1st time cruiser - Liberty of the Seas - Sept 11
SueB replied to Salca's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
Love Liberty!!! Enjoy the ship!! -
We sail August 22 out of Alaska and have been going back and forth about doing on point testing service or just make an appointment at Walgreens and go there and get tested. I am leaning towards going to Walgreens. I have heard good things and horror stories about OnPoint, so definitely have a backup plan. In my research, I found out that OnPoint has a location in Seattle where you can get tested. So being in their time zone might be beneficial.

Quantum of the Seas Engine Issues
SueB replied to Vincent's topic in Royal Caribbean News and Rumors
Excursions for 8/22 sailings are now posted for Ketchikan in cruise planner. -
Thanks Chris. I was disappointed when I found out you were working on Ovation and not Quantum! We are booked on Quantum next month. Would have been nice to meet you!!
-
We are sailing to Alaska in late August and I'm hoping we will not require testing!! So, I'll book my testing appointment mid-August if nothing has changed. So thanks for the information. We have a few test kits from the government that I would like to use, instead of paying more to have it done.

We are on Quantum in a couple of weeks and I have been researching the ship and ports for the past year. I booked an excursion on Black Friday and it was recently cancelled. All excursions through Royal are sold out for that port. I know this is not Royal's issue, it is the vendor that supplies the excursions. Disappointed, yes!!! But, I went and booked through a third party on my own. My philosophy for this trip is to take responsibility for my trip, know that things can change. I feel blessed that my husband and I have the opportunity to this fantastic trip. I have researched ports, watched multiple youtube videos on the ship and excursion, many, many great suggestions from everyone on this platform (thanks Matt). Yes, staffing is an issue. That is across the board, so be prepared. The ship will be sailing close to, if not more than capacity. I know this cause I check daily to see what rooms are still available!!!

We are sailing on Quantum out of Alaska in a couple of weeks. I go back and forth. We are both vaxed and double boosted!. I know that will not prevent us from catching COVID, but working in health care and wearing a mask every day, I'm ready to take it off!!! I would do what is best for you.

I booked a shore excursion for my August cruise in Alaska back in November when Black Friday deals. My excursion was recently cancelled and now my on-board credit is showing as "Pre-Onboard Credit". Will this be available for me to use on the cruise? All other excursions for Icy Strait Point a sold out, so I had to book a whale watching through Viator. There is nothing else precruise I need to pay for to use it before we cruise. I will not cancel a different excursion, since all are sold out at other ports and don't want to risk losing it.

Dolphin/stingray city in Grand Cayman
SueB replied to 1sttimecruiserhere's topic in Shore Excursions
We did the excursion that went to Hell, Turtle sanctuary and Stingray City. Loved it! Stingray City was worth it! The water was slightly choppy, but there were stingrays all around us. This was why I booked this itinerary, just to see the stingrays. -

Oasis Class - Junior Suite J3 5 Guests?
SueB replied to derbscruises's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
Not sure what ages your children are, but the benefit of two rooms is that you have two washrooms. Which would be beneficial with a family of 5! -
We are sailing in August and booked the White Pass, Gold Panning and Dog Sled excursion on Royal's site via cruise planner.
-
The letter says onboard product below. What did they cancel, all your shore excursions??? I am on Quantum in August, nothing yet.

Endicott Arm Fjord and Glacier Explorer Excursion
SueB replied to ChanaC's topic in Shore Excursions
Thanks for the update! I'm happy I booked this excursion. I had a whale watch for Juneau and cancelled and booked this one. We are planning on having leisure afternoon at Mendenhall Glasier. Just go at our own pace! -
I just registered my bags for pickup for our August cruise. I would check in with guest services if you didn't get the appropriate luggage tags and boarding passes.

Ovation of the seas to Alaska- Not so live blog (May 5, 2022)
SueB replied to iluvwineandtravel's topic in Live Blogs
Great pictures! We are on Quantum for our first trip to Alaska. For the luggage delivery to the airport, is there a charge? Will they do any airlines? We are flying SWA and this sounds like the way to go!! -
I am booked on Quantum of the Seas in August. It is the same itinerary as your sailing. Icy Strait we are booked for the raft trip, Juneau for the Dawes Glacier and Endicott Arm Fjord and Skagway for the Gold Panning, Sled Dogs and Exclusive Scenic Railway. I did book mine though my cruise planner. If you are booking through a third party, make sure to check the pickup and drop off time. I was looking at one and it would have dropped us off at the time of departure from the port.
