Floski
I think I have a good date for our next cruise, provided it's good with whoever else wants to go. Jan 13/14 '18. The only two ships to consider that are leaving Canaveral are the Oasis and Epic. When I do a side-by-side comparison for a balcony room, the total is only about $20. However, Epic has free drink packages and 3 specialty restaurant dinners at no charge. So, y'all, sell me either way. I'm leaning toward Epic, but hate to miss a chance to sail Oasis (not to mention I really love RCCL). Thanks...I'll hang up and listen. WAAAYTOOO
I cruised on Epic in 2013 and I like some things about it and didn't like others (pretty much like everything else, I guess. Good/bad). I liked the casino very much. I loved one of their complimentary restaurants but I can't remember the name. O'Sheehan's, I think. It was great for just grabbing something fast but WAAAY better than a buffet. It had a pub atmosphere and the food was good enough. I didn't care for the MDR at all. I think we only ate there once. I don't remember much about the other restaurants. I HATED the stateroom. We had a balcony room with the split bathroom. The shower on one side, a tiny little closet with the toilet on the other side and the sink was right out in the bedroom. Whoever came up with this design should be barred from EVER designing another ship. The room was also just small. I recall that the ship was somewhat difficult to navigate from end-to-end. You often had to go up or down to get from one end to the other. Unless the price was WAAAY cheaper than Oasis (and I do seem to recall that the price was pretty good for that cruise) I would choose Oasis EVERY time. tonyfsu21
I have sailed both @ echo the comments from WAAAYTOOO. There is absolutely no substitute for sailing the Oasis class and I would highly recommend you give it a try.
Floski
Thanks, y'all. These are the types of comments that I'm looking for.
RCVoyager
My family and I have cruised a lot. As a group we stay away from NCL unless the cost/itinerary is substantially better. The reason is the poor food quality in the MDR. It is so bad they force you into the upcharge restaurants. It's like eating at Applebees or Bob Evans 7 consecutive nights. We prefer to do the upcharge once a week, not every night. These thoughts are those of mine and several family members and your experience could be different, but I doubt it. jticarruthers
Have done Allure and Escape and if it was between those two, i would chose Escape. I have heard/read the the cabin design on Epic was funky (as noted above) so would probably take Oasis for that reason.
