Our first cruise on the Serenade of the Seas, Oct 2nd
WHStoneman replied to Thomasbeau's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
Enjoy your trip....it will be exactly what you make it. And one tip....DO NOT flush Wet Ones! -
I have been trying to buy some Royal Gifts on line for delivery to our cabin. Can't seem to make RCL find my reservation number or authorize a purchase. Any one else having trouble?

Best ships to sail on? Any ships to avoid?
WHStoneman replied to sweetnugomine's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
If you are not concerned with price, I would suggest Crystal Cruise Line. -
We will make reservations for Marmalade Restaurant & Wine Bar or Verde Mesa Both are some of the best in San Juan and worth EVERY penny to dine. I believe they do not open until 6PM...and both will take reservations. Each are walking distance from Pier 4 where your cruise ship will be docked. For a taxi to Condado area, I would highly suggest Cocina Abierta. Outstanding...creative...unique.

What about your cruise makes you excited?
WHStoneman replied to cjappert's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
White Linen Breakfast in the Leonardo Dining Room, The Solarium, exploring ports and this year we will be visiting three ports I have never been to before. After all, you can go to Cozumel just so many times....vbg~!! -
As with anything in life...you only should be concerned about things YOU have control over. That doesn't include the weather, airline departures, late sailings fog, etal. Relax and enjoy....accept everything as an adventure....not a life altering disappointment. You will have fun. Bring your luggage and leave your baggage at home! And for luggage...pack well and then take half out and leave it home...you won't need it.

Transportation for FFL to Port Everglades
WHStoneman replied to nydvc's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
The two are practically across from each other divided by US1.....as a matter of fact, you can see one from the other. Take a cab.....and you won't be bothered with rental car pick up and drop off. -
If you believe these negative comments about the Navigator, they will be true. Between now and next August, there will be over 3000 passengers every week, (total more than 156,000) that will love their experience aboard the Navigator. Less than 1% will be miserable. If YOU choose to be that 1% it will be awful. .....relax...enjoy....you will have a wonderful memorable time. Bon Voyage!

You will not be out the $20 bucks each...they will just hold the confiscated bottles until disembarkation.

johnny rockets - please explain it to me
WHStoneman replied to cjappert's topic in Royal Caribbean Dining
Johnny Rocket stateside remains pedestrian at best. I doubt the sea air improves on their quality. When you are mediocre, you will always be at your best. The Chefs employed by RCL are very talented and present outstanding cuisine. And missing the Chef's Table and other offerings is a true error. YMMV. Bon Appétit! -
When does Dining reservations open?
WHStoneman replied to Golf4Tony's topic in Royal Caribbean Dining
Freedom of the Seas dining opened up August 13, 2016 for sail date of January 7, 2017. -
You can use your phone anywhere....but it will depend on how much you want to pay for that convenience. Could be pricy....I have heard of folks having a $1500 bill when getting back home. I know you can use your Verizon phone at no additional cost in San Juan since it is a US property. We stayed there for a week and it was regular calling and texting. Check with YOUR SERVICE PROVIDER before you leave home and tell them where you will be traveling.

My partner and I have always "checked in" using separate cards for payment. You must do this when the boarding at the pier. At the end of your cruise, you will receive separate folios for your purchases which really makes it convenient and no hassles.

Dining reservations open - freedome - January 2017
WHStoneman replied to cjappert's topic in Royal Caribbean Dining
Thanks for the heads up!! Got my three nighter this afternoon. -
Just my opinion...and you can take it or leave it. It appears you have created a "mandatory work schedule" you intend to adhere to. This is VACATION...you relax...you enjoy, you explore. Get together at breakfast and suggest your day's activities. If you don't make it to dinner at 6PM sharp....you vacation will not be ruined. Do something unexpected and spontaneous. You just might want to try Giovanni's on day two, four or six. What difference will it make? Any confirmed reservation can be cancelled at any point and a new one could be made at 4PM. The Staff and Management will not give it a second thought. Enjoy!

Do you have the extension of the booking agent you dealt with? My agent is Michael Perez 800-859-7225 ex 13158. Maybe you could call him and he would direct you to the right extension.

I only book when kids are most likely to be in school, i.e. first week in January. Not to save money....but to save my sanity.

Just made my first ever dinning reservations for a RCCL
WHStoneman replied to EmersonNZ's topic in Royal Caribbean Dining
Freedom of the Seas is 154 days away...and I still can't make any reservations. Nice thing about your reservations are they can be cancelled. Enjoy your adventure....sounds perfect to me. -
You can bet your bootie it isn't Dom or Cristal...vbg. I have enjoyed "open bar" on CCL as a upper level returning guest....but those things are by invitation only and each guest will receive their personal invite. No friends invited....they never offer a "cabin" invite.

San Juan Metro Bus to Coranado Beach or Ocean Park
WHStoneman replied to amejiajr8's topic in Shore Excursions
We stayed in San Juan for a week and used the public bus system frequently. Never had a problem with language. Bus fare was 75 cents per trip and ran frequently. Bus terminal is about three blocks from the pier to it is easy to get to. Bus stops at La Concha which is directly in the Condado. Very nice resort where we stayed. I would feel very comfortable using their system since a cab ride will be twenty bucks per trip. -
I would guess there is a package for every guest....but I can tell you I would not spend $40 to $70 per day if I were at home. As a matter of fact, I wouldn't spend that much a month at home. Not knowing how many purchase on line before boarding, I can tell you for sure I have seen lines at the desk waiting to purchase on board. I counted $1500 purchases from guests in 30 minutes. It must be the perfect deal for someone.

Not many of us have the power to compel RCL to adhere to a posted itinerary. Good luck and enjoy your vacation!

Most ships have a qualified medical professionals aboard...but you must remember you are not at Mayo or the Cleveland Clinic. If your condition is that "critical" maybe you should reconsider your trip ....you will be in the middle of the ocean and any Captain will not be able to return to a US port at a moment's notice.
