Gochie
Just really concerned about cruise to Cuba Oct. 25, 2018 on Empress of the Seas. Can someone reassure me about the Cuban ports and about the people. Will Royal Caribbean give you knowledge and an indoctrination as to what to expect when leaving the ship? Is it true you have to have an excursion planned in order to get off the ship? Is there anyone else going on this cruise that is on the RCCL blog? Thanks Goche
twangster
Welcome to the message boards! I'm sailing Empress next week to Cuba. Watch the Live Blog section of the message boards for my live blog. I'm going to Cuba again in September on Majesty with an overnight stop in Havana. I've booked the full day excursion with Royal this time. I hope to use the full day excursion to better plan a culturally enriching experience for Majesty. @Matt who runs this site just returned from Cuba and his blogs should give you some great information to prepare for your cruise: https://www.royalcaribbeanblog.com/2018/07/06/majesty-of-the-seas-live-blog-day-3-havana-cuba https://www.royalcaribbeanblog.com/2018/07/12/excursion-focus-old-havana-city-sightseeing Podcast on Cuba: https://www.royalcaribbeanblog.com/2018/07/11/majesty-of-the-seas-cruise-cuba-review-royal-caribbean-blog-podcast Royal Caribbean has a FAQ specific to Cuba: https://www.royalcaribbean.com/faq/topics/cuba-cruises Sweety
monctonguy
I have been to Cuba almost a dozen times...but I realize its different for Americans who have been restricted for years. All I can tell you is that its a great island to visit, even if its general quite poor in all areas.

Adriana
Cuba is one of the safest places to visit and the Cuban people are very friendly. As with any country or city, be mindful of surroundings and respectful of people. You will need a Visa, but RC will help take care of that for you at the terminal during embarkation. Don’t go around yelling, Down with Castro (although who can blame anyone for that ) and you will be fine. Go and enjoy!
