  1. If I recall, you also have an issue with not getting emails from Royal. Perhaps it has something to do with those multiple C&A sub accounts. Recently, someone posted about figuring out that they weren't getting Casino offers because their email was associated with multiple people's accounts. If Dan's email is associated with all those sub accounts, maybe that triggers the same situation? And what the hell is a sub account anyway?
  2. I assume the bionic bar charges extra for a double or triple. Or is there a flat price?
  3. Are they going on the same cruise as you? 5 digit numbers like that only exist on the larger ships. Kind of sounds like they are on an Oasis-Class ship while you are on Explorer of the Seas.
  4. Yes, each drink gets 18% gratuity added when purchased outside a package. But the package itself gets 18% gratuity added when you purchase it. Does the $460 you've mentioned already include that? If not, it'll really be $543 when you go to checkout. I'm going to have to agree that paying for a pack of bottled water in addition to a package, is going to make it that much harder to break even on the package. If the package makes sense for you, cancel that bottled water purchase! Edited to add: Remember you can bring a limited amount of bottled water on board with you. With that option, you'll always have a few in the cabin plus whatever you grab using the package.
  5. I"m not sure you can get the full details beforehand, and even if you can find it, I would strongly recommend talking to the employees at each restaurant/windjammer buffet/main dining room when you want to eat. Once you mention allergies, they will get a supervisor or chef to come out and discuss the menu with you. Then, they will advise you what you can safely eat from the menu/buffet or will they make something specifically for you at an allergy-friendly station in their kitchen. I've often heard they will let you pre-order things for the next day so they are ready when you want them.
  6. You also get reserved seating in theaters but I would never believe you could get a credit for not using them. I think the same logic applies here. Your guest can still get all non-alcoholic beverages for free so make great use of it
  7. I think they realized that many couples were each carrying 2 bottles "for the room" and going through security separately so that they actually brought 4 bottles on board. By making it 1 per person, they are trying to close that loophole. In theory, if you put 2 bottles in one carry-on, then you both should go through security together or they can confiscate one. Whether they will actually do this is anyone's guess at this point.
  8. If you smell smoke on your balcony, I would bet it's more likely to be coming from someone on a nearby balcony where they shouldn't be smoking than smoke coming from the smoking area on the upper deck. Considering how complicated the upper decks of Icon look due to the water parks and neighborhoods, I don't think anyone can confidently predict where the smoking area will be located (unless it's already marked on the deck plans).
  9. Rooms that can handle 5 passengers are both popular and limited. It's very likely that those willing to pay more to choose their own room will choose those rooms. Possibly before guarantees are even offered for your sailing. Royal likely doesn't allow booking 5 on a guaranteed rate because it would be very hard to guarantee an appropriate room would be available. Unfortunately for you (and your wallet), I don't think this is a risk you should take.
  10. If you're referring to the new themed MDR menus, those just started so you won't find them mentioned on most past Cruise Compasses unless they're from the last few weeks.
  11. Considering 4/9 is Easter, I'm going to have to call that a holiday travel premium. A close relative of price gouging, but at least a predictable one.
  12. Pretty sure Matt had a long blog post within the last week about the half size vs full size rolls messing with the value of the prix fixe at Izumi. I could imagine them getting a lot of negative feedback leading to changing the rules again and thus creating mass confusion.
  13. On Royal's deck plans, the triangle indicates sleeping for 3 not the type of bed. @Ampurp85 the Cruiseline website uses a * for these rooms and says that means "Stateroom has third Pullman bed available" All references I can find for these rooms online say there is a chair instead of sofa to make room for the door and that there's a pullman over the bed. Granted all the posts and photos are over a decade old, but I don't think they would have changed this. https://www.cruisedeckplans.com/DP/deckplans/stateroom-details.php?ship=Freedom-of-the-Seas&cabin=6328 - Has photo and comment about pullman bed (2010) https://boards.cruisecritic.com/topic/1235173-fos-cabin-6326-and-6328/ - Confirms pullman bed (2011) https://boards.cruisecritic.com/topic/592219-freedom-of-the-seas-cabin-6636-information/ - States 6326/6328 have pullman (2007) @Martie I would look into changing rooms. Do you need the connecting cabin type?
  14. Have you searched for others on your sailing to see if there's an issue with your group or the whole cruise? There are some Roll Call groups on this site but there's almost always a Facebook Group or a Cruise Critic Roll Call group for every sailing. I suggest you find one of those and ask what others are experiencing.
  15. Yeah, that threw me too. I'm like, he's been here way long enough to know there's always a sale ending today!
  16. Technically true, but there's generally no way to tell from looking at a device whether it has a surge protector or not. Therefore, if you bring something that has more than one electrical outlet, it MAY get confiscated. There's also no appeals process so if it looks like it could have a surge protector, it's best not to bring it.
  17. But did you answer yes or no to the question of having symptoms on the app? If you answered yes, and they asked nothing further at the port, I would agree that's surprising but helps LakeAlto's brother's chances. If you answered no, then it's not really an indication of what could happen here.
  18. It's well known you can continue to test positive long after you are no longer contagious. Even his personal doctor would likely advise him to answer "no" to the health question. But if he absolutely won't, then he's at the mercy of whatever policy Royal has in place. They may automatically deny him boarding (and possibly others in his party) or they may let him explain and agree he's OK. And that's pretty much all anyone can answer given how you've phrased the question.
  19. I think your TA is confused about the end of the relationship with Azamara Cruises. Royal and Celebrity are still owned by the same parent and still provide reciprocal status matches. The Celebrity forum here isn't as busy but many of the frequent posters sail both. Ask away and I'm sure you'll get responses.
  20. The question was VB versus OV cabins. OV cabins are by definition a window. Actual balconies are a different category. Yes, you obviously get an Ocean View from a balcony but that acronym means no balcony when booking.
  21. Think of it as a restaurant in your home town. How long does that take? With My Time Dining, your family/travel party will get your own table so you won't be waiting on anyone else. With early dining, you may be sitting with others. (Note those are the defaults but not 100% guaranteed and can depend on what size table you need.) The good news is that every show is walking distance from the dining room so you don't have to worry about much travel time like at home.
  22. If you want to take things slowly, you just....wait to get off until you want to. Most people are in a hurry and everything about the disembarkation instructions is geared towards those that need to make flights and other travel plans. You do have to be out of your room at some point, but anyone can take their time getting off the ship. Within reason of course, they have to get all guests off before they can start embarking the next cruise.
  23. You can also use royalcaribbean.com (and probably Celebrity's website too) while on the free WiFi. They are happy to let you research additional cruises while on the ships. But anywhere else on the internet needs a paid WiFi package.
  24. Matt's response was confusing but historically, there were more questions and the "right" answer was no for all of them. Once upon a time, each symptom was its own question. Do you have a fever? No. Are you throwing up? No. Etc, etc. It's only recently that yes is an acceptable answer for any question. The pregnancy question is there because it's a generic questionnaire for all ages and genders. Men who answer yes will be "denied" boarding until they get someone to change the answer. And there's no way for Royal to know if someone has become pregnant since their last cruise so they have to ask every time.
  25. Right but that was only your second post in those 6 months! I'm not positive but I believe most forum software uses 10 posts as the threshold to turn off moderation. Even if it is higher than that, the more you post, the more often the moderators will have to approve your posts, and the more often they see your name, the faster they can realize you aren't a spammer. So the best option is to join in and post often.
