File this under etiquette. I can tell you as an experienced cruiser, it's not pleasant having people eating in areas not designated for eating. Windjammer, etc. are staffed and equipped to handle food, dishes and clean up. Bars and other common areas are not. As @toodle68 said, the pool deck especially.

Isn't it fun to try and find a table on the pool deck only to have it filled with dirty dishes?  I also like tripping over plates and glasses.  Me and a guy I work with have a saying when we see that -- Don't worry, Ron will get it.............

Usually , I will give some cache at day 7 so I can give the extra tip base on the service I got.

I know that some people recommended to give it in the beginning of the cruise to assure good service but I do not think you need to bribe someone for good service , it is something which expected from him/her and part of the job.  I even heard some cabin attended are offended if you give a tip in the beginning

Its funny you should mention giving at the beginning of the cruise, I did that once on the Allure.  Got the worse service I've ever received.  It was so bad I didn't even get my luggage tags for departure.  I called and was told they would have them to me before midnight, never got them.  That started the carry off for my wife and myself.  So, I don't give anything up front anymore.

We're taking a "scouting" trip to The Villages next month just to see how it is there.  We have a number of friends who are going to retire there within the next few years (some as early as May of this year).

I have heard good and bad things about it.  Neither of us are golfers so I'm not sure if we would use the amenities as much as our golf-loving friends...but we're definitely coming down there SOMEwhere...and soon.  It's 9 degrees here in northern Virginia today !  YIKES

Bring a golf cart..  From what I understand there is a lot of promiscuity among the retires.  But there are some nice housing in gated communities.  But if you go to the "down town" area you will need a golf cart or you'll get run over.

It definitely has its advantages!  The pier is literally 10 to 15 minutes from my house

Ok, there is one negative, I have to drive right by the cruise terminals every day on the way to and from work.  Do you have any idea how hard that is to be a cruise addict and have these ships dangling under my nose all week???  When I leave work, I see the ships heading out of the port, and my mind sits there and counts down the days until my next cruise....

That's nice, I thought I was doing good being between Tampa and Orlando..
