What is everyone's favorite drink on a cruise? I usually stick with Margueritas but open to suggestions.

DAVE(Darkcabbie) reacted to Matt in BOGO Dining Disadvantages?
The chief disadvantage is you cannot book anything until onboard and have to eat on first 2 nights. On the plus side, you save a lot of money.

When I have paid the surcharge can I order another burger or sandwich etc if i'm still hungry or do I have to pay again and do you have to pay extra for the extras like onions , egg, bacon etc.

DAVE(Darkcabbie) got a reaction from donalk in All access tour and dining package is it worth the money
Thanks for the advice.
I think we are going to put the idea on hold for now and see if it gets discounted towards the end of the cruise. Your right about I-95 we saw it on a documentary about the Oasis and to be able to check that out would be cool.

DAVE(Darkcabbie) got a reaction from lessiets1 in All access tour and dining package is it worth the money
I noticed that you can book a package that gives you a tour of the bridge , galley and engine room plus you get two specialty restaurants included which sounds cool but the price is $170.00 per person.
Considering that Chops & Giovanni's is $50.00 for the pair I am wondering if the the tour of the ship is worth the extra 120 bucks or is it well overpriced at $170.00 for the package.
Has anyone done this package and if so was it worth the money ? .

DAVE(Darkcabbie) got a reaction from markinct in What's your favourite top 5 restaurants on board past and present
Thought it would be good to see what your all time top 5 restaurants are past and present and maybe over time we might see an overall clear favourite.
As we only cruised with RC for the first time last year we can only list our choice from the Independence but that will change over time as we sail on more ships.
1) Chops Grille
2) Giovanni's Table
3) Windjammer
4) MDR
5) Johnny Rockets
BON APPETIT :D :)

DAVE(Darkcabbie) got a reaction from markinct in Typical Day at Sea
A typical sea day for us is to get up around 08:00 and hit the Windjammer for breakfast then we hit the Gym for about 1 and a half hours followed by a good swim in the adult pool and then some chill time in the hot tubs :) .
By now we are pretty hungry again so it's the Windjammer for lunch and then the afternoon is normally spent playing mini golf or flowrider and hitting the Royal Promenade for some shopping or as we men like to call it Torture .
We don't do the MDR much so for us it's Chops Grille or Giovannis maybe Johnny Rockets or Windjammer and then we spend most evenings watching a show or drinking in the Viking Lounge and always hit the Casino. We finally go to bed around Midnight to 01:00.

DAVE(Darkcabbie) got a reaction from RSMGreg in Drinking package
Beer selection is good both bottle and draught and is roughly $5-$7 depending on what you have, see below
Cocktails are about $8-$12 and spirits are about $6 upwards.
Hope this helps :)

DAVE(Darkcabbie) reacted to donalk in Windjammer Cafe, what do you most enjoy about it and your favorite item or time to go there
I think Windjammer is very underrated as a dinner option. If you go in at 8.30 - 9pm, there's no problem getting a table, the food selection is excellent. Best of all, you can have a great dinner, head out for a 15 minute walk, then come back for a great dessert!

DAVE(Darkcabbie) got a reaction from Don in Cruising from SouthHampton Uk
I agree with Ian and Michelle that Heathrow is the best option if you are picking up a ship in Southampton as it's the closest and you can explore some of London City if you have some extra days spare. This is always my recommendation to my clients that book me to drive them to the port.
If you are considering coming this side of the big pond please feel free to ask me for info on Hotels , sights or anything you have questions about as I'm more than happy to help :) :)

Southhampton Airport (SOU) - 5 miles from Port
Bournemouth Airport (BOU) - 3o miles
London - Heathrow (LHR) - 67 miles
London - Gatwick (LGW) - 90 miles
Most people will fly into London, then stay either there or closer to the Port
Some of the hotels nearby are only about $100-$150 US per night

Hi
It is best to travel into London.
The UK has a brilliant rail service, so onwards from London to Southampton by rail is quick and easy.
Southampton railway station is very close to the port.

DAVE(Darkcabbie) got a reaction from Galveston Steve in TIME
We pretty much do the same as most people by watching you tube videos , planning our trips ashore and of course talking to people on the blog. Another thing I like to do is follow the ship we are next sailing on day to day and even get live emails telling me each time she arrives or leaves port ( sad i know but i LOVE IT ) by going to https://www.marinetraffic.com/.
I am also reminded that our Cruise is getting closer as each time I take my clients to Southampton to board their ships the Independence is nearly always there TALK ABOUT TEASING ME
