I understand that the Solarium is for people over 16 and i have no intention of taking any spots from those over 16 but did have a few questions
But could I walk through solarium with 13yr old to take picture out of one of viewing areas where people take the "king of the world" pics?
How about the breakfast/lunch buffet? Could 13yr come in and dine?

Here is my take on this.
With other modes of travel, if a case of COVID that needs medical attention is found , they can turn around, make emergency landings, etc. That would be difficult to do with a cruise ship, especially if it is in the middle of the ocean.
Another thing, cruising is not a necessity, it is non-essential. We can even say it is a luxury. Other modes of travel are needed to be in operation to keep essential business going.
Please don't think I'm being insensitive to the plight of cruise crew members. Half my church in the Philippines are displaced cruise ship workers, my sons included. Their savings have all been depleted after a year of not working. I want them to be called back to work again but when I think of the accommodations and living conditions of crew members in "steerage", I have second thoughts. I don't know how much care they will get from the ships' medical crew if they get COVID. Vaccination is hard to get in the Philippines at the moment.
I want to be able to cruise again as much as many people here but I'm being realistic. I know the CDC is not perfect but I believe it is doing what it can to be a part of the solution, not the problem.
With that said...
Here are other businesses that are non-essential and a luxury to some people as well but are allowed to resume operations:
1. Airlines.
2. Restaurants
3. Casinos
4. Hotels
5. Sports and attending games
6. Colleges
7. Massage parlors
8. Nail Salons
9. Gyms
10. Certain Retail Stores
Keeping Cruising suspended for 2 seasons affects more than just passengers and crew. It affects all the jobs created at the Embarkation port cities in the US as well. Port Workers, Hotels, restaurants, etc. Even the airlines are affect because of less flights being scheduled because of cruising is shut down. Thus, jobs lost, layoffs and furloughs. I understand that the CDC is concerned with the physical well being but that is where policy needs to be set looking at all factors, including economics which in turn create their own set of societal issues. This where pressure needs to be put on local governments and politicians in the areas that are hardest hit with economic loss.
Just look at how the "science" changed from the CDC with schools reopening. All of a sudden the magic 6ft rule is now 3ft. The CDC is ignoring the science in this case in 2021 and refusing to look at the data in other parts of the world where cruising has resumed
The CDC and US Government at large is making a big mistake if they do not allow cruises to return to the US before November 1.

Some people advocating boycott of RCL because of mandating that vaccines required on the newly announced cruises?

I have flown for business 4 times for business since the pandemic has started. My flight last week was from the US east coast to Oklahoma. Every flight I have taken has been full with a mixture of business people and recreation travelers. Yes, people are masked but passengers are sitting inches away from another. Drink and snacks are served when ppl can take off masks. And it’s very questionable, what level of protection masks provide
I haven’t heard of airlines being a source of infection.
when I see packed planes, airports, and airport trams packed with people, I seriously question the CDC not allowing cruising to take place. Even more so after listening to RCL CEO with the numbers of cruisers during the pandemic and cases of Covid. I would have to watch again but it was well under 100 cases of Covid with 100,000 passengersi know cruising isn’t a priority for the CDC but I think they fail to see the economic impact abs job loss in cities with cruise ports and the surrounding hospitality industry that benefits from bringing cruising back in the US
I hope with the vaccine that pressure will start to mount on the CDC to restart cruising by June/July

If I take the 125% cruise planner offer and apply to new cruise, does anyone know if it will only be applicable to categories that i had previously purchased such as if i spent $1000 on drink package for 2 would the new $1250 credit (just using round numbers to make easier) only be available for food & Beverage category or could I use the credit on any cruise planner purchase
just wonder if 125% credit will be in one big bucket or per category of previous purchases

Thank you both for the info! I forgot to ask, is there a deadline for replacing someone on a cruise before sail date?

I am planning a cruise in July 2021, already paid deposit and i just learned my 19 year old step daughter may not be able to go.
The reservation is in my name. we are a party of 4 staying in one cabin.
Could i replace my step daughter if she does not go?
And would any purchases on cruise planner be transferrable to her?
Last question, my wife and I have purchased deluxe beverage package. If i can replace her and her replacement is over 21, would we automatically be charged for the going rate of beverage package for her?

Air travel and social distancing. Now thats a joke. I have been on multiple flights over the last year and every time i am sitting inches from someone. Just goes to show you how much of CDC recommendations are NOT based on true Science and data
