  1. I uploaded the vaccine certificates last week and a couple of days later, it disappeared from the option as well.

I guess I was naive into thinking RCCL just downloaded it into their system since it was completed for all of us.

Now I have no clue why it's not there as an option anymore.

    Edit:

Okay, now it's showing but says we're validating your vaccine cards.

I read that as the local law now says either vaccinated or negative test but this specific tour operator is complying with the local law by requiring all to be vaccinated (and not giving an option for negative test). Hopefully you can find something on board like @Atlantix2000mentions

That's exactly how I read it...that the local laws have changed to require vaccinated or negative test...But the tour operator requires that only vaccinated guests can participate.

  3. We're going to our second cruise on RCCL, so not sure I would be much help, but I thought I would share my experience.

I, too, am concerned that we can't book our entertainment online so it's difficult to decide on dining time.

We chose My Time dining as well and decided on 7pm - we generally have dinner at 7 or 7:30pm so that's why the choice. I remembered there were earlier choices but not sure exactly how much earlier.

But I was given a suggestion of possibly booking an earlier one, just in case a show was a bit early. So when I went back to change it to 6 or 6:30pm, they weren't available. I thought it was just the first night, but it was all the nights.

I'm not sure if the system changed it after I booked or all the times were booked a few days after I first booked it, but the earliest was 7pm which is already what I had.

But if I were in your situation and we at early, I would book the early seating and if I really had to change it for one or two of the nights, I would just ask to see if there's any availability during those nights for a later time.

I hope someone can chime in and provide expert information since I'd like to know as well.

  4. On our vaccination sheet, it shows the QR code and the vaccination information.

When I uploaded that, two days later, they disappeared from my check in option. I hope that means it was fine...not sure why it disappeared. I don't even have the option to change it or anything. I guess there's no reason to change it...I actually just went back to check to see if it was clear...I hope it was.

Before I got the QR code version, I did download the information that just shows name, vaccine type, and dates. If you have any type of receipt when you first go the vaccine, that may be good to bring just in case the QR code isn't enough.

We cruise quite a bit so I make a lot of calls regarding repricing and normally I have not had any issues until a few weeks ago. I had 2 cruises booked thru the Casino (still RC) but when I called about new price the casino agent told me he did not have the same price as I was seeing on the RC website (I do a mock booking with same conditions to confirm the lower price) I kept insisting so he said that he would pass the information to his supervisor and in 24 it would be resolved. I called the next day and the new agent told me that she could see I spoke with the other agent regarding the price drop but no info on pricing or anything...I asked to speak with a supervisor and they told me that they checked and the price today was higher than what I paid so they could do nothing....

I was quite mad as between the 2 bookings the reduction was over $560US. I did not take a screen capture of the price drop because the first agent assured me it would be resolved in 24 hours...big mistake....it wont happen again.

Two weeks ago, I found a good better price and contacted RCCL to get it re-priced. The rep told me that it would be higher price if she did it. I asked her to try anyway and she then told me that I wasn't eligible. I asked her why since I didn't think it was for specific group rates or anything. It was the new promotion. She refused to change it so I asked her to cancel it since my reservations were refundable. She said it would take 2 weeks to post (and sometimes could take 30 days depending on my bank). I asked her for a confirmation and she said they don't provided those.

Now, I'm concerned that my reservation was indeed cancelled, but I won't get my refund.

How long do they usually take with refunding a refundable deposit? Did she tell me incorrectly that it would take 2 weeks?

After I got off the phone, I went ahead online and booked it with no issue at the lower price.

  6. Before covid, despite how much I hate flying, we would fly. We drove twice and it was not that enjoyable.

But after dealing with airlines refusing the refunds and constant changes to reservations, I don't trust them. I think it would be much more stressful to deal with either AC or WJ at this point.

For this Dec trip, we are driving. But taking a flight from Buffalo on JetBlue is an option.

So, it's not so much the safety or regulations to fly, it's the specific airlines I don't trust.

Honestly you could check prices every day and find different pricing and discounts over 50% of the time!  Once I book a cruise that is pretty much what I do…I figure the 5 or so minutes it takes me to check prices is worth what I most likely will end up saving!  Of course once you have hit your best price (which you really never know when that is) then the checking gets a bit tiring.  But…you will never know unless you check!

I guess I just need to get used to checking constantly for pricing. The Resident NRD was such a good discount so I'm trying to figure out what is the requirement to get it. It sounds like it's offered in some promotions and not others. I thought it was more a discount than a promotion.

  8. Thanks everyone!

At first I thought it had something to do with the state or website. So for this Dec cruise I received a discount and I'm Canadian and I put Canada and the province when booking. So I thought, perhaps I should try the Canadian website, and it provides it as well.

So, I thought it must be offered in NY since my cruise is out of Cape Liberty.

But then I tried another cruise in 2022 departing from Cape Liberty and it didn't offer it.

So, perhaps it is just offered whenever Royal wants to offer. I'm new so I couldn't understand why I got the discount for one cruise and not the other.

I'll keep checking for my 2022 cruise, it may come up again.

Thanks again...I couldn't figure it out. I guess Royal just offers it whenever they want.🤷‍♀️

  9. I'm very new to RCCL, so forgive me if this is a silly question.

But ... what is Resident NRD? I assume NRD is non-refundable deposit...but what does the "Resident" part refer to?

I'm inquiring because on one of my cruise I recently booked, it provided a very good discount under Resident NRD. But the second one, I booked yesterday, it doesn't offer that discount.

Any insight would be very much appreciated. Thank you.

  10. My Anthem cruise is after yours and I was able to book MTD plans. It is under the dining options when I logged into My Cruise Planner. Even though it's complimentary, it looks like it's a purchase booking.

