Or can I still use my driver's license? they only need the Real ID or Drivers license when you do not have a passport. What documentation you need all depends on the cruise you are taking and what country you are from. For Americans doing a cruise that starts in the US and ends in the US you can use a birth certificate and drivers license. Other cruises you need a Passport and possible visas. Note: you are going to need a Real ID to fly to your cruise. Quote
smokeybandit Posted April 25 Report Posted April 25 Real ID is just a driver's license that was issued using a specific set of identifying documents. For a cruise, it is no different than a regular driver's license, both of which would also require a birth certificate to board. Quote
JasonOasis Posted April 26 Report Posted April 26 Real ID is only for US government purposes only, for instance if you are trying to enter a federal building, getting through airport checkpoint security. If you have a passport you don't need real ID. But you answer your question no Royal isn't requiring real ID, however I would be remiss if I didn't say its always an excellent idea to bring your passport with you (if you have one) when you're on a cruise because if anything happens you'll save yourself a world of headaches by simply having that passport with you. Doug_Texas Posted April 28 Report Posted April 28 Always take your passport with 6 months of validity remaining. A passport is a Real ID compliant form of identification. RCIfan1912 1 Quote

Royal Caribbean does not require a REAL ID for boarding. You can use a standard driver's license along with an original or certified U.S. birth certificate, but a driver's license alone is not enough unless you have an Enhanced Driver’s License (EDL).
