Apatt08
I’m traveling on Odyssey in less than 2 weeks. One of the stops is Falmouth. Many are worried about getting off the ship in this port due to the travel advisory given by the US Department of state. Is it “safe” to participate in a shore excursion given the advisory? ChessE4
Yes. We've taken Royal excursions there twice. Be cognizant of your personal safety on any trip, and stay with your group.
Ryan79
Whatever city you are embarking from is probably just as dangerous as Falmouth. Use common sense and you will be fine. I spent a week in Jamaica 2 summers ago and felt completely safe, but then again I live in Los Angeles which is basically a glorified 3rd world city! teddy
The Falmouth cruise port area is kind of its own compound. You will be safe within its confines. As far as shore excursions, if you choose a Royal Caribbean one, you will be as safe as you would be in any big city. In addition, when you take a Royal Caribbean excursion, you have the piece of mind that you will get back on this ship if your group is delayed. We were there back in September. The ship delayed leaving because the Captain waited for a shore excursion group to return. They were running late because the road they were traveling on was closed due to a fatal traffic accident (not the excursion group). loki007
we loved our day in Falmouth and never felt unsafe. Like anywhere don't stray from the common tourist sights and you'll be fine. We hired a private driver for the day and went to the Falls then to Scothchies for a great Jamaican meal. I would go to Falmouth over Nassau in a second. tjcruisers
Been to Jamaica many times. If you stay in the port shopping area or tourist areas you’d have no worries. The issues with Jamaica is usually around Kingston on the south side. One note is I found the drivers are a little crazy
