    Day 5 - Nassau
I woke early while it was still dark out and spotted a couple ships in the distance lining up to arrive into port.
As the sun rose I could make out the familiar shape of an RCI ship in the distance.

As she entered the harbor I realized it's Majesty of the Seas who we met upon our arrival in Port Canaveral a few days ago.

I'm trying to arrange a cruise on her but since she only does shorter cruises and I have to fly to Florida so I am struggling to find the right combination of ships and dates as I plan a 'Tour de Petite Ships'.

An NCL ship also arrived into port this morning.
I have a smile on my face today.  While many on board are waking up to the realization they only have two nights left, I still have two weeks.

I ended up having an impromptu lunch yesterday with our Cruise and Entertainment Directors in two70.  They had been pretty busy coming up with activities since we missed our call on Coco Cay.  Dennis Charles has worked on all ships except Ovation over the past 30 years.  You can tell he loves his job and Royal Caribbean.
The Kummel Weck in cafe270 remains a favorite sandwich for lunch.
two70 is a nice spot to hangout and there were families, singles reading books and couples snoozing.  There is a Library off the 2nd level of two70.   I'm waiting for some better pictures of two70 before going on too much about two70 but it is a great venue and unique to the Quantum class ships.
We arrived into Nassau around noon.  A classic photo many people take is the lighthouse on the barrier island that protects the harbor.  Lighting wasn't perfect today but I knew we would depart after sunset tomorrow so I captured it anyways:

It was very humid and had rained prior to our arrival and I was treated to a rainbow off my balcony.

Sunset was around 5:20pm tonight.  This guy on the Flowrider was pretty good.

We had three other ships in port with us and since we are spending the night here we watched all of them sail away one by one like a parade of ships.  First to depart was a Carnival ship.

The Disney Wonder which I sailed a long time ago.

    Finally the Disney Dream.

I enjoy spending a night in port, it gives you an opportunity to see things from a different perspective.

Back to the ship for my 8:30pm My Time reservation.  This was my first trip to the MDR, deck 4 American Icon.

had the Duck Breast, Caesar Salad and Roasted Veal Medallions.  It was a very good meal.  My wait staff Jimy and Nives were very good but you could tell they were also very busy.

I didn't feel like a rich dessert so opted for some orange sherbet.
On my way back to my cabin I popped into the music hall to see a bit of 'Groovy Town' the 70's dance party:

    Day 4 - Coco Cay
Pretty decent headwind as I woke up but small seas.  Hoping we would make Coco Cay but as the morning progressed it was looking a lot less likely.

Watching our arrival from the Solarium when the Captain announced the good news and the bad news.  Good news - we found Coco Cay!  The bad news - weather conditions would not allow tendering operations.   I was expecting this and was left with a choice.  Complain and threaten a near mutiny (as I heard some guests grumble) or come up with plan B.  So I immediately implemented plan B and grabbed a mimosa.  I was supposed to go scuba diving in Coco Cay so I had avoided my morning mimosa.  I had also loaded up with coral-friendly sun screen which isn't the nicest sunscreen to use but when diving or swimming in the Caribbean it's what I use.  It leaves a white pasty layer on your skin so I only use it when required. Pale as a ghost from the coral safe sunscreen I found myself at the Solarium bar.
I managed to grab a few photos of the Coco Cay pier construction as we continued on to Nassau where we will overnight instead of calling on Nassau just tomorrow. The pier is scheduled to begin taking ships in June of next year to avoid this exact issue - missed calls due to risky tender operations.

I thought I had spotted some new construction on Coco Cay towards the undeveloped end of the island:

But between rain showers it became evident those were just work ships and barges taking shelter on the other side of the island:

Soon after a line of storms helped to wash the salt off the ship. I've never understood why people get upset when a last minute itinerary changes happens due to weather. It happens.

Luara our Loyalty Ambassador just called.  They fixed my Freedom points and will manually update my status for the next cruise of this B2B to Diamond so that I will have standard Diamond benefits.  That's huge and much appreciated as the drink package for a 12 night cruise is kind of expensive, almost $800 with Voom.  I have my 4 bottles of wine I'm saving since I have the drink package on this 7 nighter so between Diamond nightly drinks and my 4 bottles of wine I am set.  I can always buy a frozen drink or beer mid-day and still come out way under the cost of the drink package. Thanks Royal! (and Luara).

