  1. Hey! I am on this sailing as well! No kids though. It's our yearly anniversary cruise. Leaving them at home.
  2. The ones I am watching seem to all be back now...
  3. Funny, I was just saying to a friend earlier this morning that when I did my early morning price checks, the suites on my sailing are indeed locked out. Nothing but JS right now and I know for a fact a ton of other categories were available yesterday morning. Noticed this on multiple sailings that I am watching.
  4. Meanwhile for Wonder...booked in a Crown Loft, minimum bids are: 1 BDR ATS $430pp 2 BDR ATS $720pp UFS $5050pp RLS $5050pp And there are no typos there lol
  5. Yay @TheHobbys! I am so happy to hear that you are back to cruising and blogging! Funny, your backstory sounds exactly like how mine will be next July 2024. My girls are just a year behind your kids (15/17) and next year when the older one graduates, we let her pick and she also picked Italy. We are cruising pretty much that same itinerary. Can't wait to follow along.
  6. Cortrans is excellent for larger groups. For your immediate family, I would think that Uber/Lyft is less hassle.
  7. Pricier yes, but definitely worth it for the convenience of that place. When booking Hyatt properties, I usually book a refundable rate and then price watch and adjust as time goes on. But even if it's not the Hyatt, I would still stay near the airport and make my way to PC the next morning. We have done that several times in the past when doing DCL with the kids.
  8. Getting in at that time, I would 100% stay at the Hyatt Regency right at the airport, eat at McCoy's (inside the Hyatt), go to bed and get up early the next day and head to Port Canaveral.
  9. I saw that too. Or rather a CC friend texted me while I was at work to tell me that. This has me worried. I am not due to drop a bunch on new bookings until the next release (Fall) so I sure hope it's all cleared up and clarified by then. And I really hope that "verbal confirmation" that TA got is not correct once the dust has settled.
  10. Does this only work a specialty restaurants? I am wondering if I could just do this at the bar in the suite lounge....
  11. There are still many out there who don't blink at losing the $250pp deposit for suites. For me, when I heard the news this morning, it doesn't matter in the long run. However, we are type to not book unless we have every intention of going so the money will have to go at some point either way. Not a big deal. What will make it a big deal for us is if they change the policy in place right now that allows you to change ship/sail date for $100pp penalty.
  12. Me too! Did not know that there were other 8th Grade teachers around here. I adore that age group. I agree with what others have said, there is lots to be learned outside of the classroom as well. When my kids were not in high school, and I was on my off years, we used to pull them out the week or two before Christmas to cruise. There are usually not too many kids around that time. I would think that September and early January would be good for less kids as well. Since my kids have entered high school, we are back to the high cost, full of kids cruises. When I retire in 6-7 years, Hubby and I will steer clear of all summer and school break cruises. I cannot wait.
  13. Apologies for those who jumped to conclusions. This forum is definitely for discussing things and events related to Royal Caribbean. Sorry to hear that you are not having a great time on Oasis after coming all this way to North America. As others have mentioned, tours can often be cancelled by the operator, not Royal. Also, I am a huge tea snob myself. I always bring my own. But yes, I when service is not great, that can compound the frustration. My sister is actually on the same sailing as you. I will have to chat up with her after she returns to see what her experience was this past week. Sorry again, and welcome to the message boards.
  14. Agree with @tonyfsu21. Noon or later is pretty safe for FLL if coming back from MIA. MIA has really long lines at TSA and for baggage check. FLL seems to run a bit faster. We usually take a 12:30pm flight from MIA back to DTW and we find that we have plenty of time for that.
  15. See this post: https://www.royalcaribbeanblog.com/2021/11/16/beginner-guide-sailing-star-class
  16. Darn! That puts me out of that one. We'll be in Europe.
  17. Was the driver also your guide? And did they set the tour itinerary or did you?
  18. I used to think that too. Until the March 2022 fiasco. If I had booked through Air2Sea, I could have saved $1500 (to fly from PIT-MIA instead of DTW) + $350 (cost of last minute car rental to drive from DTW-PIT) + $300 (last minute hotel stay at PIT airport) + major stress that we would miss our cruise and not be compensated at all and still suffering PTSD from that over a year later. In conclusion, IMO, it is worth the hassle.
  19. I was just thinking the same! lol jk But heck, #goals right there @twangster!
  20. That’s a good point. Thought has crossed my mind too but I just overlook it. Their system isn’t great. Like I said, even when I call, they tell me that there are only certain flights available (not ones I want) and then I give them the actual flight numbers that I am looking at, then they can find it. Or more recently, I called to book my flights for March 2024. First time I called, I did not like the price. I called back a few days later cause the price was more decent and they told me I had to wait to within 300 days for my sailing. I told them that is not true, that once I can see it on Delta direct, it should be available for booking, an another agent quoted me a price already a few days ago. Then they put me on hold and surprise, they could book it. So yeah, like all things Royal, nothing is perfect lol
  21. Why not call them directly? I hate the Air2Sea website. It doesn’t show all options that’s for sure. I have never once booked Air2Sea flights through the website for that very reason. When I want to make a new Air2Sea reservation, I call them directly. If there is a particular flight that I am interested in, I tell them the flight number and they can look up availability like that. Sometimes when they search initially, they don’t even get all the options.
  22. So you did a private tour? Just your family? And they picked you up at your hotel but you had to find your own way back?
  23. Also not a huge fan of Quantum class either but we have now sailed Anthem 3 times! lol That Grand Loft is one of my favourite rooms. We will be sailing Odyssey for New years this coming December. There is nothing wrong with Quantum class. It just comes down to personal preference. Some people love Quantum class. For myself, I don't care for it because I don't like how crowded it feels in certain areas. Crowds do not seem disperse as well on Quantum class compared to other ships. Also, we are big on shows and dining and there is not as much selection on Quantum compared to Oasis class. But like I said, I have now sailed Anthem 3 times now so while I don't love it, there is definitely nothing wrong with it.
  24. This is going to be my problem exactly next year when we head to the Med with our then 16/18 year old girls. We're planning a few days pre-cruise in Barcelona and a few days post cruise in Rome. The hotel is going to be a real issue. Following because this cruise itinerary is totally on my bucket list!
