AnthonyTaF reacted to WAAAYTOOO in AquaTheater Suite on the Allure
Am on the Allure now in 11330. It is even more amazing than I thought it would be. Like you, I was concerned that the photos may have over hyped these rooms but I assure you, that is not the case. My absolute ONLY complaint is that there are NO cabinets in the dressing area in the bedroom. NONE. There are 2 shallow drawers that are useless. Other than that, the room is perfect ! 8 chairs and 3 tables on the veranda (Matt).
As for the noise, with the doors closed (there are sliding glass doors to the balcony in both the living room and the bedroom), it is minimal, even during the Aqua Theater shows. The view is incredible. 270 degrees. I cannot recommend these rooms enough ! Next year I am in 8330 on Harmony. Can't wait !

AnthonyTaF reacted to WAAAYTOOO in Excursions on Jewel of the Seas
For someone going to a new destination for the first time, I always recommend that you take one of the "general overview" types of excursions. Something that explores the island/location in a general way. That way, you get a good flavor of what is there without confining yourself to one beach or attraction. Once you have the overview you will always be able to take a more directed excursion if you go back.

AnthonyTaF reacted to VacationShanna in AquaTheater Suite on the Allure
We are considering booking the AquaTheater Suite on the Allure Ship. The pictures are always deceiving so I was just wondering if anyone has any good pics of Deck 11, 12, or 14 or reviews? We aren't sure which deck to choose. Decks 11 & 12 are a little bigger but we weren't sure if it was worth it. Also, we are concerned with the noise factor being so close to the show when we have little ones that sleep early and take naps. Any advice is appreciated. Thank you!

AnthonyTaF reacted to hisfuzziness in Alternative to cash tip
Have a cruise in a few days, and was thinking of alternatives to cash tipping. I'm pretty sure I read somewhere about gifts or small items that the cabin stewards enjoy or could use that they cannot get on/off ship easily. Just looking for something to do other than (or in addition to) cold hard cash :)
Suggestions for specific items I could bring along, or look for while in port, to hook up a [hopefully] great cabin steward?

AnthonyTaF reacted to Hockeyman55 in Just Booked Harmony for May 2018
We just booked our first family cruise on the Harmony for May 2018 and super excited :D . This is our first cruise as a family with my last cruise back in the mid 90s in my teens, my wife's in the early 2000s and our 3 kids (will be 7,6 and 5 at time of cruise) first all together. Western Caribbean itinerary, 2 boardwalk balcony rooms since we will have my mom and brother with us also. My previous cruise was back on the old Norwegian ship the SS Norway so this will be quite a different experience for me. Im sure ill have tons of questions before then so will post here when the time comes.
417 days to go but who's counting lol

AnthonyTaF reacted to Lyrical in Sunscreen & Mexico
I have heard that in some Mexico Resorts they require that people are using only "biodegradable" sunscreen. I am wondering if some of you would mind recommending some different brands for us to pick up before our Cruise in April. We are traveling with two children and they normally use Babyganics, and we use Hawaiian Tropic SPF 30/50. Does anyone have any suggestions, or should we just use our normal sunscreen? Heading to Maya Chan Beach for our Costa Maya excursion.

AnthonyTaF reacted to JLMoran in World cruises -- how does the crew work to avoid / prevent boredom?
OK, I'm guessing no one here has actually gone on one of these. But after reading the descriptions and seeing how these cruises typically last anywhere between 66 and 110 days, I can't help but wonder... How the heck does the cruise line keep both the passengers and crew from going stir crazy and feeling total cabin fever on such a long trip?
Do they change out the show staff every couple of weeks so that they can present different shows in the theater over all that time? Change up the menus while they're at it? Swap out live performers for the pubs and other watering holes? I mean, these cruises tend to be on smaller ships like Voyager class, correct? So you're already talking about comparatively less to do on board during sea days than you get with a Freedom or Quantum class. I know I could only watch the same 2 or 3 theater shows a couple of times before I was wanting something different, and while having whatever specialty restaurant options helps diversify the menu, even that can get old after a while. The ship's library will help, certainly, and the big variety of ports to see. But there are still a good number of sea days while crossing the Atlantic and Pacific oceans, and that's where I'd imagine the risk of people getting bored out of their gourds is highest after an already long time on the ship.
I guess this is a big reason why they offer the flexibility to do different "legs" of the trip and embark / disembark when and where you want. But for those who really do want to do a true 'round-the-world cruise -- and I'll admit I've been contemplating something like that as a FANTASTIC bucket list item after I'm retired, assuming I can convince the wife to join me -- how do they manage things so everyone finally disembarks with a feeling of "My God, what an amazing trip!!", and the crew is also feeling good at the end of it all?
And of course, I can't end this without mentioning the retiree noted in one of my recent RCI emails who has decided to live out her remaining days on a cruise ship. ;)

AnthonyTaF reacted to Drewmommy in St Thomas - Magens Bay Beach Getaway
I noticed in my Cruise Planner that this excursion is on sale for $21/adult and $13/kids. How much would it cost approximately to take a taxi to Magens Bay Beach from the port and back for 3 people? Trying to compare the cost. If would cost us $55 total to book through the cruise line but we'd be covered in case something were to cause a delay in getting back to the ship.

Hi ~ We just booked our first RC cruise for Alaska in June 2017. We have been given cabin 9320 (our first time in a balcony cabin). Has anyone ever been in that cabin and can share pictures/videos/advice? Thanks
