it’s nice bc then you get the cabin/sailing you want

and if you time it right, you can get one right after the new itineraries are released (which is how we do in the december unveiling) and still reap the instant booking/within 30 days or whatever. 

since i usually am the hunter for good deals anyway, i’ve typically got one or two cabins “held” just prior to any of our sailings and then we pull the trigger with the next cruise credit once onboard

This sorta thing wouldn't work for me but I appreciate the logic and creativity to get a deal.

I was going to book one of those open-ended reservations where you don't pick your actual cruise at NextCruise on Allure this week to use for the November release until I learned from my TA that you can't get a refundable deposit open-ended reservation and that's what I would want to transfer to a TA group rate when the release happens. Oh well.
