  1. Oh gosh Jane, were you caught up in the recent debacle?
  2. Did you happen to keep copies of the Cruise Compass, Newb? If so, I'd be eternally grateful if you posted it on here.
  3. What an epic post! I'm glad you managed to clear immigration, I would have been hyperventilating, stressing, angsting, you name it. But all's well that ends well (for you, anyway). I must say I am surprised to hear that the Solarium was open to all and activities were free. That bodes well for my cruise in January. One more thing. How busy exactly was the pool area? I've heard that in Asia it tends to be much quieter than cruises from other parts.
  4. @S0nny and @Bakerette, thanks a heap for this info. Very much appreciated ?
  5. Hello RCBloggers. Assistance kindly requested. I've never sailed on Quantum (or Oasis) Class. Approximately at what point before my cruise will I be able to make reservations for shows in the Theatre and/or Two70 ? I have been checking my Cruise Planner and nothing is showing as yet. The cruise sails in 79 days. I have been checking under the Onboard Activities tab, is this correct? Some further advice - how quickly do reservations generally book out? I am sailing out of Singapore if that makes a difference. I am waiting to make entertainment reservations before going ahead and booking MyTime dining times, which is currently available to book in the Cruise Planner. Thanks in advance for any help, cheers guys!
  6. Royal Caribbean has announced the location of the line’s newest private island destination – Perfect Day at Lelepa, Vanuatu in the South Pacific. Perfect Day at Lelepa will open in 2022 and will be the Southern Hemisphere’s first private island destination cruising experience. The announcement of the new project was made by Vanuatu’s Prime Minister, Charlot Salwai, and Royal Caribbean International President and CEO Michael Bayley. Salwai and Bayley said the destination will be created in partnership with the community of Vanuatu to showcase the distinct natural ecological beauty and diverse local culture of the island nation as well as provide employment and education opportunities. Perfect Day at Lelepa will also be built with sustainability features designed to safeguard the island’s ecosystems and will be the first carbon neutral private cruise destination in the world, with standards for carbon neutrality audited and certified by an independent third-party expert. “We believe our destinations should be sustainably designed,” Bayley said. “That idea goes beyond simply protecting the ecological features of Lelepa and includes showing respect for the people and traditions that make this a special place.” Vanuatu Prime Minister Salwai said, “Vanuatu is a true paradise for both our people and the visitors we welcome to our shores each year. Today marks a major step forward in our island nation’s close relationship with Royal Caribbean and one that will support sustainable growth for future generations. The Ni-Vanuatu people look forward to welcoming Royal Caribbean guests from around the world to enjoy extraordinary adventures and relaxation during their Perfect Day at Lelepa.” Bayley said, “Anyone who has encountered the tremendous natural beauty of Lelepa can understand why it is the perfect setting for ‘Perfect Day.’ Our guests who travel to the South Pacific are seeking authentic adventures and genuine relaxation, and they will find both here.” Perfect Day at Lelepa will have a different look and feel from Royal Caribbean’s Perfect Day at CocoCay. Bailey went on to say that guests around the world all have different definitions for their perfect day — and all of them are right. He is confident the designers of the first Perfect Day in the South Pacific will create an experience that suits the destination. Cox Architecture, a sustainable, design-focused contemporary architectural firm based in Australia, will serve as the lead architect on the Perfect Day at Lelepa project which is scheduled to open in three year's time.
  7. Is this actual news that I missed? Or a rumour? Would be great if true.
  8. I'm sailing on Quantum in January, so let me know how it goes. This is what I have discovered in my research. all of which came to light long after I booked: - RipCord is not free - North Star is not free - The Solarium is out of bounds unless you are in a suite or Diamond-Plus. I'm sure a few other surprises await me. However, I am still looking forward to the cruise, because at the end of the day, cruising is fun, regardless of a few bugbears.
  9. Never mind the casino, it should be banned on the pool deck! I was dismayed that there is a designated area for smoking in such a busy area of the ship. The more ostracised the smoking community becomes, the better [apologies to all smokers, nothing personal].
  10. Wow, I think you've got away with one there. Nice. Sorry, not sure about the suite perks.
  11. No, sorry. I've heard the passageway to get there is dark and messy. Some folks don't mind, but I'm not interested, personally.
  12. I was worried at first because it hurt like hell. I had a jumper on, so maybe that helped soften the impact. My brother heard the thud and looked up, wondering who had hurt themselves. When he realised it was me, he laughed ?
  13. Non-skater from Australia here, I'll field this query. On Explorer I gave it a crack and it was fine. It feels very foreign at first but you can hug the perimeter until you find your steadiness (It will take a little while.). Once I gained confidence I started whizzing around the rink. My confidence turned into over-confidence and I took a turn way too tight, lost control and thudded onto my back, elbows and helmet. It served me right. No major damage done, shook it off, kept going. As long as you don't start thinking that you are Wayne Gretzky or Nancy Kerrigan, you will be fine. Slow and steady ?
  14. Both my cruises have been 12 and 11 nights. Neither was long enough.
  15. I hope your info is right but I have my doubts. We shall see, fingers crossed!
  16. I'm starting 2 weeks leave tomorrow, to head to the Ningaloo Reef (Western Australia's answer to the Great Barrier Reef). Do I feel guilty about taking off more than a week? AAAAAAAAAAAAAHahahahahha NOoooooooo! My boss is coincidentally heading up there as well and he is taking 3 weeks! ?
  17. " What are your Bucket List cruises? " All of them!
  18. Hi Kelly. You do not have to register on Day 1 but it will help. Your Cruise Compass will display the opening time for the Kids' Club, so get there when doors open would be my recommendation. I believe they can turn kids away at busy times but am led to believe this is exceptionally rare. Not sure how they contact parents. From memory I think there are pagers available if your child has special needs? I dunno, someone else will need to confirm this one. You will need to hang on to your daughter's seapass for sure. My kids were 3 and 5 last cruise and that's what I did.
  19. I questioned them on why this information was not made known at the time of booking. Here's the response - Please know that access to Solarium on Quantum of the Seas is limited to guests sailing on Junior Suite and above and Crown & Anchor Society Diamond and above members. My apologies but if you booked a different type of room we are not really required to read all the list of benefits a Suite guest would have, unless you ask for it.
  20. Unfortunately I've had it confirmed by RCI themselves ?
  21. So I've discovered to my disappointment that Solarium access on Quantum for my Jan 2020 cruise out of Singapore is restricted to suite guests and diamond members only. Apparently this is a rule for Asian sailings (along with paying for North Star and Ripcord). For anyone with experience aboard Q Class ships, is there a security point of some sort before entering the Solarium? Not that I wish to break any rules of course, but if I happened to accidentally wander into an area I'm not supposed to be....Oops, silly me.