I didn’t want to commit to a live blog and fail to update it, so I thought I might add my thoughts in a final wrap up about my recent 7 day Harmony sailing.  I found this blog and reviews to be so helpful in maximizing my own cruise experience.
Pre-Cruise: We flew in the night before and stayed at the Best Western Airport Hotel.  Husband got a good rate through his employer.  If we had been staying in Fort Lauderdale longer I probably wouldn’t recommend this hotel.  It is pretty basic but served its purpose well – a bed, a hot shower, free airport transfer, free breakfast, and port transportation for a price ($8pp).   Cruise port transfer was well organized and departed the hotel at 10:30AM.
Embarkation: Previously sailed out of Port Canaveral and Galveston on Carnival.  Embarkation at Port Everglades was the quickest and best experience.  From hotel to on board the ship, the process took about 50 minutes – and our shuttle dropped some Norwegian passengers off before us! We didn’t pack light (2 large suitcases, 2 carry-ons and a suit bag) so we were happy to see the porters waiting next to the shuttle drop off to take our bags.  I took some readers’ advice and ordered plastic luggage tags off of Amazon, so I wasn’t as worried about paper tags falling off as I have been on prior cruises.   We sailed through the embarkation process.  I don’t think we stopped moving except to check-in at the desk.
First impressions:  Harmony is a gorgeous ship.  I’ve cruised 3 times with Carnival and I don’t know how I can go back to such a cramped, stuffy ship.  I love the open air design of Central Park and the Boardwalk.  The ship only felt crowded on the first afternoon following the muster drill and during promenade events.  Otherwise, you wouldn’t really know 6,409 guests were on board!
Muster Drill: I appreciated being in an air conditioned theater watching corny but hilarious hand washing videos instead of standing outside in the sun.
Room: We had a virtual balcony on the 10th floor near the elevators, 10446.  I read some cruise critic complaints about the location being too noisy but we didn’t have any problems with noise near the elevators.  Despite our over packing, EVERYTHING fit in a drawer, closet or shelf and all pieces of luggage fit under the bed! The virtual balcony was neat, but I found its timing to be a little off.  During sunrise/sunset, the image of the sky was pitch black on the screen.
Specialty Dining:  We took advantage of the $30 BOGO offer booked pre-cruise.  I took the advice of bloggers and went straight to the main dining room once on the ship to book our restaurants.  We were pre-booked at Sabor for Night #1, but were able to change it to Wonderland.  We were also able to get 150 CP for Night #2, although at a slightly later time than we had hoped (8:30PM vs the desired 6-7:30 window).  On the 4th day, after some so-so MDR food, we tried booking at Chops, but it was sold out for the rest of the cruise.   Note for our next cruise – book in demand venues early! We had lunch at Sabor on the last day and were able to walk right up and get a table.
Wonderland:  We thought it was excellent. My husband had to talk me into this one as I hate seafood.  I thought the dishes were delicious.  I posted some photos on the FB dining page.
150 CP:  Very good.  I loved the flavored bread salts.  We had the 18oz steak which was good, but based on reviews, I had higher expectations.  But, the cucumber martini and service more than made up for it!
Sabor: For a $46 lunch, we were determined to get our money’s worth – and we did.  We saved Sabor for the last day.  We demolished the chips and guac (so good).  We ordered 3 appetizers (those bacon wrapped chicken things are amazing), 2 tacos, a quesadilla, 2 sides and 2 desserts :)   We didn’t polish it all off, but we came close.  Needless to say we didn’t need dinner and skipped the MDR that night.   The White Sangria at Sabor is delicious and my favorite drink on the ship.
MDR: Royal has room for improvement.  The servers seemed a little stressed and the dining room a little chaotic each night.  Some meals were good, some ok, and one steak from the classics menu was downright inedible.  Since we couldn’t go to Chops we did order the upgraded Chops filet and found that to be quite good.  We didn’t try the MDR for breakfast or lunch.
Fitness Center/Vitality Cafe – I try and stay pretty active so I caught some morning track runs on port days.  Harmony has a great track and I loved watching our arrival into the ports.  The gym was crowded on sea days but overall a very nice fitness center with lots of cardio and weight equipment.  The Vitality Café outside of the gym always seemed to have a line, but that might be because the fresh juices, protein shakes and snacks were great (those granola bars – yum).  We had the drink package and we were not charged for the protein powder.
Spa:  Beautiful facility.  We bought the thermal suite package for $199/couple and used it every day.  The thermal suite consisted of a heated relaxation bed, steam, sauna and rain shower.  We would purchase the thermal suite again.  It provided a daily dose of relaxation for the price of 1 person to get a 75 minute massage.    You are also provided with a salt scrub to use in a rain shower.   Near the end of the cruise we took advantage of a “Happy Hands and Feet” special.  $69 for a relaxing 50 minute foot scrub and foot/hand massage.
Bars/Drinks:  Overall, the drinks on the cruise were great, so much variety in the bar menus.  My only complaint would be the lack of consistency between bars.  A few times different bartenders would make the same drink differently, despite having the ingredients posted in the drink book.  I would like to see more attention paid to keeping the freestyle machines restocked.  They frequently ran out of diet beverages.
Vintages: This was one of my favorite spots of the cruise as I love wine.  I would have liked to see more variety on the by the glass menu, it was a little cab-heavy – although they were all good.  Vintages has this neat little wine sampling system where you can purchase 2, 4 or 6 oz pours.  A little pricey though and you can’t use the drink package to offset the cost.  The cheapest 2 oz pour was $8 and the most expensive 6oz pour was $300!
Sorrentos:  Maybe it’s because I usually deprive myself of pizza in favor of healthier options when I’m not on vacation, but I loved Sorrentos. We ate here every day – sometimes we were even sober!
Activities: We did the water slides, zip line, abyss, rock climbing and mini golf.  Mini golf got a little out of hand with kids running through the course while we were playing.  Overall, we liked the activities on the ship.  We tried booking the escape room mid cruise but it was booked solid for the rest of the cruise.  Lesson learned for our next cruise – book early!
Shows:  Comedy show and juggling headliner were great.  Columbus was cute, I liked how they incorporated modern music. The aqua show was not my cup of tea.   We sat in the back and left after 20 minutes.  Although, the man twirling in a skirt for 15 minutes straight without passing out was a bit impressive.  We skipped Grease and the ice show.  Not a show but we went to the Silent Disco party on formal night – HILARIOUS.
Ports:  Nassau is meh (been there, done that).  St. Thomas has gorgeous views.  Our excursion was cancelled before the cruise, so we took a cab up to Mountain Top, drank banana daiquiris and on the way back down he stopped at a few spots for photos.  My husband tipped a steel drum player and he gave us his CD.  We plan on listening to it when we’re craving those vacation vibes.  We could see the beautiful Magen’s Bay and want to go back and visit that beach someday.  As we drove up to Mountain Top the hurricane devastation was evident.  You could see partially sunken boats, collapsed buildings, downed trees and power lines.  Labadee is a little slice of heaven and by far my favorite cruise port.  It is just perfect.  No sales people yelling at you once you’re off the ship.  Towels, beach chairs, good food and drinks included (if you have the beverage package).  We went parasailing (A+++), hung out at Adrenaline Beach, and drank a bunch of labadoozies.    We set our parasail appt for 10:30 so we grabbed lunch once it ended at 11:30.  I’m glad we got there early because lunch lines got long.
Thanksgiving:  We celebrated turkey day on the ship.  They had a thanksgiving dinner option (great turkey dinner, so-so pumpkin pie) and cut a gigantic chocolate cake in the promenade following a Christmas tree lighting.  They decorated for Christmas while we were on the ship.
Next Cruise office:  We loved this mega ship so much that we booked a May 4,, 2019 sailing on the Symphony.  We’ll visit 3 ports we haven’t seen yet (St. Maarten, San Juan and Coco Cay).   We booked a Central Park Balcony on deck 12 for $2,175 (includes free lunch at Jamie’s and a bottle of wine) and a $200 OBC.  Sounded like a deal to me, but I’m new to Royal so what do I know :)

