Age discrimination on shore excursion?

I just discovered this BLOG and have posted the same on Cruise Critic.

Have you ever been told that you are "too old" for a shore excursion?

It happened to us today for plans in Cozumel that involves Tulum and Casa Tortuga.  We can zipline, snorkel,  jet ski,  parasail,  climb Mayan ruins, cave tube.  We go to the gym 5X per week and cannot take this excursion because we are barely over the age of 70.

It is disappointing to us.  We try to stay active, we pass all our health exams and cruising to us is adventure, a chance to see new things.

This is probably our 20th cruise and I am suddenly wondering if it is for us.

We do not go to the casino.  You may see us reading and napping on sea days.  However, never on port days.

Suggestions?  Comments?

Thank you.

It is likely an issue with provider's insurance. I was chagrined to learn I couldn't  snorkel at one port when I turned 65. However, I could take the beach excursion and snorkel with my own equipment off the beach. Different providers have different restrictions.

Yep, it's an insurance thing.  Policy price jumps if you allow the older age group so the business choice is to not do so.

Yes....we can no longer do any SCUBA excursions b/c we are both over 65.  😪

I just booked a dive excursion in Roatan and Cozumel aboard the Wonder (I'm 68). They could cancel it when I board the ship next year, but for now they are happy to hold my money. Last year I did a ship dive excursion in Aruba on the Explorer, I was 67 at the time. Overall there are not many dive excursion offerings these days, I've been booking directly with dive shops. Just did a Bermuda cruise in August, no dive excursion offered.
