  1. I have been on a number of RC ships and carried on the two bottles of wine that are allowed. The rules state that there will be a corkage fee charged but I have never had that fee applied. Have things changed after the return-to-sail and are they now charging $15 a bottle just to unscrew the top?
  2. It must have changed recently
  3. I just got a $100 RC gift certificate for Christmas. Woohoo. I am planning on using it as OBC for a cruise in 2024. What happens if I put this GC on a cruise and then I cancel the cruise at final payment date? I guess I could just hang onto it and only use it once I have made final payment, but I am still wondering about what would happen to it in that case. I know someone here knows the answer.
  4. I have found that many of the outlets in the bathroom turn off when the lights are turned off. They won't work to power a nightlight.
  5. My wife and I enjoyed Rose Hall.
  6. I was checking out a 8 night Harmony OTS cruise for Nov 2024. The surcharge for refundable deposit for a junior suite was $2k. Outrageous.
  7. I want to surprise my wife with a 7 day pass for the Thermal Suite on Allure OTS. When I go to purchase, I am required to pick a time on day 1. Why? If it is a 7 day pass can't she just show up when she wants or is a reservation required each time she wants to go in the sauna?
  8. In 2019 I went to Juneau. Rather than booking a glacier helicopter tour through RC I booked directly with Coastal Helicopters. I saved about 50% off the RC cost. I am pretty sure that it was exactly the same tour that RC offered. I booked it so that the tour started about 1 hr after docking. We got back to Juneau with about 4 hr to spare before departure. Plenty of time to walk around the town and no anxiety about being a "pier runner".
  9. I always like the Hilton Houston NASA Clear Lake
  10. Rumor has it that Allure OTS will start next week
  11. HI there. Steven and Moselle from Lakeway, TX. We too sail out of Galveston because of the convenience, not necessarily because of the itinerary. We are going to be on this cruise with four friends but look forward to meeting everyone. Love the Oasis class ships.
  12. I have been running MyVegas for a while now and have quite a few points. Looking at the cruise prizes, they kinda stink. A million points for a 3 night Mexico cruise? But they do have attractive offers for OBC. Can I use more than one OBC offer for a single cruise? Like maybe 4 or 5 to pay for some excursions?
  13. I think the primary difference is history. The old ones have the ship towed through the canal by the locomotives and it is just more reminiscent of the old days. As a history buff, and Pamana Canal newbie, old is good.
  14. I am considering booking the Radiance OTS October 2022 Panama Canal cruise. I cannot find anywhere on the RC site information about the transit. Does anyone know whether she uses the old or new locks?
  15. I just watched Matt's vlog about sailing on older ships. I have only sailed on voyager, freedom and oasis class ships. I know that these ships are amazingly stable because of the active stabilization, big wings that stick out underwater to counteract the rocking of the ship. Are the older ships, radiance and vision class, actively stabilized like the newer ships? If not, is there a problem with excessive rocking? I have been in fairly heavy seas (20 ft) in the newer ships with no nausea issues and I am wondering how much the older ships rock. TIA
  16. No Hairspray on the Mar 5 cruise
  17. Be forewarned. We were in St Thomas last week. You have to wear a mask if you go indoors anywhere. Outside, no mask.
  18. I just sailed on Symphony OTS, my first Oasis class ship. It was amazing.
  19. Symphony on 3/5 - 3/12, 3500 pax
