  1. It's funny, you used the term, "nickel & dimeing", I used the term "ala-carteing" --- As someone who grew up on the Disney product, as Fmanke said, there's nobody that does it better in terms of providing a memorable vacation for the entire family ..... What I personally like about the way that RCL does it, is the fact that you're not forced to buy something, hidden cost or otherwise, that you may not use...... plus, now that I'm 54, I don't need something that's geared so much towards kids, AND, I do enjoy a casino. Perhaps that's an additional factor as to why Disney Cruises cost so much more, they have to make up for lost revenue. I love the fact that I can start with a lower base rate for the cruise, and all of us in the family can pick and choose the "add-ons" in order to create a more personalized, perfect vacation. Just my opinion, Disney does what they do really well, and so does Royal Caribbean, you just have to do your homework, and decide on what works best for you and your family. Mark
  2. Is everything back to normal with the gangway? I had heard that it was, in fact, repaired and operational as of a month or so ago. Oh, and that dirty window is from the Carnival Pride (Grandeur would NEVER get that bad)
  3. Tisk, Tisk, Tisk .... What are we going to do with you?
  4. You know what sort of surprises me .... there are no cruises out of Florida ports to Bermuda ..... If Anthem and Grandeur can do cruises that combine Bermuda and the Bahamas, you would think cruises out of Florida could do the same thing, only it would be a somewhat reversed itinerary.
  5. I just noticed on the Nassau webcam, the crown & anchor signage has been repaired and is all lit up.
  6. Thanks Matt .... Coming from you, I feel so much better .....
  7. Looks like WAAAYTOOO is going to have to give us the real scoop
  8. When I was recently at Arby's and saw that they had Triangle Hash Browns ........ The Windjammer breakfast, oh how I miss thee. I'm sure we all see reminders in the "real world" that take us back to our "Happy Place"
  9. I had heard about the new pool deck and the LED Movie Screen ...... the only other thing I can't get confirmation on is the repairs on the Deck 10 (the infamous crack)
  10. There was a system error earlier this week with my Grandeur Cruise in September ..... I had gotten a notice that it had dropped by 59% ($200 per person for a 5-nighter) -- so I check it out, it did take me to the RCL web site. When I called RCL, they said it was a system glitch and that it was NOT a valid rate .... about 8 hours later, I received a second notice that it went up 59% (back to normal)
  11. I could handle Dynamic Dining ... In theory, it seemed like a lot fun, although, I wonder if it would ever work on the smaller ships with limited dining options.
  12. NOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!! I hope it just stays a rumor and NOT become a fact.
  13. We'll also be back in 2018 for the Grandeur 7-nighter ... That's when we'll head up to St. George, Tobacco Bay, and all the fun stuff to do up there since we'll have 2 overnights there.
  14. This will be our second trip there (we were there last September, loved it so much, we've decided to do it again. We did Horseshoe Beach last time .... and as far as Hamilton goes, DEAD after 5:00 it seems. We rode a combo of the bus and ferry from Hamilton back to the Dockyard. As for Day 2, that's our shopping day .... we stay close to the port, we will NOT be pier runners.
  15. I think we're going to go ahead and do the Devil's Isle Cruise/Beach/Snorkel ..... It just sounds like fun, and, it's a new experience to the both of us. And if we don't enjoy ourselves, we just won't do it again, but you never know till you try.
  16. I've seen a lot of comments on CC about this one .... being at night, you really couldn't see anything through the glass bottom ..... Now granted, I myself have not done this one, and none of the comments were truly bad, I guess if I had to put it in one word, lackluster comes to mind.
  17. My wife and I are looking at this one closely ..... the price seems right, and it seems like the right mix of things to do, Just wondering if others have done it and what were your thoughts, Thanks in advance, Mark
  18. You'll also need cash if you plan on spending any time in the casino.....
  19. I have absolutely never heard of this ..... Tyna and I love dinner theaters in general, plus a local scenic railroad does murder mystery trains periodically which are also a lot of fun.... Do these occur on all ships/sailings? Or are they only on sailings of 7+ nights? Just trying to get a feel for them so I don't inadvertently miss them. Thanks, Mark
  20. You're thinking Quantum Class being in Asia ..... however, there's hope.... Anthem of the Seas, which IS Quantum Class sails out of Bayonne, NJ (NYC Metro Area) --- so, you still have a shot at it ...
  21. That's pretty much what I do for everything .... I gave up on doing things through the web site long ago.
  22. You are so right --- with the proximity of I-95 to the Maryland Cruise Terminal - you just can't beat it.
  23. When we were on Grandeur ..... it was fantastic, the only area where it seemed to struggle a little was in the cabin itself (Deck 3 Inside)
  24. We tried to go off the grid last September, it lasted all of 24 hours because of the exact reasons you mentioned..... The "what if......." factor. With the advent of wi-fi calling, we found ourselves actually being able to relax more knowing everything back home was A-OK.
