What ships to try after Symphony?
Lovetocruise2002 replied to Joe01's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
This is exactly what I am feeling with my Mariner booking. I'll be able to analyze it more in August. This is what I am banking on as I have heard many of you say how much you still enjoy the smaller ships. -
Are the dining packages worth it?

Putting that on my Genie list right now before I forget! lol -
Walking around Old San Juan
Lovetocruise2002 replied to Lovetocruise2002's topic in Shore Excursions
Thanks! I did find this online a while back but was hoping for a more "tourist" type map. You know the kind you would find at a tourist agency. I thought I had read somewhere that there was a tourist info center right when you get off the ship? -

@DocLC What are those last 3 pics?? Names of dishes please. Those look so good! -
Hubby and I will be in San Juan for a day at the end of July. Once again, we have no set plans for this port. We are planning to just walk around Old San Juan leisurely and see where the day takes us. My question is...is there a place nearby (when you get off the ship) to get a good walking map of old San Juan with attractions marked etc.?

It has been a really long time since we sailed Brilliance, but we have nothing but fond memories on board her. We sailed Brilliance way back when she was in Europe. I thought at the time, and still do, that she was the perfect size ship for that type of itinerary. It was a port heavy sailing and the times we were on board, we were never bored. I probably wouldn't do a TA on her but for a 5 night, you can't go wrong!

MEI is the TA sponsor for Royal Caribbean Blog. You can contact any of their agents to get you a quote. From what I've read in this thread, they are all great. Edit - sorry. I confused the threads. Many names on this thread. -
Chef's Table Brilliance of the Seas Dessert
Lovetocruise2002 replied to Shari's topic in Royal Caribbean Dining
@mom2mybugs, this dessert is enough reason alone to try Wonderland! I am going to try to have one of these things every day on Harmony in March! -

This makes me laugh! You would probably hate Seaside then. Mirrors, chrome, and metal all over the place. -
What ships to try after Symphony?
Lovetocruise2002 replied to Joe01's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
If that is the case, I would definitely look very closely at the price difference between Harmony and Oasis. Oasis will likely get the slides (if she doesn't then I lost the gamble and my kids are not going to be happy) and there was a plan before to add Wonderland to Oasis in the last dry dock (but they never did). It even showed up on some of the deck plans. Anyway, wait to see what details get released about the Oasis refurb, and see what is cheaper. If it's Oasis, I would do that. Maybe they will add Wonderland? Not sure if @Matt has any other info on the Oasis revitalization? And Harmony will be in Port Canaveral by then so not sure if that affects your decision making. -
Tried and true vs. New things every time
Lovetocruise2002 replied to mom2mybugs's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
?Guilty! Creatures of habit. We do tend to do the same ships and itineraries. We like familiarity. It makes for a very relaxing vacation. A few years from now, when our kids our older, we will likely try the more exotic and European itineraries. -
What ships to try after Symphony?
Lovetocruise2002 replied to Joe01's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
I 100% think that everyone should try Wonderland at least once. I would go again (for fun), but hubby says once is enough and I'm ok with that too. It is a totally different dining experience. You have to go with an open mind. If the slides and Wonderland is important to you, then I would say try Harmony. If not, they are all equally as good. I did not find much noticeable differences between Oasis or Allure so I would go with whichever is cheaper. However, if you plan to sail Oasis in 2019, then keep in mind that she will be going through a major revitalization in the fall of that year so who knows what they might add (wonderland?). That is why I booked our spring 2020 sailing on her. To check it out. Hope that doesn't confuse you more.? Edit: One disadvantage for Allure is that she might be looking tired in another year or so. She is due for revitalization in 2020 so they might not do much to her until then. Recent reports had Mariner looking very tired prior to this dry dock. -
What ships to try after Symphony?
Lovetocruise2002 replied to Joe01's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
I can see how that might be. Crowds did not move well on Anthem in my experience. And many areas felt narrow. I'll be able to compare when I sail Mariner in August. It's been 16 years since I've sailed a Voyager class ship. -

I second the Freedom class idea. As a die hard Oasis class fan, if I had to choose something other than those four, and not Quantum class, I would do Freedom class. -

Gold Benefits - Disembark?
Lovetocruise2002 replied to cruise-y's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
It's been a few years since I've set foot in a departure lounge but the last time we did it was more continental breakfast offerings. And not much selection. You are way better off heading to the WJ. Here is the departure info for Anthem in March. As you can see, gold is not here either. -

Lovetocruise2002 replied to CruisinUngs's topic in Royal Caribbean Dining
@CruisinUngs not sure what the price is on your cruise planner but here is the on board price for Anthem from March 2018. -
We never upload our photos. It barely takes any time at check in.

Stupid website C & A question
Lovetocruise2002 replied to mom2mybugs's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
I would call C&A directly. I wasn't getting points for my last cruise in March (I was on board the week that new website rolled out) and it took C&A a few weeks to fix it. All is good now. I just alternate between pre-Gold, cannot display info, and Emerald lol. -
