Also, I will put a plug in for jewelers mutual insurance. I have 5+ precious metal Rolex watch’s all in the $xx,xxx.xx price range and they are all insured (as are my wife’s). This is piece of mind. I never have to worry about leaving our watches in the room safe or taking them with us off the ship. You should look into this option if you are concerned at all about where or when you can where your timepieces. And also for the record, zero fu*ks given about other people’s reaction to our watches. We wear them for us and nobody else. With that being said in the 20 years I’ve been wearing Rolex watches I’ve only had a handful of people notice or comment on my watch. People (unless they are watch fanatics) don’t notice watches and especially yellow gold watches as they assume that it’s a fake gold Michael Kors exc.

Personally, I never go anywhere w/o my Rolex.

Ok if that’s the case, American Icon Brewery, Louis Bossis, el Camino, B squared, foxy brown, quarterdeck on 17th street.

Tap 42 is a pretty great spot but I believe they will be on Las Olas specifically.

I would suggest Big City Tavern or B Squared (great place). Las Olas will be pretty busy on a Friday @ 6:00 pm for happy hour but it should be ok since we are out of season and the crowds are basically cut in 1/2. PS: I can see my house in the distance in the last pic!

We always do this and never had an issue. Like others have said, every square inch of these ships are monitored w/ security cameras. If someone was foolish enough to steal your bag they would most certainly get busted quick by security.

It’s really not that bad. If you arrive at 10:30 you almost walk right on the ship. Not much waiting at all.

I was confused by when you mentioned 5 minutes to La Bamba because so do I. There are multiple La Bambas though. @Lovetocruise2002 Is referencing the one on 17th street causeway next to the port. This one is 5 minutes from my house in the Harbor Inlet neighborhood. I was thinking “we’re neighbors”! Lol.

AMC Coral Ridge is pretty much the same distance in the other direction. That’s a good option as well.

There’s a Regal Theatre in the Oakwood Plaza off Sterling Road. I think that might be the closest to the Hilton Marina. 10-15 min Uber ride.

IMHO- Leave the house at 7:00am. That should get you to the port right around 10:30 and that’s the sweet spot. Don’t be deterred by the notion that 6000 guests and 2500 crew members will be chaotic. RC and the folks at Port Everglades have pretty much mastered the embarkation process with Oasis Class ships. It’s surprisingly a very smooth process.

Not only is it big, it’s chaos on the weekday mornings. I think you made a good decision.

Way too many unknown variables. 1. If it’s a weekend your chances are better. Weekday mornings are a traffic nightmare in Downtown. 2. Are you in a suite so that you can be expedited off the ship? 3. Issues with customs for the entire ship. Sometimes they delay the entire ship for hours doing a “random” inspection. I can tell you from experience week in and week out at Port Everglades that these inspections happen more then one might think. You should maybe look at the 3:00pm departure and take any potential for stress out of your vacation. You could grab a Cuban coffee at Bayside and then have a nice lunch before heading to MIA.

Your brave as this will require everything to go just right. I say 50/50 shot that you end up on this flight.

Damn. I have a cruise booked on Virgin to Cuba next year. So long for that. I did however manage to get more Cuban cigars then 10 adults could ever smoke in a lifetime so I feel good about that. There will be many relaxing Key West & Fort Lauderdale evenings with a Cuban cigar in hand.... Guess the next move is to cancel our voyage on Mr Bransons scarlet lady.

I hope there’s no impact as I have yet to visit Havana.

What’s the “over/under” on going to Havana in 14 days based on the new travel restrictions? Not sure how this will affect the cruise industry.

In this case you may want to utilize the shuttle service. Its only a 10 min ride and 5 of those 10 minutes you will be in line at the port entry.

Yes, my point exactly. No time to get hung up on an activity. Might as well stay on the ship until last moment then head to airport. If you had a couple more hours and we’re familiar with the area, that would open up more possibilities.

Here’s a mark up for you to get a better idea. You will notice everything is within a close proximity to either I-595 or I-95 which makes it very easy to get to the port on sailing day.
