  1. I hope everyone onboard is hanging tight with the is crazy storm! Let us know how the conditions are…
  2. Wow seems everyone here is partial to the opposite of what I am doing! I’ve never done a transatlantic cruise but recently booked the April 27-May 11, 2025 on Odyssey. Leaving from Bayonne (so driving and working with our TA to figure out best parking choice) and ending in Rome. We will stay in Italy an extra 5 days once off the ship, touring Rome and Venice, and fly back to Newark from Venice. I do hope we made the right decision on which way to sail…East to West. Like @Dad2Cue we booked our balcony rooms on starboard side for the sunshine! In the meantime, I look forward to any transatlantic live blogs!
  3. sleep tight! Thanks for bringing us along …it’s the next best thing to actually being there and keeps us excited about our next cruise!
  4. So glad you made it to Miami! Good luck with your flight! As long as you reasonably take off on time or a bit delayed you should make it up to the East Coast before we actually get this storm! I’m in RI and our forecast is very late tonight and mostly all day tomorrow with the strong winds and torrential rains! My poor husband has to…again…take down our fragile lawn decorations and keeps telling me this is the last time!
  5. That’s the one I used to get the proper pronunciation!
  6. How rough are the waters today? Cruisemapper is showing some pretty rough seas all over the Caribbean and Bahama areas! Also Gulf of Mexico! Are you feeling the effects?
  7. Hi…my name is Peggi and I am a Thalassophile. Oooo that sounds important!!
  8. We cruised with our kids and grandkids in the summer and I booked my husband in a room with our 3 granddaughters. He joined me once on the ship and my daughter and her husband were in the room next to the girls. Never had an issue except when we were getting off the ship in Nassau. One of my granddaughters was with me and we were ahead of everyone else. When they scanned her sea pass she was not permitted to leave until we could verify her parents were with us. They actually asked her if she knew me! LOL.
  9. Hope you have a blast. I am on the Sept 9th 4 nighter also have balcony as do our cruise friends…with rooms next door so we can open the balconies. I bought the refreshment package for myself and husband. Also got the internet. Looking forward to when the entertainment can be reserved as well as dining options.
  10. OMG! That is one blog everyone one of us will be strapped in our seats to read and envision all the “mishaps” along the way! I already marked my calendar so you need to figure out how to blog about it here on the Royal Blogs!
  11. Agree with others…lower and midship and only midship if it’s more towards aft…not forward! Forward feels the most amount of motion, so keep away! I recommend the scopolamine patch. My husband has horrible motion sickness and he has never had an issue onboard while wearing it. Enjoy your cruise…glad you are sailing on Oasis as this size ship also helps deter motion!
  12. Excited to cruise along with you and J this week! Hope everything is perfect from arrival to port…to boarding…and etc,
  13. I’m with @steverk…highly recommend retirement and cruising! I retired in 2019 so I could spend my time caring for my Mom (with dementia) and also helping out with my 5 grandkids. Oh…and planning cruise vacations somewhere in between! It’s been a crazy 4 years…much more busy than it was while working! But now it’s slowing down…very sadly my Mom passed away in late September and my 5 grandkids are all almost old enough to not need me ! Which means now I have time for myself and my husband! We have many vacations planned for the next 2 years…both land and sea! Love Retirement……..
  14. @Lisa in Sweden if you are booked on an Oasis class ship also available as complimentary eats is Park Cafe in Central Park. Very good breakfast and lunch selections (their salad choices are really great). Also the Solarium Bistro has breakfast and lunch as well as a dinner option which you can make reservations for. Both places have all the complimentary drinks as well.
  15. Haven’t sailed on Quantum class yet so am really looking forward to the Transatlantic on Odyssey booked for April/May 2025. I’ve been looking at video reviews already and will continue to educate myself for the next 508 days .
  16. ^^^SAME^^^ (well not the Canada part but the rest!)
  17. @asquared17. Your time leaving the hotel looks a little early I think. Unless you are like a half hour from the port! I think leaving around 9:15-9:30 is more suitable. If Oasis is at the regular Royal terminal you should be good. Most of the other ships will be at the other terminals so hopefully the traffic for you won’t be so bad. We took Lyft when we cruised on Indy in November…and Indy just happened to be at the terminal typically used for another cruise line! There was so much traffic between all the ships disembarking and embarking and our driver had a tough time getting over to the right to drop us off. looking forward to your blog
  18. Just priced out an OV balcony for 2 at $5400. total and this is NOT the inaugural sail. Hoping my TA has better pricing. Looking at early September 2025…
  19. I believe you'll need to do the safety drills over again…sorry to say. I think only on boarding day does the “completed” show up after each section is watched. And that’s what registers and shows up when you get to the muster station and give them your room number. I have also done this early on and that’s why I know. Oh well…you’ll be doubly in tune with it for this cruise!
  20. Depends on what ship you are on. I believe Oasis and above get to reserve entertainment. It’s 45 days (maybe 30) out to book…usually. Smaller classes typically have no need to reserve. You just show up a bit early for the show and walk in.
  21. Her’s a fun fact about this cruise date…we will be first cruise leaving from Bayonne! Meaning…perhaps…we will have our rooms available when we board?? 166 days to go.
