Price for a family of 3 vs a family of 4

Hi all,

Can anybody tell me why the Price for a cruise for 2 adults and 1 child is more expensive than 2 adults and 2 children? 
In some cases the difference is huge and yet, i haven’t yet seen a cruise where travelling 3 people is cheaper.

So what is going on?

Most cabins on a ship are 2 person or 5+ person, so cabins that only hold three people will cost more, because they aren't as plentiful.

There's tons of variations on this question if you search the forums.  Unfortunately, without more information (like ship, date, and category of cabin) we'd just be guessing at the best answer for your situation.  It usually boils down to not making a fair comparison on the room type.  Cabins that only sleep 3 are actually kind of rare which can drive up the price if there aren't many of them left.

Well...you have this family of 3 going to check some cruises I thought may be sold out or too expensive...we can always find one the kids friends to drag along if its gonna SAVE us money!

If it’s cheaper for 4 just book for and make the 4th person a family member that won’t be traveling. No penalty for someone not showing up. You then will probably even have a slightly bigger room that will be more comfortable for the 3 of you.
