The Solarium pool bar is almost always my favorite for that reason. I always seem to make friends with the bartenders there.

I'd also recommend taking a look at Nachi Cocom. Only about 100 people allowed in per day and $55 all inclusive. I highly recommend it ... we went in November for the first time and plan to go back in October while on our honeymoon cruise.

As a vegetarian (I do tend to eat fish when I'm on board though, so not a very good one), hearing people get super excited about honey stung chicken and roast beef sandwiches is just not really something I could ever relate to. Now.. either WJ curry or an embarkation day visit to Johnny Rocket's for a Streamliner? Now we're talking.

I think this is one of those calls you make between whether you prefer a big ship or small ship. Jewel is among the largest of the small ships and Adventure is among the smallest of the large ships. Really comes down to how important a promenade is to you, IMO. Jewel was also refurbished fairly recently.

I think the big "catch" here is being forced to sit through a big sales pitch and sit down and have someone try and sell you a really nice sounding timeshare. I have a coworker who used to do this and IIRC, he'd go in with his set intention of not paying a dime and just get his free Carnival cruise. It's a pain in the butt, but free cruise. That said - I have absolutely no idea about this company and no desire to find out.

Probably not actually helpful ... but I just dog-sat for my Uncle who took this cruise with his girlfriend on the MSC Divina this year and it was their first cruise. Hope he books again next year to try out RCCL!

Maybe it's just me and I don't like change and there's probably a really great reason for this... but this strikes me as a really annoying process.

Awesome! I'm excited to follow this one along - I love Brilliance and I think a rock charter would be INSANELY fun (for me, anyway... my fiance doesn't share my affection for rock music). I'd love to take part in one someday. I once boarded Independence following up a heavy metal charter, and it was funny to see the sea of faded black band t-shirts and tired hungover faces waiting for their transportation away from port. That said, it was a total pain embarking because the stage tear down took longer than it normally would and some of the late night partiers (from what I understand) refused to leave the ship. ANYWAY... Super excited for you and looking forward to following along! :)

I was just in San Diego recently and had dinner at Ballast Point one night (it was awesome!) and just happened to be there shortly after "Victory at Sea" day when they had all of their variants out... I'm so sad I live so far away. I love San Diego so much.
