  1. I booked it a while back as a back up for Odyssey and it is my birthday week. The price was really good when I grabbed it. Hubby is on the fence if we should go though just for 4 nights.
  2. Umm...have you seen all his blogs? He's a bot. ?
  3. I'm booked on that sailing too at the moment. Not sure if we will keep it though. Hubby doesn't really want to. ?
  4. Any RC Solarium without kids is a great one! ? For me, it's a close tie between the Quantum class and Oasis class ones.
  5. I tried to cancel my cruise planner items as well for Odyssey inaugural (this morning) and it wouldn’t let me proceed. I just kept getting the banner asking me if I wanted 125% OBC.
  6. I only read as far as the title of your post...Oasis most definitely with kids.
  7. Definitely! Just get any phone around the ship "call the Genie". That's what I tell my girls too lol.
  8. @gdk0085 one piece of important advice to avoid disappointment....The most important thing that I have learned is that Star Class really varies (in terms of the small details) from ship to ship and from Genie to Genie. The basics are the same (all inclusive specialty dining, drinks, etc. but the smaller little details vary). It is great to get ideas from others and hear their experiences (I am guilty of doing the same thing myself before my first star class sailing), but what I've noticed from talking to other star class cruisers and Genies, in the 4 years or so since the program started, the minor details vary. The variances are due to the rules of each specific ship and the personalities of each particular Genie. For example, can you get Starbucks delivery, yes sometimes. Some ships won't even allow it and some Genies won't do it. Can you get the seafood tower and can it be delivered to your stateroom? Yes, again sometimes. Some ships don't even have the seafood tower on their menu, some will not deliver it on embarkation day while some have had success getting it delivered on embarkation day. Will the Genie reserve you loungers by the pool? Some will, some will not, they are not supposed to. Can you get lunch delivered to your room on the day that you arrive? Some ships allow, some do not. Can the Genie save you seats on the Royal Promenade for the parades? (not on Quantum, but just as another example) Some ships allow the Genie to do so, some will not. The list goes on... Basically, what I am trying to say is that while I love the Star Class program, it is most definitely not consistent. This leads to some disappointment from those who are expecting something because they heard someone else had it done etc. and then people blame the Genie. But sometimes their hands are tied too depending on the rules of the specific ship. It is very clear to be upfront and honest with your Genie about your expectations, but at the same time, sometimes it is good to step back a bit and let them surprise you. Those are usually the best moments.
  9. This sums up exactly how I feel right about now. Today marks the 5th sailing that I have lost since March. Add in one cancelled Phantom of the Opera on Broadway, one cancelled La Bamba dinner, and I am in an awful mood today!
  10. Lol! This is exactly what I tell my kids every cruise. They are getting a free cruise, zero complaints. They alternate the cot, so whoever gets the cot on one cruise, get the sofa bed the next.
  11. Well then I would say go for it! As long as whoever gets the cot can handle it for the duration of the cruise. It's actually fine. When we travel with our two kids, we always ask for a cot and the kids don't mind it. Although they did say the star class cot was better than the non-SC ones. Not sure if that is true. That was coming from a 10 year old lol. Or if you ask @CGTLH, he will tell you that no cot is tolerable, SC or not. lol
  12. I was only leery when I read your initial post because lately, most of the phone agents do not know what they are talking about, and they know even less about Star Class.
  13. Before you proceed any further, make sure that you get the verified. Usually, they will not allow you to book beyond the max capacity of the cabin unless it is for small child who can sleep in a pack and play. As far as the rollaway goes, in our past experiences, most stateroom attendants are quite accommodating. You just have to ask, and if there is one available, they will get you one, even if Royal says the room cannot accommodate one. If you're in Star class, just ask your Genie ahead of time when they contact you to arrange this.
  14. I just took a good look through my Visa statement. I have no cruise planner refunds or taxes back yet from AD 07/15/20 (cancellation announced 05/20/20) but I received my FCCs a week ago today.
  15. My July 15th Adventure sailing was cancelled and I got my FCCs back last Tuesday.
  16. Don’t know at this point if I am sad, or happy to announce that this blog is officially, “To be continued in 623 days!” Our journey back to Oasis is taking a detour in the form of Plan C, 8 Night Symphony next summer in 1744 ? and Oasis now will be 2022. ?
  17. Yes. CK is amazing! And yes, it is a good idea to make reservations for dinner (breakfast and lunch do not require reservations). For Junior Suite guests, CK is available for dinner only and only if there is availability so just be aware of that. JS guests have better luck getting into CK on some ships than others. YMMV. You definitely should try to make reservations on the first day for that. What is so good about CK? For starters, they have their own kitchen so the food is more fresh and hot. The venue is much smaller than the Main Dining Room so they prepare it when you order it. The flavour is also much better. And the menu is much more varied that the MDR. I have always said that CK rivals any other specialty restaurant, in fact, some dishes are the same as those that can be found in specialty and sometimes taste even better! The best example of that is Filet night in CK, their filet is the best onboard, better than Chops and Giovanni (IMO lol, some will disagree with me). The other thing that CK wins out on is the view! Especially on Oasis class ships, which Symphony is. No specialty restaurant, or MDR can beat the view and the ambiance of CK. Floor to ceiling windows, beautiful views of the sunset over dinner, I miss it so much just thinking about it! And the last thing is the service. Because the venue is a much smaller one, wait staff have the time to spend with you. They are not running around like crazy like in the MDR. I have a lot of photos of CK menus and food pics in my blogs (links are in my signature). I have on from Symphony from last July. It might be helpful so that you can get an idea of what it looks like and what food options there are available to you. #teamCK forever!
  18. It's rare! Is it the 08/21/2021 sailing? @WAAAYTOOO and I both jumped on booking that one!
  19. The times that we have gone, regular Lyft is around $40 one way. Lyft XL when we had the kids was between $75-80 one way.
  20. We usually fly into FLL from DTW because it is almost always cheaper. We love the Intercontinental Miami, especially the Bay view rooms. That is our go-to hotel when sailing from Miami. When is your August sailing on SY? @WAAAYTOOO and I are both on the 8 nighter in August 2021.
  21. Get used to it. That is a regular thing around here. They even have a whole thread about it. ?
