@LetsTryThisTech yea we love flying out of buffalo when possible! We're in Oakville, so only like 20-25 min from pearson, and right now, air canada is actually the cheapest i can find! $1140 CAD per person round trip ($570 each way), which surprised me as theyre notorious for being expensive

That's actually not too bad considering its Air Canada. From Cayman to Pearson on a sale I can get Westjet around $400 US round trip but on sale, Air Canada is around $1000 US :51_scream: Plane tickets are unlike cruise bookings in that it's more luck of the draw and can't really ask for a discount later. So good luck hunting.

  2. I agree with @Sabrinaklai that extra drive (when I lived in Hamilton actually was around the same if the border was clear) was well worth the savings. The cheapest I ever found out of Toronto was Westjet everything else was so high. I would recommend buffalo or if closer to London check Detroit as well. Also wow flies pretty cheap from Toronto (been checking to visit family before Europe trip)

Is this common all year round? I am learning so much from your trip reports! Is this a winter issue or should I expect this could happen in April too?

Living in Cayman we have a backup port on the other side of the island that is normally better tender conditions for when the main port is closed due to weather. You have the chance all year round for a port closure but normally its what we call northeasters (coming from the North with cold windy conditions that don't seem to like our warm climate.) These normally bring small craft advisories so no tenders. As the other port is right near my house and I can see the boats from my house as I head to work, I would say I have seen a lot more there since around November. So from that, I would say (at least this year) its been a *rough winter. No in April there might be some rain but I think you should be okay.

I used Teamviewer on Anthem of the Seas and had no issues logging into work.

That's great news I saw something in the post @Matt shared about chrome desktop so might set that up as a backup. Was going to leave my good laptop home but think I might take it just in case. Better to have limited work access then find out I have none at all lol.

Actually, Delta was very accommodating as well.  When my sister notified them at the gate of the allergies, they made an announcement prior to boarding that no nuts would be served and also asked for everyone's cooperation to not eat nuts.

Wow, I honestly have never had that happen. They pretty much said well just ask the person next to you not to (thankfully the smell only makes me uncomfortable and itchy so not severe (unless ingested) so it was okay but ya I have never had anyone do that. (although it has been awhile since on Delta).

It's doable. I'm gluten and casein (in dairy) intolerant - and since only intolerant I indulge (not everyday) anyway. I pay the price but it's not like someone who has celiac's where it's not an option.

This is me with gluten. I avoid it 99% of the time but in a situation like a cruise I may not necessarily go out of my way but will try to stick to gluten-free when possible. But my EpiPen and Benadryl are my best friends for nuts. Now my biggest question is the stops.

Sorry @Jacque for going off topic.

Oh my goodness !  How does one cook without wheat and dairy !  That would be awful.  I'm so happy to hear that they were so careful.  It says a lot

It is much easier then I would say a couple years ago. I'm gluten intolerant and on many of the gluten-free brands, they are also dairy and nut free. I am guessing if you are already doing one it works out better to do them all and to be honest they taste just as good for the most part. But yea it would be difficult. (hopefully not affected by smell that would be really hard now too, look at planes)

  7. Hi All,

I use teamviewer regularly for work. I own my own business so I need to be able to access my work computer to answer customers emails. So I was hoping someone has been able to have some type remote desktop system. Our local (terrible) internet provider makes us use their modem, so not really able to modify it and I don't really want to get another piece of hardware unless it is absolutely necessary. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  8. To add to @Matt NYE is a busy time and will have more people on board so that can also be a factor. That being said you should be able to find a more quiet spot to relax. If you are wanting to take part in the main NYE activities I would believe there would be alcohol in the main area. I have not been on an NYE cruise but this is an observation from past cruises and from living in the Caribbean tourist area.

Is it really an option to just pay the upcharge for the alcohol on Anthem if you have the refreshment package? I just figured you would pay full price for alcoholic drinks.

Not sure of every ship but I think so. RCL has confirmed (but we all know how phone confirmation is) and normally a $5-$7 up fee for alcohol but it might depend on the drink. I'm not sure something like a rum and coke would apply since the soda is not really any extra. I have not done this yet but will be doing it on my March cruise since it would work out MUCH cheaper for me.

  10. I have a question for kids activities (We don't have kids yet but plan to soon, just getting some travelling out first lol) did your kids do any kids activities? If so how did they compare?

Our son has a severe tree nut allergy.

I too have severe nut allergies and that has always been the best part. Even with the buffet, if they weren't sure they would bring out the chief and confirm or in the case of desert (more common to have nuts) would make a whole new batch.

My TA is allways sent me email back when I asked something to email her.  That all......sad.

There are many great ones and many bad ones. That's why I say to shop around. If they seem like they care about you, they are more likely to actually take care of all your needs. Where you get some who act like your bothering them by talking to them. (If its the latter run... run fast lol)
