We are sailing on the NCL Getaway in November 2019 and we are not getting the drink package even if we use the free perk to add it instead of the dining option will would still have to pay 20% fee just to have the drink package. There is no way we would get our monies worth doing that. We might have 1 or 2 drinks per day and considering that the drink package does not include bottled water - well it's just not for us. We will use that money for excursions!

We were on the Radiance this summer and we had AT&T cell service most of the time with the exception of an hour or two total. We also had the VOOM surf and stream. They only thing that seemed slow was trying to upload pictures to FB and also texting pics.

How important is it to buy the extra dining package?

We have never done the special dining either. We have always enjoyed the MDR. We also prefer the MDR for breakfast also. My hubby is quite picky when it comes to eating and he enjoys the MDR. -
Now my mission will be to keep checking for this...There is hope on the horizon ?

That is exactly what happened to my son-in-law! It all sounds good until you start seeing the "fine" print! Planning a cruise is supposed to be fun and relaxing instead of being full of STRESS! I may need to plan a RCI cruise before and after the NCL one! ?

Oh wow! I guess this will be my one and only with NCL. I am a little OCD when it comes to stuff. I like to pick my seat for flying and I like to have the same table at dinner during a cruise. Apparently, there isn't a traditional dining anything with NCL. I am NOT a "fly by the seat of your pants" type of girl; however, I will be on this cruise ?

Exactly! We can change our specialty dining for the UBP but you will have to pay the gratuity on $623 per person which is $124.60 per person. I think we will just pay as we go as I doubt we will spend over $249.20 between the two of us anyway.

I don't like Pepsi either...but I like my bubbles so I guess it will be club soda and lemon for me!

I know - me either! I assume that they will have "drinks of the Day" specials - hopefully!!

As you guys know, we have our 1st NCL (Gateway Nov 2019) cruise booked (son-in-law booked this for our family vacation). We did get a good deal $3374.85 for 3 people in a Spa Mini Suite and only had to pay $1 per person deposit. Now that my Alaska cruise is done, I am looking to start paying for this one. I was looking at the UBP pricing: $89/day and this DOES NOT include bottled water or specialty coffees. Then I looked at the Soda package and it is $7.95/day (not bad price) but they have only Pepsi products. There is no way hubby and I can get our monies with at $747.60. They don't have a refreshment package either. I guess our drink package money will go onto excursions. I do like the idea of having a big bathroom with a big walk in shower and 2 sinks. I like the destinations as 3 of the 4 are new to us and we have never sailed out of New Orleans either. I'm sure we will have fun to matter what as we are going with our daughter, son-in-law and 4 grands.

I brought an 8 port USB power supply in our carry on we were okay. Did this on Oasis last July and Radiance this July.

We stayed at the Marriott Pinnacle before our cruise in July. Great hotel and it is close to the port. -
I wouldn't want to end my cruise with that much stress!! It is stressful enough just knowing you have to return to the real world...

We always fly Delta and they open up 330 days (+/-) out and we were able to book ours then with no issues. If they have the aircraft chosen then you should be able to get your flight. Maybe their website is acting likes RCCL website ? -

We told the front desk that we needed a taxi (van type due to our friend was using a knee scooter (heel surgery). That is when they offered to take us. It was the hotel's van I think; however, they just offered for him to take us for $25 cash. The taxi's are a first come first serve type of thing and they couldn't guarantee that we could get a van type taxi when we needed it. There were lots of taxi's at the port that can take you to the hotel. -

We stayed at the Marriott Pinnacle this past July for our Radiance Northbound cruise and it was a wonderful hotel. There was a hotel employee with a shuttle that took us the the port for $25 USD cash for the 4 of us. -
They have straws if you ask for one. I only got them for my frozen drinks.

Are Smaller ships a disappointment?
whitsmom replied to dejagatkins's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
We were on the Oasis in July 2017 and then the Radiance July 2018. We are 60 also and we loved both ships. -
I have a Platinum AmEx that I use. I use it for most everything and just pay it off every month. It is a good way to add up the points faster too. We had enough points for all our flights for our Alaska trip a few weeks ago, except my return flight (had points for hubby though). I also get a notice on my phone immediately when I use it and I really like that feature.

I want to go in 2020; however, I was wanting to check the 2019 prices to get an idea of the pricing so that I can start saving up. The website would not continue after I put in 1 room and 2 people. So I couldn't go past that screen for some reason. I cleared out everything and still nothing.
-
When will the itinerary stuff be available to book? I have tried to "pretend" booking for 2019 just to get an idea of cost; however, once I enter the number of people and hit continue - the continue button does NOT work. I have cleared everything out and it still just does nothing!!

We are doing a NCL (my first with them) next November (family cruise that my son-n-law planned). I was looking at their drink package and was I ever shocked! $89 plus that does NOT included bottled water or specialty coffee and if one adult in cabin gets it then both have to. So definitely I will do the a-la-cart.
