  1. We got notified by our TA on Monday! We elected to move to the Allure sailing the same dates...Just out of Miami now and a different itinerary.  Just replied back to our TA email with our choice and they made it happen...No fuss or muss.  Got 200 OBC!

We had booked this cruise over over a year ago to intrudce or son and family to cruising.  We had connecting ocean balcony’s but now now we are on separate decks but with the same category rooms.  We are not going to let this ruin our cruise.  After so many years in the military...Ive learn that S#*” happens. Adapt and overcome.

Are you sure you have the dates right?  March 29, 2019 is a Friday.  Oasis leaves on Sundays in March 2019 and all those sailings still show up as available on their site.  If you meant March 29, 2020, that sailing also still shows as available?

I fat fingered the date it’s the 31st of March 2019...Thanks for pointing that out

  3. We are on this cruise and hearing two different rumors even though we haven’t heard anything from Royal.  Has anyone heard anything?

Rumor One  Some passengers are being notified the cruise is canceled because the Oasis needs maintenance maintenance...Strange during spring break.  This is being done by Royal to make room for some special group booking.

Romor Two is the cruise is canceled for maintenance.

  4. I have seen it both ways.  One time they said our newby son and wife could join us in line.  Other times, we were told no for some friends.  We will jump in what ever line is the shortest even though we are Diamond.  But we always wait for them before getting on the ship...So we can get on together.

We will be on the ship with you next week...Can’t wait to get back to the ABC Islands ?

Is is possible to rent snorkeling equipment on Labadee or do we have to bring our own? I realize the snorkeling is not great there but my grandaughter wants to try it and the family does not want to go on an excursion or get off at the other ports.

To be honest...I can’t remember if they do our not.  I have and bring my own equipment...I know they have a snorkel excursion.  Depending on the age of your grand daughter, I would recommend picking up a cheap set at Wally World.  The snorkeling is not the greatest but I always snorkel at Lanadee...I love Nellies Beach! Always see fish around the rocks...Some times I have good visibility some times I don’t.   Labadee is one of my favorite stops.  I use to love Cococay but RCCL has destroyed the charm of the island in my opinion.  From what I’ve been reading, they are going to turn it in to a RCCL Disney Land?

First of all, i apologize for the silly 101-questions, this is first time i am sailing and found this board to rescue me.

Here we go: My reservation is for the Oasis of the sea Eastern Caribbean cruise (7 nights) on the 20th of May. Occean view balcony (14th deck)

    1) Beverage packages: From what i read, there should be some discounts/sale at some point, but it has been 2 months now since i made the reservation and i've not seen any discounts on the packages [ deluxe package remains to be at $55/p) and both people in the same room must purchase it? now my wife(to be) doesn't drink much alcohol, why shall i purchase her a deluxe package, is there anyway around this?

    2) I am really lost when it comes to food on the ship!!! I read a couple of topics about dinner and that there are 2 options for that. What about breakfast and lunch? what are the restaurants on board and what times do they operate? are they all included in the package or do we pay extra?

    3)  In the plan my cruise website, when i check the dining options, the website says I cannot reserve this right now, does it open reservation a certain time before cruise day?

    4) It says that the ship starts sailing 4.30 PM on the 20th of May, what is the latest time i can check in the ship? How long does the process take?

    5) Internet package - shall i purchase that package now, or wait for a discount as well for this?

    6) Do you recommend i choose/buy my off shore excursions now, or wait to find deals on the ship?

    7) The cruise itinerary is Orlande, Labadee, St. Maartin and San Juan - Do you recommend any in particular shore excursions?

    8) Shall i pay the gratitude package from now as well or do it on ship? i don't really understand the system.

Thanks a lot for your help and once again i apologize for these questions, i am sure they were answered 100 of times before. Also if you have any advice for first timers, it would be great.

    cheers:)

    1. As others have said...watch your cruise planner because the price will change

    2.  On Oasis, The Wipeout Cafe is always a great choice for breakfast.  You can order eggs/omelets and it takes a few days for the new cruisers on Oasis to learn about It.  Jonny Rockets is another good choice

    3. One of the first things we do after we get on the ship is to head to the dining room and find our table.  If don’t like it or our dining time...We ask for a change while we are there.  If you want to eat at any of the Specialty Restaurants, you can to the one your interested in and sign up.   They will also have signup tables all over the ship.

    4. We like to get to the port early and drop our bags off.  We then drive to Park and Cruise drop the car off...Have a cold beer...The Women have their Formosa’s  Then we hop on the shuttle for the short trip back to the ship.

    5. You just need to watch your cruise planner for the internet package to go on sale. We did get a super deal one cruise...Got the drink package and internet package combined for less the going drink package.

    6. We usually buy our tours on ship...Except for our Alaska cruise.  They we so expensive we wanted to pay or them before the cruise. Book your onboard shows as soon as you can.  The Oasis has its own SMALL comedy club and if you don’t have reservations, you might not get in.

I think you will like the Oasis...Its huge with a lots of people but lots of places to avoid the crowds.

THat was my impression, but I was hoping things had changed in 25 years.  I also remember not being thrilled about Nassau in 1993 and I would say it was better than I remembered but not a favorite.  But that's a good point, if there's a stop at both Nassau and Freeport, turn the later into a "sea day" and do something (even a walking tour) at Nassau.

I’m not sure if cruisers are aware of rise in the crime rate in  Nassau...Its gone thru the roof. I’m not sure why it’s still a cruise ship stop.  We will be there 18th of next month (Nov) on the Majesty of the Seas.  We will enjoy the onboard activity’s of the ship but we may do some shopping in the port

We'll be on the Explorer to Alaska in June, and I was curious if people have experience with the drink package on this particular cruise. Since it isn't the typical "fruity drink" destination, do people get their money's worth?  I'm not too worried about it, and not having to worry about the end-of-cruise surprise bill is a plus, but I do wonder...:35_thinking:

I guess it’ll depend on your drinking style.  We did that cruise in June and we both had the drink package.  I’m not sure if we drank as much as we do in the Caribbean but I think we broke even. To use it was worth the price just for not having to worry about our bill.  We booked the cruise over a year out and had everything paid for before we sailed...Including Shore excursions, Airfare and our booze package.
