  1. If it gets to the people who are out of work at the SeaPorts sure. If its just so SeaPorts can have a pretty balance sheet I'd need to look into that more.
  2. Seriously though if we reach the point where the only thing keeping ships from sailing is the state of Florida the cruise lines may have a strong argument for compensation. Assuming Texas doesn't follow they could send some ships to Texas to sail.
  3. I'd like to see the cruise lines to come back with... "Okay Governor so you are saying we are a Florida business. Cool. In that case how about millions of stimulus money like you promised the seaports?".
  4. Friendly reminder if you are thinking about booking a cruise and would like the peace of mind of having Cruise With Confidence as a future option, you must book by May 31, 2021 so book before the end of this month. What you need to know • As long as you cancel at least 48 hours before your sail date, you’ll receive a Future Cruise Credit. • The Cruise with Confidence program covers bookings that are booked on or before May 31st, 2021, that set sail on or before April 30th, 2022. • Future Cruise Credits are valid to book by April 30th, 2022 and sail by September 30th, 2022. • You may owe any difference in cruise fare if your new booking exceeds the Future Cruise Credit’s value. • Some restrictions may apply. • If you opt into the Cruise with Confidence 100% Future Cruise Credit, you do not qualify for any Future Cruise Credit offers or refunds related to our Global Suspension of sailings.
  5. Contact you credit card company and discuss options with them for a chargeback. FWIW my May and June cancellations were processed within a few weeks but if there is FCC involved it does extend the time frame since it becomes a manual process.
  6. There is an existing cargo rail line that runs North/South along the east coast. The new rail being added along 528 was the shortest path to intercept the existing line at minimal cost since for the most part they could use the existing highway right of way and not get into extensive land acquisition battles with private owners. The next logical addition is a Cocoa station but prior plans for a Cocoa station were dropped. i suspect it's all they could do to fund the 528 expansion costs and buying property for a new station was a luxury they couldn't afford right now. Cargo trains take priority so they'd need a lot of space to build a station that would allow cargo trains to bypass the station. The existing cargo rail line is single so the right of way is narrow. That means sidings and more land acquired outside of the existing rail right of way so major costs for a station. VirtualRailfan.com has cameras in Cocoa on the existing cargo line. The cost to add rail bridges over water all the way to the port would be pretty substantial and challenged by environmental groups. A Cocoa station and buses to the port would be the logical and more easily implemented solution.
  7. Celebrity doesn't swipe cards for pool towels and they place folded towels on loungers as a courtesy. Basically a folded towel on a lounger means "available".
  8. In this case I imagine new crew are brought to the terminal early and jabbed with a vaccine (if they choose) then the ship arrives and they board as a group to go into quarantine in a guest balcony cabin for two weeks. A few days later if another group of crew have amassed in hotels they repeat the process for the next batch.
  9. When Empress and Majesty lost Cuba they turned out new itineraries and there was no single supplement. That was incredible and it was during July and August plus since they were regular cabins double CAS points applied (triple for suites). That's why I cruised on these two ships in 2019 as much as I did. No single supplement is very rare.
  10. There is no standard. It's not a fixed price difference compared to a regular cabin. Often the difference between NRD and refundable is pretty extreme on studio cabins too. Here is a "hidden" studio interior on Brilliance and Mariner I often see. You can't see it but after selecting one guest in this case the "guarantee" cabin is actually an studio interior (guarantee are often blocked for solo). You can call to book it direct and they will see it as a studio interior or find the same cruise on a 3rd party website and you'll see it is actually a studio interior. The "You Pick Your Room" rate is a regular interior cabin with the 200% single supplement. 3rd party website for same cruise, one guest: On Harmony I often see the studio version is more money compared to paying the 200% single supplement. Why on earth would anyone book the studio cabin? The voodoo magic of solo deepens because Royal does offer reduced single supplements on many cruises but only for a few cabins. Once a few guests book them, they disappear and all that's left is 200% regular cabins for solo. The best way to scoop up a reduced single fare (125% or 150% instead of 200%) is to book very early or get lucky. They are out there but it's hard to be the early bird with so many other birds looking for that solo worm. July and August don't usually see reduced single supplements so the rare Brilliance opportunity like above are few and far between. On this short notice for July the only reason we see them this year is because bookings are off due to the pandemic. Normally these cabins are long gone.
  11. Navigator was in Miami on Saturday. I saw one destined for Port Everglades, Mariner I think. I suspect they are getting crew. Crew work visas don't allow them to stay in transit too long. They can arrive in the country through an airport on their transit visa but then the clock starts running and they have to get on a ship within a specific time window. They can't wait in a hotel for weeks for example, they'll overstay their transit visa.
  12. Porters are in the cruise terminal wandering around the luggage area. They usually have a baggage cart with them. Simply stop one and ask for assistance but prepare to tip them. They are not Royal employees. They are usually local longshoremen often unionized.
  13. I feel the same about certain suites. If I'm looking just for a Star Class suite for example. I'd love to be able to filter on specific cabin category and see the price range over several months, lowest to highest. As far as solo cabins, Royal doesn't really embrace them. Too often they are not so much cheaper that it makes sense to book them. Once in a while maybe, but look at Harmony for example. A 2W studio interior is often a few bucks more than a regular interior. A studio ocean view is often a few bucks more than a regular ocean view. Why would anyone book a studio when for less money you get double points in a bigger cabin? Sometimes on Mariner or Radiance class I see a 2W several hundred cheaper than the next cheapest regular version. This July on Brilliance for example. A rare example of a studio being a decent amount cheaper than regular cabin.
  14. I think the idea is to capture the Miami crowds and make it easy for them to visit the Orlando area and get some mouse on. Hence why the Cocoa station has been pulled, it's not their priority.
