soulboy
Hi I'm new to cruising and I've booked a guaranteed room on the Harmony of the Seas. I've now been allocated a room but it's got a connecting door. I have asked if there is any other rooms and have been offered a room on the the 14 deck without a connecting door but I believe the 14th deck is right bellow the pool deck. Is this correct? Also if you had to choose a room out of the 2 which one would you pick? Thanks in advance
arebee
Yup, pool is on deck 15. Can't help with the other question, never tried the "let them pick" for me. Maybe one day but I like picking my own room.
Matt
Connecting door rooms usually have a lock on either side to prevent one side from accessing the other. I'd be fine in that room, but that's just me.
WAAAYTOOO
I've had connecting rooms lots of times. Never ever had a problem.
coneyraven
I've had connecting rooms twice .... both by request because of the kids .... They don't affect the cabin size at all, and as Matt said, just like in a Hotel Room, they're locked unless the cabin steward unlocks them by request. What's amazing is that when you requested, the cabin steward verifies all parties in both cabins to make sure it's ok to open it up. The only thing I notice was that instead of having a sofa in the cabin, it was a chair..... but who cares, it's not like you're going to be spending much time in the cabin anyhow. soulboy
Thanks guys for the reply. We went with the connecting room option. I didn't want to hear pool chairs and parties going on at 4am. We didn't have much choice over being in the guaranteed section. I work for an airline and got the room at a massive discount. So was just happy that I got an ocean view balcony. soulboy
firegal2539
Very smart to pick the connecting room. I have had many connecting cabins and never a problem but I have been under the pool deck before and at 6:00 a.m. the crew starts with the lounger scraping, they just pull them along the deck, the chair scraping and many other noises. Woke me up several times!!
McLovin
Agree with the others. My family of 3 usually get connecting interior or outside rooms on older ships and when the door is closed it's no more noisy than a regular room. I have also been underneath the pool deck and the chair legs scraping the deck can be REALLY loud. I've also been underneath the casino bar and we had the same problem with the barstool legs late at night. I booked Harmony on my last cruise and the NextCruise rep said soundproofing on the new ships is much better so we booked under the casino. Of course she was trying to sell us a cruise so I take it with a grain of salt.
DocLC
The only downside we've had with a connecting room was on the Liberty where we ended up with a chair instead of a love seat because of the door.
Jacki_MEI
I agree with everyone who said take the connecting room over the room below the pool deck. The connecting door will have a lock on your side, and the one time I had a room below the pool deck I was woken up at 6am because of deck chairs being dragged around. Nobody wants to wake up that early on vacation! have a great time! :)

I'm very particular about where my cabin is and always pay attention to what is above, below, and to the sides of my cabin for these exact reasons. Matt
Very true, and one of the reasons I don't book guarantees. I'm very particular about where my cabin is and always pay attention to what is above, below, and to the sides of my cabin for these exact reasons. It would take a very low rate for me to book a guarantee for that reason. Quite often, the price difference is not that much. bcarney
I (unwisely) booked a Guarantee once. The room assigned was directly above where the speakers at the top of the theatre were mounted, which means every time something was going on in the theatre, the room sounded like someone was playing some loud music with a lot of bass thumping. It made sleep for my children impossible on those nights that had late shows.
soulboy
Well I've been given a new stateroom that doesn't have a connecting door, doesn't seem to be near any noisy areas. and is aft of the ship. I just asked mt TA if they had any other rooms I can't complain too much as an airline employee I got the cruise for about a 3rd of the normal price
