Salmon fishing excursion in Skagway
SpeedNoodles replied to SpeedNoodles's topic in Shore Excursions
The wildlife excursions are crazy expensive with him. I threw all kinds of options out to my DH, and he just wants to hang out on the ship and tool around the bustling metropolis of Skagway. We know the people who own Skagway Brewery, so we'll probably go visit them for a bit. -
Salmon fishing excursion in Skagway
SpeedNoodles replied to SpeedNoodles's topic in Shore Excursions
Well, the 2019 King Salmon season is catch and release only, so this entire thread has become moot. He's not interested in catch and release. Looks like we'll be spending the day on the ship (not the worst thing in the world!) -
Another great place to do research is TripAdvisor.com

Salmon fishing excursion in Skagway
SpeedNoodles replied to SpeedNoodles's topic in Shore Excursions
I'm not going on the excursion and he's torn between fishing and not wanting to leave me for the day (even though it's only 4 hours .. not a big deal). I'll pass along the Captain Ken info to him though. Thanks! -
Salmon fishing excursion in Skagway

Thanks, we'll look into it. I'm just concerned that if something keeps them from opening up the gangway at 0700 that his tour will leave without him. -
I got mine via email link - it was easy - click and save.

Price drop with Non Refundable Deposit

It's actually a pretty large travel agency. I think they just count on people being too stupid (me) to know better. -
My husband is thinking about booking a fishing tour in Skagway (non RCL, they aren't offering any, unfortunately). It will be his 50th birthday that day, so he's pretty excited about this. We looked up the tours by inputting our ship and date that we're sailing, so everything available that day pops up. The excursion he wants to do departs at 7:30am. The ship is supposed to dock at 0700. I emailed the excursion broker (ShoreFox) and they didn't think it was any problem for him to get to the tour since it's only a 10-minute walk from the ship to the meeting area. It's not terribly far from our port the day before (Juneau), so the chances that we don't get to port on time are probably pretty small. Is this a stupid risk to take? There's a later tour (noon-thirty) but he doesn't want to take that one because fishing is better in the morning (ok, I actually don't know if this is true for salmon in the ocean - it's definitely true for fishing in Minnesota). If he can't go on the 0730 tour he doesn't want to do it at all.

If there's no release on your CD, and if you are on Facebook, go to their official page and send them a direct message through Facebook Messenger. They are really speedy to respond through that method. https://www.facebook.com/royalcaribbean

Coco cay Oasis Cabana question
SpeedNoodles replied to Diane.M's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
We have one booked for our December girl's-week-away cruise (which is SO out of my nature - can't even believe I'm going on this) - everyone is so excited to have the cabana, even sight unseen. -
Deluxe beverage package for only one person?
SpeedNoodles replied to Julie.a's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
You can still buy alcohol for yourself, they just won't allow you to buy the package. Any drink can be purchased individually. -

I have a new one now, and I adore her! I hadn't cruised for nearly 10 years when I booked this particular cruise, hadn't found this site - I'd used the travel agency before (so many years ago), and they were listed on Royal's website as being "experts" in Royal Caribbean booking (hint: they are not even remotely - the travel agent we were assigned didn't know as much about Royal Caribbean cruising, or cruising in general, as I did, and I hadn't been on a ship in 10 years). It was an annoying error on my part, but once we're on the ship we'll be free of them ... forever. It's just advice for others that not all travel agents/agencies were created equally and hopefully I can keep someone from making the same mistake that I did. -

I tried to reprice my next cruise with THE (non-MEI-I-paid-her-a-hefty-booking-fee) travel agent a few months ago. She didn't remotely understand what I was asking and told me I was ineligible. I decided that the savings were negligible enough that it wasn't worth risking my sanity to get the box of block letters out of the toybox and spell it out for her. So, yeah, not all travel agents know how/that you can do this. -
Royal's website cruise planning
SpeedNoodles replied to TheHobbys's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
? Yep, not even close. You can do that reasonably efficiently on Royal's site, too. I know there's one travel website where you can search by room type (sort of - works marginally well when looking for solo cabins), but because they sell all cruise lines the search isn't very specific. Ah well, a girl can dream. -

Does anyone know if travel agents are able to look up cruises by room type? -

Yes, searching by room type would be awesome. I'd also like them to bring back being able to see the non-refundable price AND the refundable price at the same time, instead of having to go through an entire mock booking, entering names/emails/dob before they'll show you the refundable price. -
If the price was the same at the same time the following day you'd be better off getting a hotel on disembarkation day and enjoying Sydney for another day.

At the very least I'd take my driver's license (some official form of ID) anywhere that I get off the ship (with the exception of one of the private islands). It's just the public safety person in me.

We have newly renewed passports, and we had our photos taken at Costco (4 photos for $4.99 - works for me) and just used those photos to upload. I had no problems with it on my Mariner sailing.

Shows and entertainment are not available to book on Mariner, only Oasis and Quantum class ships. As Matt said, the Escape Room should be at some point. Keep checking (and check frequently as things like that book up very quickly).

Virtual stateroom tours
SpeedNoodles replied to Lovetocruise2002's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
Yep, exactly - pick a Symphony sailing (I picked one farther out so that the suites weren't sold out and not showing up). Oddly, there are zero virtual tours showing up now for me, even though they were earlier. Or not so oddly, since it happened to others. -
I've made reservations for Pixels (it's in the 270 venue). It's the only thing, other than RipCord by IFly, that has opened up for reservations so far for my sailing.

Virtual stateroom tours

I was able to walk through the 1 bedroom Aquasuite yesterday, now it's not available to me. I should NOT have done that. Now I want to book one.
