Are you flying in to St Maarten? If you're going there on the cruise ship, then the passport is not needed. I left my passport in my stateroom and used only my SeaPass card. However, I'm not sure if Royal will accept your dad's passport during online check-in and during check in at the port. Also, I hope you don't get into an emergency situation where you will need your passport to fly back to the US.

The availability of check in has been very unpredictable in recent days. I had another website problem too. My booking for the Freedom disappeared from my Upcoming Cruises. Then it reappeared after a few minutes.

Updated version of the Fact Sheet: @Matt, can we have a clarification on this?

My check in time on the Allure last week was 4:30PM, but I dropped off my bags with the porters about an hour earlier. The porter did not ask for the check in time, he just made sure the luggage tags were on the bags.

I got the 3-night dining package on the Allure last week. This is a downsized version of the Unlimited Dining Package. To be honest, I did not enjoy specialty dining as much as I enjoyed the Main Dining Room (which is already included in the cruise payment). The feeling that I got while I was dining at Chops Grille, Izumi, and Samba Grill was that they were trying too hard to be "special".

I second this, all the communications I've received via email and the app gave me a clear picture of what was expected of me for boarding the Allure last week. I do point out that as a prospective guest, it would take good search skills to find the information.

POST-CRUISE UPDATE: I started this blog to keep track of how I stay on the Keto diet while on a cruise. Here's where I'm at, three days after the end of the cruise. After gaining 4.6 lbs on the cruise, I've lost most of them after going back to strict keto I was kicked out of ketosis but now I'm back So to all those who would like to go on a cruise while maintaining their diet, it is doable!!!

@Matt, thanks in advance for this. I will watch the video when I am on the Odyssey in November and blog my search for these "hidden secrets" on this message board. Right now, I'm trying to stay away from Odyssey "spoilers" ha ha

I actually wandered off to an area where crew members were handing out test results. I asked about it from their supervisor. She said it was for those who needed it for their return trips.
