  1. Yes, I’ve been upgraded on boarding day after boarding the ship once but usually it’s 1-2 days before sailing. Royal up these days is largely a pipe dream so you have the right idea not holding your breath. Good luck
  2. Shorts 100% of the time. Vacation in the Caribbean = no pants. Nobody in that MDR cares what you wear. I’ve seen some borderline offensive logos and nobody bats an eye. Do what makes you happy and comfortable on vacation.
  3. IMHO if you want to experience the culture and food head over to Versailles and have lunch or dinner and check that box. I wouldn’t consider Little Havana as a destination.
  4. This is going to be all over the place because ultimately it’s up to the guest but since you asked…. For a 7 day cruise (non star class) room attendant $200.00 waiter/assistant $100.00 since we mainly dine in speciality venues. waiter/waitress in speciality dining in addition to auto gratuity: $10-$20 per meal.
  5. As you can see, both Labadee and Jamaica are dangerous:
  6. This is probably the safest place you will go on your cruise. No issues at all. This is not “Haiti” like Port Au Prince style Haiti in any way. Don’t spend even one minute being concerned with this.
  7. Dania Pointe. Still close but not prime location like Embassy. The positive is there are plenty of dining options within walking distance of the Garden Inn. 15 min Uber ride to Port Everglades.
  8. Yes, it’s in the perfect location. There are certainly nicer hotels at that tier but the location is key. During season it’s a “no go” for many because of the excessive price increase. Dinner at La Bamba and homemade ice cream at Razzleberry across the street!
  9. I don’t even know about this “BOGO” and we have been D+ for at least 2 years. Is this new?
  10. We tried dinner & brunch and you cant go wrong with either! The service was excellent in March so we booked both again for November. The crab beignets are blah IMHO.
  11. Yep, I agree. Much like park cafe or the solarium bistro, by day 3 the cats out of the bag and it’s crowded with people. RC certainly needs to resolve this issue sooner than later especially with suite prices at a massive premium these day it only makes sense.
  12. In March they were checking seapass cards on the Sundeck but that must not be standard procedure. I saw quite a few people get asked politely to leave by the staff. I hope they resolve this issue soon.
  13. Zero logic which makes sense for a casino program with no organization or logic. It seems crazy to think the company has the very best loyalty program in the business and cannot use this same layout for the club royale.
  14. The entire program has gone downhill. The comps are laughable. I vote they revamp the entire casino program and make it more transparent. Making any type of casino comp reservation is more confusing then it is worthy of the discount. What happened to the generosity of the past when the casino would send a rep to the MDR and offer to buy you a filet & lobster from Chops w/ a bottle of wine?
  15. You will have better luck calling RC or the travel agent you booked through and pay outright for the balcony cabin and then maybe placing a Royal up bid for the junior suite. The probability of winning a Royal up is not great at all and it will most likely disappoint you.
  16. The advantage of Uber or Lyft is that you go direct to the destination and that’s it. No car to pick up/park or drop off. The ride is just shy of horrifically boring IMHO and the thought of voluntarily getting on a bus for this trip is a mistake. I noticed you didn’t mention cost being an issue so do yourself a favor and just order Uber or Lyft and be done with it.
  17. Swap out the beach day in Honduras for something else and go with a beach club in Cozumel. You really can’t go wrong with a beach club in Cozumel especially for teenagers.
  18. Great choice. Yes it includes transportation and it’s a really great spot to spend the afternoon. As far as what the ticket includes, you get access to the pool and lounge chairs. Drinks, food, cabana, zip line exc is at an extra cost. There are some “waterfalls” you can climb up and jump off which my kids absolutely loved. I would recommend this place if you are looking to just lounge and relax.
  19. The snail mail is a complete waste of valuable time. If you have a complaint you should reach out to RC via social media channels and try to get the message out that way. In the past, I have had luck with emailing Sasha w/ corporate in the Miami offices after our loft flooded. [email protected]
  20. Has anyone actually received follow up on that post cruise survey even after indicating you would like someone to follow up? I’ve never had any luck.
  21. Fort Lauderdale is better, cheaper and much less congested than Miami Dade County. If you can save money flying into FLL, the trip to Port of Miami is quick and easy on cruise day. If you decide to stay here, let me know if you need any suggestions for Fort Lauderdale as I am a long time local and live the South Florida lifestyle!
  22. The bow of the ship specifically around the anchor takes a beating from the sea. Maybe they were waiting on material which was necessary to get the job done or possibly the qualified personnel to perform the work? If they do this maintenance in a US port then there are strict safety regulations regarding OSHA protocol (certifications, PPE exc) that the crew may have needed re-certification on? All this stuff takes time and could cause delays. I can assure you of one thing, the company knows what the ship looks like when it’s docked for the world to see and it’s obviously in their best interest to keep it looking fresh. RC must have had a good reason to not just slop some paint on it.
