Has anyone done the Cruise, Snorkel & Beach excursion at Puerto Plata.
I am trying to find out if the excursion takes place on a catamaran vs other style boat. I have generally found the 'other style' boats to be pretty bad. Usually something that is completely inappropriate for the activity.
We took a snorkeling excursion in Belize that was really just a glorified hull with benches and used a ladder with a hook over the side to get back on - no sort of handles or grips above the hull or anything to hold onto. When stepping over the hull to get back on the back on board, my foot slipped on the deck and my leg slid against a sharp edge, slicing me from mid-calf to mid-thigh. It bled, but thankfully wasn't deep enough to require stiches. Now I am very careful about what boats I take out.
In general, the boating equipment is lacking in many of these poorer Caribbean nations. At least a Catamaran usually has stairs to get to the ocean and back.