I ventured off the ship earlier to scout locations where I might get a decent night photo of Anthem since we are here until 9pm. While looking around I saw a painter hanging around aft, just randomly painting parts of her rear.  This photo gives you an idea just how 270, two70 really is. Love those aft loft suites above two70 as well.

Back on board and waiting for sunset I caught Northstar in action:

Here is the photo I took from the DCL parking garage after dark once the mouse infested ship got out of the way:

After that back to the ship.  I missed my MTD reservation and my cabin was being cleaned when I returned so I ventured off to the Solarium and was pulled into the Solarium Bistro for dinner.  Quite good and not busy.

So far smooth seas.  I use the Windy app and the website Ventusky.com to forecast wind and waves.   I don't tend to get motion sickness.  Between my next 2 weeks and my return to Anthem in January I may get some waves, or maybe not.  So far, so good.

We have arrived in Port Canaveral!
After taking the photos in the Grand Loft Suite I headed forward to take in our arrival from the Solarium.

Majesty of the Seas is in port today.  The two ships saluted each other with a blast of their horns as we sailed past.

Today we will be beside a Disney ship on the other side of the port compared to Majesty.

From my port side balcony I can see Cape Canaveral and the shuttle building in the distance. I think that was the shuttle building.

While closed at this time of night, Northstar's prominent presence contributes to the ambiance of the pool deck at night.

