If you want to go into Manhattan, I recommend any of the hotels in the Newport/Jersey City area. There are two PATH train stations in the area that will take you either to Midtown (Harold Square) or downtown (World Trade Center). Even if you just want to say in Jersey there is a ton of restaurants and shopping in walking distance. It is also super convenient to the port, only 20 minutes and you don't have to deal with NYC tunnel traffic.

Canaveral Port Authority Reverses Course

Blue Origin already installed a new crane (the ports largest) on the north side of the port last year. They must already be leasing space. -
Port Canaveral to expand

I was on Oasis last summer and we docked at Terminal 6. So there is no problem having big ships at that end of the port. -
There is no way that the debris will be cleared by the time they get back. My money is that they will be diverted to NYC or Norfolk and bussed back to Baltimore. A tragedy for those few people on the bridge. Luckily it wasn’t during rush hour. Those pilots are going to have a lot of questions to answer.

I'll be there next week. We are doing the Blue Lagoon excursion so I am not sure if I will make it out into the new port area but I am going to try.

If you want to see the city but also want convenience to the port, I recommend any of the hotels in the Jersey City/Newport area of NJ along the Hudson. The subway-like PATH train has two stops in that area that can quickly and cheaply take you to midtown or downtown (ferries are also an option). There is convenience shopping nearby in case you missed anything. And it is only a quick 20 min (or less) drive/uber to the port.

Oddly enough, it looks like we may be the only ship in port, does this change the math at all?

And with good reason. Dunkin' Donuts are horrible donuts.

I will be traveling with my family to Nassau on Oasis in June. For some reason we don't pull into Nassau until 1ish. I have heard that Blue Lagoon can get pretty busy in the summer. Considering we would be getting there so late in the day, will we be able to find any shade? Additionally will it be so packed as to not be enjoyable?

It is a fairly recent change that lets you use onboard credit pre-cruise. It could just be a remnant of a previous version of the article.

Ugh, non-power strip multiplug confiscated

I think it is something like this, with USB and regular US sockets. https://a.co/d/7Iy137d -
Here is a link to that other post.

Hotel recommendation for Cape Liberty

I second any hotel in the Jersey City/Exchange Place area. Close to the port, lost of stuff in walking distance. River/city views. And PATH train/ferries to the city if you want. -

The only ones that I see also have regular outlets. Am I missing something? -

Everything just charges with USB. Get a multiport USB charger and call it a day. -
Completely off topic, but have your written about any of these cruises? I have always enjoyed your live blogs and photography and I would be interested in your experience on another line. Not that I am really shopping around, as I only cruise ever 4 years or so.

While poking around the web, I came across this history of Port Everglades In Fort Lauderdale. It is a fairly comprehensive history and lots of pictures (even if the quality isn’t the best). An interesting read if you are into this sort of thing. But be warned it only covers up to around 2000. https://assets.simpleviewinc.com/simpleview/image/upload/v1/clients/porteverglades/Port_Everglades_A_Century_of_Opportunity_for_Web_ADA_6820a847-a20c-4350-90e0-258bd2d33ce8.pdf

I spend every minute I can on Coco Cay. Usually beach, to the pool, then back to the beach. But then again I can float with my drink or read in the shade for hours. Once a down pour happened about an hour and half until all aboard. Everybody rushed to the ship. We waited it out for 20 minutes then had the entire beach to ourselves for about 45 minutes. It was fantastic!

I know they have been having trouble getting everyone to complete the E-Muster drill but I think they might be reminding me a little bit early for my June cruise.

Nassau Failed Cruisers??
StayFrosty replied to Midwest Cruiser's topic in Royal Caribbean News and Rumors
I really hope they get their act together. That port has so much potential. It has good bones but the government needs to increase security and incentivize new businesses. They also need to be consistent enough in everything that they do as to not scare aware potential investment. Fixing up the port facilities is a nice start. But there needs to be a public/private partnership in taking the next step. I still get off and go to a beach and I did the flight simulator when it was still there. The tourist dollars are literally pulling up to their front door. They just have to take advantage of it.
