Biaggio Posted April 28 Report Posted April 28 On Wednesday, cruising from Miami to Barcelona, looking for a user friendly weather forecast. Some of the websites I found, like NOAA, have graphs and spaghetti strings which are difficult to decipher. Wondering about rain or rough seas. Past crossings have been calm, but you never know. Thanks Quote
Matt Posted April 28 Report Posted April 28 I really don't think such a forecast, if it exists, is useful. Not only are there few weather stations in the middle of the Atlantic to help formulate such a forecast, the North Atlantic is notoriously unpredictable. I think whatever the forecast would be is like a @smokeybandit post here. You read it, squint, and then think "that may or may not happen". Quote
smokeybandit Posted April 28 Report Posted April 28 It's the open ocean, anything can happen. But odds are it won't, especially this time of year when winter storms are done and we haven't gotten into tropical season yet. If you're prone to seasickness, just make sure you're stocked up on whatever meds work best for you. The site windy.com overlays wind/wave computer models on a map, which could at least give you a hint of what to expect, though probably not reliable past a few days. https://www.windy.com/?32.784,-73.582,5,m:eAiadHe Phillip Diamond Plus 1 Quote
SeaSunnedTraveler Posted April 28 Report Posted April 28 Passageweather.com is a decent site, but it is more geared toward sailing, not cruising. Quote
BigKarl Posted April 28 Report Posted April 28 I can give an accurate forecast : "Tonight, Dark! Continued dark with widely scattered light in the morning." This was a direct quote from the late great George Carlin. WAAAYTOOO 1 Quote
Phillip Diamond Plus Posted April 28 Report Posted April 28 I'm on your cruise/Explorer of the Sea! Thanks for good links to weather sites above! Quote
Geezer Of The Seas Posted April 28 Report Posted April 28 NOAA does publish a text format high seas forecast. Problem is you have to know latitude/longitude for the route the ship is taking. It's not completely written in "meteorologist". Easiest way to locate it is Google NOAA high seas forecast if you haven't run across it yet. Quote
