  6. In response to the CDC news last night, Celebrity executives are meeting today to start picking which ships will sail first.
  7. There are two excursions options typically offered from Cozumel. The Mayan ruins on Cozumel island are legit but have been reduced to very little over time. The Mayan ruins on the mainland are also legit and more substantial but they require a ferry ride from the island of Cozumel across a channel that can be rough at times. Once across the channel you board a bus for a long ride to the ruins. It makes for a long day and if you are susceptible to seasickness the ferry ride may not be very enjoyable. If your cruise included a stop at Puerto Maya I'd recommend doing the ruins from there since that is already on the mainland. In your case you can do them from Cozumel but be aware which one you book and the journey involved with reaching the better ruins on the mainland.
  8. One ship in a fleet doubles pricing. This is one where we will have to agree to disagree.
  9. One unvaccinated person infected on a ship will blow up in the media and end up costing cruise lines hundreds of millions should the CDC step back in and declare them closed again. Just the bad press from a claim of an infection from a cruise will cost all cruise lines a hit to stock prices and a drop in bookings. That's a direct hit to their bottom line. The absolute last thing any cruise line can afford is a case or claim of a case aboard a ship. I respect everyone's individual choice for or against getting a vaccine. I also respect a business having the ability to establish policy to protect itself from a crazed media eager to see it fail. To that end I hope cruise lines establish a vaccine requirement. They need to do so to protect themselves. I'd really like to see a common sense policy of 100% vaccinated crew and guests with masks only required until you step your first foot onboard the ship. At that point the mask comes off and the party begins. I understand this will impact families with members that can't or choose not to vaccinate. Unfortunately until this virus has moved past society that is an unfortunate outcome. Once protocols are no longer used anywhere on land they can be removed from ships as well. At that point all are welcome back on board just as they will be everywhere on land. Cruising is NOT a constitutional right and businesses must be free to take whatever steps are necessary to operate and protect their brand. For those that choose not to vaccinate, including friends I have, that choice comes with consequences like not being to enjoy a cruise. That is your right to choose, don't take this personal, it's not meant to be an attack but I'm ready to cruise and the safest way to make that happen as quickly as possible is to require a vaccine.
  10. SilverSea has even less inventory. I don't believe supply and demand are factors. I just don't see it. If Celebrity can get people to pay Beyond prices that's great. More power to them but it's not due to supply and demand.
  11. Welcome to the message boards! There are many advantages to using Air2Sea but keep in mind they don't cover every possible issue that might come up. During hurricane season for example flight operations can get messed up. A plane that is supposed to come from one city never makes it even though your home city or your cruise city is far from that hurricane. When booked direct an airline might just say "flight cancelled" leaving you scrambling at the last minute to find another way. When you are booked with Air2Sea it is their problem to find a way for you to make it to the ship. If the cruise is cancelled because of weather or any reason where the cruise line cancels the cruise and you are booked direct with an airline you have to live with the airlines terms and conditions regarding your flights. Maybe you can make changes, maybe there are penalties, maybe you just lose the value of the ticket. It all depends. If you book through A2S and the cruise line cancels the cruise your flights are refunded just like the cruise fare is. If you just get cold feet at the last minute and decide not to go while the cruise sails normally without you then A2S may have penalty fees that are separate and distinct from the cruise cancellation fees just like booking direct with an airline.
  12. I'm waiting for the... "July X we sail" announcement. Until that is made it's all just more of the same CDC sleight of hand.
  13. Yep. I said a long time I am getting vaccinated to get the CDC out of my life. They have been living rent free in my life and the quickest way to get them gone is to vaccinate. I'm there. Fully vaccinated. Now I'm still stuck dealing with the CDC living rent free in my life and I have to wear a frickin mask to go grocery shopping for no reason.
  14. Absolutely, that's been going on for a while. The difference is now that there are more vaccinated compared to unvaccinated. As misguided as we may believe the CDC and any retail store that requires a protocol to be, we are left dealing with their misguided choices.
  15. It's only simple if the CDC agrees with that approach. Cruise lines don't get to make up the rules. They have to play by the rules the CDC is allowing.
  16. I completely appreciate your perspective and understand your choice. If my kids were still kids I would be right there with you. Cruise lines are dealing with the cards that are being dealt to them. They want a royal flush but the best hand they have to play is a pair of deuces. Staring at that pair of twos and wishing they were other cards isn't going to change the cards in their hand. So they are going back to the dealer, in this case the CDC, and making sure they understand all the rules in the game to see if there is anyway to make it work. The outcome is not inevitable. We need to wait until the CDC clarifies the rules of the game.
  17. I don't need a mask yet I'm required to wear one to enter a store right now. Not because I am a risk. Not because I am at risk. Because unvaccinated folks are a risk. Their actions are causing requirements to be imposed on the rest of us just as they will be with cruising. There will be no need for me to wear a mask on a ship but if unvaccinated are allowed to sail I'll be required to wear one.
  18. If we are all forced to wear masks because some choose not to vaccinate or a cruise is forced to end early and every one must quarantine in their cabin because one unvaccinated became infected.
  19. They are all doing it. MSC Yacht Club, Celebrity Retreat, NCL Haven and now Wonder's eighth neighborhood. Beyond's Retreat is two level, growing bigger. The olden days are coming back. You have your first class passengers and steerage. The two never mingle, except in the movies.
  20. Bayley commented on the vaccine culture of the crew. Royal has long offered but not mandated flu vaccines. Crew adoption of flu vaccines is historically mid-90% he stated. They recently surveyed crew about their thoughts on COVID vaccines. Bayley has suggested the responses follow flu vaccine acceptance trends which he attributed to the long time flu vaccine culture that crew have demonstrated. Basically this is a crowd that tends to accept vaccines. Now that vaccines are available on a walk up basis securing them for crew will be a matter of which one do you want?
  21. Richard is pulling a lot of those strings too, this isn't just Lisa, I suspect it's his master plan, she is just the executioner. There are a lot of people willing and able to spend money to be bourgeoise. They are simply being the outlet for this demographic. This demographic doesn't want true luxury as in SS, that's too old and stuffy. I suspect Beyond may be very successful even if they lose some long time X base.