This is only the second time we've booked RCCL, so I'm not sure if it's different for different ships.

  11. I noticed this offer on my Cruise Planner for $35. It looks pretty good. It does seem like a lot for lunch, but we figured we'd likely have a very light dinner or late dinner.

We wouldn't have booked it if it was more than that. Looking at the links to the 2019 thread, it was much more expensive and we would not even consider booking it in that case. We don't drink so, we're okay with the $35.

I will soon be boarding a different ship but the day I debark I am flying to Canada to deal with a pressing family issue that can't wait any longer.  Being on the cruise will make it very difficult to coordinate a PCR test for my entry into Canada.

I reached out to a management contact on the ship I know as a frequent cruiser.  They recently responded:

          Good morning,

We will be able to assist you with PCR test on Day 7 - between 6:30am and 7:00am in the conference center deck 3.
          The service is complementary.

Upon boarding the ship head to guest services and talk with them about it.  They may use a different location on Anthem but they are keenly aware of the varying testing requirements around the world.  Keep in mind the crew on board come from all over the world so collectively they have themselves faced a myriad of testing just to get to the US to be on the ship.  This isn't something they have no experience with themselves.

Thanks so much for posting the information.

And I, completely, agree that they should be very much aware of the testing requirements, among other things. I think I'm just nervous about travelling outside Canada at this point, and I'm overly concerned about things that are not specifically stated on the website...

I'm so grateful for the information on these forums...it's not always easy to get direct info from RCCL.

We have sailed from Bayonne over New Year's, weather was chilly leaving NYC, and rainy on the way back.  No issues, and if you are on Anthem like we were,  the ship is well designed and has an abundance of indoor space and activities.  We are sailing on Oasis in a couple of weeks and Anthem again in January, both from Bayonne.  We will drive or take the train, the airlines are a little unpredictable right now.

It's super easy to make dining reservations, just do it as soon as you get on board.  There will be multiple people waiting at the promenade/esplanade area that can take your reservations.   If for some reason you don't get the reservations you wanted, you can always go to Guest Services and have them cancel the package for you.   Several years ago we had a 3 nt dining package and decided after a couple of days we weren't going to use it more than once.  Guest Services cancelled for us so that might be another option for you.

You should be able to make other reservations in the App.   The calendar will show you times and availability once you get on the ship.

    Thank you for the information.

Definitely sounds like my concern in booking onboard is unfounded. I'm glad I have some flexibility with regards to dining reservations. I don't recall paying for dining reservations ahead of time for my other cruises. So it makes me nervous that I may not be able to get a refund, should we not get our preferred booking.

I don't think I would be so worried if we didn't have to pay until we get onboard.

As far as Bayonne...I would love to just drive there from Canada, but until our land border opens, we are stuck with flying and that's a concern for us. We've only taken a connecting flight out of Newark once before and we went directly to the next gate so I don't remember if there were any delays. We will arrive a day or two before just in case.

I’m in NJ and close to the port. I sail on the Anthem out of Bayonne over the winters. It’s the perfect ship for sailing out of New York harbor in cold weather. The Solarium is completely enclosed in glass and climate controlled. So is the large indoor family pool. And the indoor SeaPlex is great! It usually takes about a day and a half to get to a warmer climate where you can lounge on the sundeck and enjoy the outdoor pool.

I don’t want to jinx it but…here in NJ, December snow storms are not the norm. They do happen occasionally but rarely severe, and there is typically advance warning so crews are ready to plow and clear.

As mentioned above, dining packages do not allow pre-reserving…but there is usually availability when you board. They will not allow all of the reservations to be taken before embarkation day. Just go to any restaurant host with your list and they’ll do their best. Have back-up times ready just in case. However, if you do wish to guarantee your preferred restaurant time…just make the individual reservations on the Cruise Planner. It will cost a bit more than the package but you will have peace of mind that the reservation is booked. As to your question, you can cancel your Cruise Planner purchase and get a refund if you wish to cancel the dining package. Also, the courtesy booking that comes with the dining package is just a placeholder and you can change it onboard. **reservations are dependent upon the health safety protocols in effect at the time…in case distancing measures are still in effect.

The main entertainment shows ‘We Will Rock You’  and ‘The Gift’ in the Royal Theater and ‘Spectra’s Cabaret’ in Two70 perform several times during the seven day sailing, usually each show performs once a day on several days. The time of the shows may change…We Will Rock You also does a matinee showing. All of them…in my opinion…are wonderful, not to be missed. Enjoy your cruise!

    Thanks so much!

I feel less nervous - especially about the dining and entertainment bookings. It's great to hear from all the RCCL experts about their experience. It's not as clear reading through the RCCL website.

I'm getting more excited each day!

    I'm definitely taking notes!

The Healthy Sail Center | Healthy & Safe Cruises | Royal Caribbean Cruises   A few days into the cruise you will be able to schedule your PCR test to return to Canada.

Dining reservations- super easy, go to any specialty restaurant when you get onboard, bring your planner/schedule with you.  Spend a few minutes with the staff at any specialty restaurant and they can set up the rest of your reservations for the rest of your cruise.

Thanks for reassurance of PCR test. That's one of my concerns since I'm getting conflicting answers from RCCL on the phone, but I'm not getting any response with email.

Glad to hear dining is easy to book onboard.

For dining packages, you can book the times for dining when you board the ship. By then you will have the entertainment schedule on the app. Entertainment in the past has been scheduled around traditional dining room times of 5:30 and 8:00 PM. Anthem sometimes has matinee shows on sea days as well.

Thanks! I'm glad it doesn't seem to be difficult to book dining onboard. Just not used to waiting to book while onboard.

We have My Time Dining so perhaps I can just plan for dining around one of scheduled dining.
