The only reason I can give for buying it ahead of time is that you can begin boozing IMMEDIATELY!!!! ;) :D B) The line we saw on Freedom was ridiculous! The Queen was particularly happy to not have to wait on it. Also, like Matty always says, it's nice to have things paid off over time. Of course, since I'm not a shopper, not a gambler, and I prepay for my excursions, I have no idea how I'll use my OBC.

No. At least they didn't in November. You could always get your cup filled by bartender but it's just not the same IMO. The free style machines have good selections and less of a wait. On the Indy I spent a decent amount of time in line just for water.

As a final conclusion to this thread, I did want to say that we loved the Freedom class and really enjoyed our cruise aboard the Liberty. My fears about the onboard experience being disrupted by the looming refurb were unfounded. The only real impact was the cabin move, which for most people would have been a welcomed $1,000 upgrade. I left the ship happy having our dinner at Chops comped for our troubles, plus Royal did extend some onboard credit for the move. Thus, my TA and the Loyalty Ambassador helped to mitigate a situation that could have easily left a bad taste in my mouth.

Maybe you can pull some strings during your sailing on behalf of RCL Lover? ;)

Well, I finally booked all the entertainment venues.
 
I have not booked any excursions, but I am interested in doing something in Jamaica or Cozumel; not sure what yet.
 
We decided to fly into Ft. Lauderdale two days early too, since it's a Sunday departure. So I plan on enjoying a few relaxing days before the party starts!

I'm telling you, brother. I keep trying to get my wife to try someone else. She's more loyal to Royal than I am. I believe that sometimes you can't know what you've got until you're experience the alternatives. Which is also why I want her to let me have many side girlfriends, but that's not working either. ;) :lol:

Fortunately, I did get a good fare for booking early and Royal did extend some onboard credit for the room snafu. However, this is the first Royal cruise where my wife and I started comparing Royal to its competitors and considering alternatives, which is sad.
 
Overall, it was a good cruise and most importantly my son didn't want to leave, which means he had a good time.

Hey Michel....we don't get to our hotel till about 10pm on Sat night....staying at the Ramada Fort Lauderdale....if you're anywhere around there we could try and meet up for a beer...my gf is from Edmundston and speaks French so we would have no problems chatting...haha
 
Yeah Jerel...it was an amazing deal..anything under $600 CAD is good sad to say....I have come across a deal once or twice for just under $500 our of Halifax....but this was amazing....I was on the fence about cancelling my cruise if the flights weren't going to come down from almost $1000 originally.

Well it's official, I canceled my Nov 2016 cruise and my Feb 2017 cruise, all to go on the 2017 group cruise!

I couldn't believe the deal I  found for airfare out of Halifax for my cruise out of San Juan...it was about $330 return USD......amazing.....that's crazy to think about $165 each way in USD.....never seen that in 15 years of travels!!
 
Glad I waited to book as previously flights were over $600 USD return and higher out of Moncton.

GROUNDHOG Day! Early February is a great time to escape Ohio, and if I were lucky I would have a bill murry-esque experience and get stuck repeating the day endlessly!
 
We have done New years and honestly, I would not choose to do it again. High prices & endless Christmas music. We are doing Halloween this year... I let you know.

Sorry to hear about all this hassle DocLC. Hopefully you can leave all the aggravation (and this cold dreary weather) behind when you see that big beautiful ship tomorrow. Have a great voyage and enjoy the warm Caribbean weather this week!

Halloween!! I was on Enchantment for Halloween this year and it seemed like everyone on the ship remembered to pack their costume. There was a huge party in the centrum, which turned in to a poolside sail away party from Nassau at midnight. I would definitely recommend it! 

New Years as the captain is the designated driver and it's a very festive atmosphere. I don't see Christmas as equivalent to one at home where you're spending time with family and friends.

I'm looking forward to seeing other currencies too, also more options in state rooms, like inside balcony or virtual balconies.
