FCC - your travel agent does not get a copy
AnnetteJackson replied to AnnetteJackson's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
Typically they send them about 7 to 10 days after, after Oasis last year it took almost a month because the Cuba change happened at the same time. On this one, I would say more towards a month as a guess. With the easy ones being done first and then any of the more complicated situations like Casino or FCC already had been applied on the reservation, taking longer. -
Hey, Wanted to put this out there for everyone. While Travel Planners get lots of emails about cruise planner sales, royal ups, changes in itineraries etc.... we do not get copies of your Future Cruise Credits. (FCC). The cruise lines send those directly to you the client because they are not tied to the agency you booked with. This way you can book with a deposit what you would like, with whom you would like and then apply that FCC to your booking. Lots of questions on this, so figured make it a topic - although I don't know how many people search a topic before asking. It's all good!

Well said. One thing to consider is if you are cancelling your upcoming cruise under the "Virus rules" and getting a FCC for your rooms. Those FCC's are tied to you and not the agency. This means you could find new cruises and use that with another agency. Not saying you need to cancel - if you still want to cruise your TA on record is going to have to work on that for you, or you could request to have them turned back over to you. Normally that would take 3 to 5 business days but right now - no clue. Sorry you are going thru this, but I would recommend next time interview a few agents to make sure you are going to get the agent or agency that you feel would work best for you.

I think that is what we are seeing people cancel because of more than the virus but the fear of being quarantined. Many people cannot miss work or work from home for 14 days. This is a personal decision for everyone and only you know your health, family and work situations. The great news is you dont have to rush to make the decision.

Future Cruise Credit (FCC) question
AnnetteJackson replied to KenCP's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
Yes, you can. The FCC is the clients and is never attached to an agency until it is applied to a booking. -
Hey I am sure this is better answered by the agent with us because there are a lot of moving parts. Anytime you have a FCC on a cruise and then are looking to move things around it can make things a little harder and more complicated.... I am sure they will be looking at how many different ways they can get an upgrade for you but it may take a little time for them to get back to you just because the wait times to get thru are well over and hour for us right now.

As you can all imagine this is an ever changing world right now in the cruise world.... I just finished a call where they explained that everyone Sailing by the end of July has the option to either of these options. I know some people were concerned and wanted a refund... Cancel up to 48 hours and get a FCC for your full amount paid and you must use this by Dec 2021 OR You can waive that and go with the regular cancellation penalties which after final payment for refundable deposits it would be (depending on when you booked) 75 to 43 days - $100 per guest 42 to 29 days - 50% per guest 28 to 15 days - 75% per guest 14 to 0 days - 100% per guest IF you have a nonrefundable - there is a $100 per guest penalty if you cancel prior to 75 days. OR... if you booked after Jan 2019 your cancellations would be 89 to 75 days - $100 per guest 74 to 61 days - 50% per guest 60 to 31 days - 75% per guest 14 to 0 days - 100% per guest IF you have a nonrefundable - there is a $100 per guest penalty if you cancel prior to 89 days.

You can call in and request a complimentary upgrade but they will not refund back after final payment in this situation.

They are working but are overwhelmed. It can take several tries to get thru to a hold line for a long wait. If you are not going in the next week or so, I would recommend calling next week when possibly the wait time is not as bad

Thank you to all of you for your kind words. It seems in the TA world every year or two there is something that comes around such as this that shows people why they might not want to book direct - - the hold on the phone line or busy signal! HAHA While we are busy, it is you the client that we do this for because we love it. Because many of us at MEI have been doing this for so long, we have lots of experience at holding on the phone, placing holds for new bookings online, chatting with another agent in the agency to either vent (so we don't toss the computer or phone out the window) , and we can order a pizza for dinner because we assume we will be on the phone til after dinner! ???

Upgraded: Worth the time on hold!!
AnnetteJackson replied to PhantomWolf's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
I have heard that after the royal up thye are not allowing for changes, but had not heard a definate on this. You can always ask about upgrades at the port. -
Because you can decide up to 48 hours prior, with the same result if you cancel, you have time to research gather facts and decide closer to your cruise.

Bargain hunting and Solo questions
AnnetteJackson replied to deep1's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
This is it because as soon as you hit 1 - the categories can change on you. Make sure you are comparing the same categories. -
I am the Operations Manager at MEI. These agent work with me to form a team to work for this board.
-
Perfect! All of our agents are great, but there are times that communication styles dont match. Feel free to reach out to me if you have any concerns and I can get you moved to another agent that works more to your communication style.

Fluctuations in Royalup bid ranges
AnnetteJackson replied to Ogilthorpe's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
Just make sure they are keeping your same reservation number and all is good. Every once in awhile they will try to say they have to cancel and rebook you to get the deal - that would make for a mess and you could lose that drink package. -
Possible gov’t restrictions. Nooo!!!!
AnnetteJackson replied to Jill's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
I will say if you look at the entire article there is good info about what to consider when making this decision for you and your family. -
I love what @Matt says. At Final payment he doesn't look anymore. He knows I will take care of him as his TA but at final he is ok paying what he paid. Many cruises have last minute inventory sales - even before the virus. There are always people that didn't need to plan to take a cruise and can wait to find the last minutes deals.