The indoor pools were also closed this late at night but they illuminate them to add to the vibe of Anthem at night.

Then off to the Solarium which is very relaxing at night.  The main multi-level tiered pool was closed for cleaning but there were some hot tubs still open with guests enjoying them.

    Day 2 - Sea Day
Breakfast is the MDR today.  I sat with a nice couple from PA.  Service was a bit slow. My Eggs Benedict tasted fine, but one the egg was off the muffin and a dime sized spot of hollandaise sauce was under the egg where it sat on the plate.  It's like the Egg Benedict robot machine had a malfunction and went haywire.  Oh well, I managed to re-assemble it properly.
I had a talk with the loyalty ambassador this morning, Luara.  That's her name despite her badge that reads Laura.  She explained its a Brazilian name but everyone gets it wrong including RCI.  I was trying to get my Freedom points fixed as I didn't get my double for cruising solo.  I also asked if there were any way I could get Diamond for the 2nd leg of the B2B since technically this cruise, the 1st leg will cross the threshold.  She had to email corporate for that request.  They can't or don't do anything on the ship.   She promised to let me know.
The enhanced cleaning efforts kept the crew busy on day one.  The cup that comes with the drink package wasn't in my cabin, neither was my Voom code until late last night.  No water from the C&A society.  Luara explained they are running behind because of the cleaning efforts.
From here I explored the ship a bit. Deck 14 near the elevator bank has a glass floor section that looks straight down to deck 5.  Here it from deck 15:

Here is the adult only Solarium.

Anthem has an indoor pool which makes it great for the NYC market in the winter.  Likewise Ovation will be a perfect fit for Alaska in 2019 (sister ship).  This pool is family friendly.

Flowrider is aft with great views.

I'll do more on Windjammer another day as i haven't eaten there yet.  Here is the WJ outdoor table section at the aft.

Lastly the Sky Bar near the main outdoor pools.

More to come.  Time for lunch, and a beverage.

When you first walk in you immediately have the stairs but no full 2 story window greeting you.  I think that's why Oasis class loft suites seem more open.  From the entrance straight forward is the starboard balcony.  From the main entrance you turn right to enter the main living room.
I've updated the photos after a 2nd trip back with fewer crowds.

After my 9pm dinner I went walking around the ship to burn off a handful of calories.  It's Sunday night and football was still playing on the outdoor screen.

There is a colorful swing in the Solarium.

I think I like this Solarium the best of any ship I've sailed.

Next a stop in Vintages before they closed for the night.

Vintages and Jamie's Italian are located in The VIA and it's a wonderful use of geometric shapes and lighting.

One last look at the elevator bank this time looking up before heading to bed.

Last night I ate in Wonderland.  My 1st experience with Wonderland.

The menu is presented blank and you have to paint it with special water provided to view the menu.

I had five or six appetizers (they are small) and the Branzino fish entree.

Food was great, but with nothing but a shear curtain between me and the Esplanade right behind me, I couldn't hear my waiter Peter at times due to offers for discounted watches and jewelry sales coming soon booming over the speakers.  Don't miss it! It really took away from an otherwise nice dining experience.  My advice?  Do Wonderland on Harmony.
Back to today.  Great day at sea.  I checked out two70, the amazing venue at the aft of the ship. During the day there are great panoramic views aft.

Anthem still has outdoor promenade decks on each side of the ship where you can get out and feel the sea.  There are some small areas with chairs, smoking on one side of the ship, non-smoking on the other side.

I finally met the man, the myth, the legend... @Big Dawg Ron.  Where else but in the pub.  If you don't follow his Periscopes, you should. Note the bottle of Kraken in play.  @Matt should be proud.  He was wearing his Royal Caribbean Blog T-shirt too!

The top tier event was in two70.  Note it was at 4:30pm and still daylight outside.  They have incredible projection technology that turns the windows seen in the above photos of two70 into projection screens.  The senior officers were presented to us.

    1,609 crew on board
    1,099 Platinum
    209 Emerald
    340 Diamond and Diamond Plus
Top cruisers on this cruise has 1,370 C&A points if I wrote that down properly (free drinks at top tier).
Towards the end of the event they presented the current fleet sailing virtually behind us using projection technology.

Note how the house lights track the mood of the projected scene.  Cool technology.
Then they added more ships including those retired from the fleet.  @Big Dawg Ron scoped it.  Check it out!  As they named each ship folks cheered if they had sailed on them.

Formal night tonight.  Time to get ready.  I have Spectra's Caberet followed by Chops Grille.
Before I go, here is the elevator bank from deck 10:
