  1. That’s what I’m planning to do. I’m also thinking it would be less stressful to fly out from Vancouver to Florida.
  2. I tried doing a mock booking myself. The Spacious Ocean View Balcony rooms are sold out on the January 4 sailing. But I finally got ones available for April 2020. Anyway, @AshleyDillo, what did you mean "you only get two choices"? For the Spacious Ocean View Balcony, you get 3 - 2B, 4B, and 6B.
  3. I haven't paid attention to the direction of the cruise but I've seen that Glacier Bay is not in all itineraries. For those who have done the Northbound, is it easy to "fly" out of Seward? I know you have to go to Anchorage to fly out from there. How was it?
  4. But .... but .... but ... I belong to the "finish your plate" generation. Mother said I cannot leave the table until I finish my food.
  5. @Cpicc, can you please clarify if they guaranteed a "spacious oceanview balcony 2B" to you at booking? Did you mean that you booked a "2B" stateroom? Or did you actually mean that you booked a "Ocean View Balcony Guarantee", in which case the code would have been "XB"?
  6. I'm not sure whether they are contractors or employees. But it seemed like they were not on the ship with us. I think they're based in Labadee.
  7. The Humane Society wouldn't allow Oasis to get rid of Cats.
  8. I've been trying to decipher Royal's stateroom codes for a time now. Like in this case, what is the difference between a 2B and a 4B? Is there a rhyme and/or rhythm to these codes. I have a PDF of the latest recategorization grid but it looks to me like the Da Vinci Code (Cabin-Sea Code... ha ha). Has anyone here seen a video or article that explains how to interpret the grid? When the experts here are given a room code (for example "1V"), do you immediately know how the room will look like? Here are some webpages I've seen so far: http://creative.rccl.com/Sales/Royal/General_Info/17055533_Recategorization_Trade_Grid.pdf https://www.royalcaribbeanblog.com/2016/07/14/staterooms-what-are-the-difference-between-royal-caribbeans-d1-d2-d4-etc-balcony-rooms (This article is more than three years old, time for an update, @Matt?) https://www.royalcaribbeanblog.com/2017/03/01/royal-caribbean-re-categorize-all-staterooms-fleet-wide http://royalcaribbeaninternational.com.au/rcfilelibrary/files/News/17_3_8_RCI_StateroomRecategorisation.pdf (Very confusing article... at least to me)
  9. If I may add... we often hear the expression “the ship IS the destination”. On port days, the ship is not much of a destination because onboard activity is limited. Except for the pool deck, the ship feels like a ghost town on port days.
  10. From what I know, the higher the number, the farther from midship the location of the stateroom. But what do I know? Experts, what say you?
  11. I’ve been looking at sailings around March-April 2021. I don’t see lower prices at all, in fact they’re higher than 2019-2020 prices. Bearing in mind the oft-repeated advice to book early, does that mean those prices will still go up?
  12. I wish people can gift their cruise points ???

  15. I was on the Ovation early September. We had to turn back on the way to Endicott Arm/Dawes Glacier because of the fog. @firebuck was on the same itinerary two weeks later, the same thing happened to them. My waiter told me it often happens during the shoulder season. He said June-July were the best times. On the Northern Lights, some guests saw them at around 1-2 AM. I missed them because I fell asleep. I had someone Airdrop this picture to my phone.
  16. I've been watching this sailing for about 3 weeks now... The total price has been fluctuating by $50 but the (starts at) price shown is only fluctuating by a dollar or two. It's weird... makes me wonder if taxes and fees are fluctuating too.
  17. They still offer sailings with a day at sea on this itinerary. Couldn't you switch to one of those sailings, schedule permitting?
  18. Is there any advantage to letting Royal pick my room in this scenario? Is this a glitch? An intern moment?
  19. Hi All! If I had missed an episode on the blog that discusses embarkation at cruise ports, please reply with the link to the video/episode. Thanks
  20. I don't know much about spa treatments but I can definitely help you with dining questions, especially at the MDR. From the Starters Menu, I usually order a soup, a salad, the shrimp cocktail and escargot. I've ordered 3-4 servings of the shrimp cocktail and probably 2-3 escargot, in one sitting. So YES ... you can ask for several starters. ... and that's not limited to Starters! You can order more than one of the entrees. My waiter got tired of me ordering one lobster at a time on Lobster Night, he just brought me four without the sides and fancy plating!? I sure hope I wasn't being greedy!
  21. I've long wanted to prove or disprove this... but I'm too lazy to do it.
  22. For some reason, I don't want to be next door to friends I'm sailing with. ?
  23. Has it been proven that there is a price difference in standard mode vs incognito/private window mode?
