. Enjoy your first cruise! Chances are you will want more, and you might as well get a passport at some point in the near future!

This a great tip. If you let them know at the host stand that you'd like to be seated near other solo travelers, they'll likely accommodate you. Many of the tables are very close together anyway.

They will usually not seat you with others for MyTime Dining. As for waiting 30-40 minutes, I've never experienced this if I've made a reservation in advance.

Bring your marriage certificate as well.

Has she sailed from Cape Canaveral yet? I thought she started in Fort Lauderdale and then went to Europe. There are a few from there in the Cruise Compass section of this site.

I really wanted to do this last May but couldn't find the information on it in time.
