No, the alcohol package does not require a refreshment package for a minor. We've bought our alcohol packages on one sale and waited for the next sale to buy the kids drink packages. However, if one person gets the alcohol package, all adults in the cabin must purchase it. If you call you may be able to get an exemption to that, but they make the second adult buy the refreshment package instead.

You are correct.  I got my cruise lines crossed.   It was NCL that forced the 2nd person to the same package, so minors had to get the soda package.   We split up between cabins so only 1 adult has to buy the beverage package.  Thanks for the catch.

Same here.  We were both going to get it anyway but I never even thought about deselecting one of us.  Interesting.

So I just purchased and I have a minor in my cabin.  I was able to just select myself.   I believe in the past if you had a child in the room it would force the child to get a refreshment or soda package, but not this time.

I am not sure why your DBP would show that high of price on Liberty. Our November cruise currently shows $51 and we have another for July that shows $55.image.thumb.png.e71f985a514cb72f65d4498cd04fcd6a.png

It just depends on the sailing.  I just checked my Nov sailing on the Harmony and it $65 for the Beverage Package.   And everything on this page is higher for me.   My UDP is at $179.00.

It's a great way to handle the situation.  Works perfectly.

It's a great way to put 2 drinkers in the same room but also if only 1 spouse drinks and you are traveling with kids.   They do make you purchase the soda package for the child included in the room with the Beverage Package.  I also heard you can do this by calling now and explaining, but I haven't tried it.

I am new to Royal Caribbean and have a 7 day western Caribbean cruise Sept 21.  They just added the pricing for the drink packages in my planner for purchase, $71 a day.  What is a good per day price for this package.

About a year ago, you could find the price in the $40s if you were lucky.   For my Mar sailing on the Oasis, pre-coronavirus, the best price I found was $55 and that's even including Black Friday prices.   $71 a day is high, but maybe that is the new norm, post-coronavirus, only time will tell.

  6. I have been on that 8 day Southern Caribbean sailing on the Vista and it was one of our favorite cruises with 1 downside and one of the main reasons we choose Royal now.  It was the most crowded we have ever felt on a ship.  Just look at the numbers across their fleet.   The Vista is a great ship but it is smaller than a Freedom Class ship but they pack more people on it.  The ratios are bad across most of their ships.

I wouldn't think Thanksgiving and Christmas cuts that too close but Thanksgiving and Spring Break is probably doable if you don't mind fronting the final payment until the reissued FCC comes in.

The Thanksgiving cruise returns Nov 29th.   I doubt I would have the additional FCC by Dec 26th and I wouldn't want to risk it.   Depending on when final payment is due for Spring, that might work.   Usually our Spring Break final payments are due beginning of Jan so that might be doable.

Your FCC cannot be used for port charges or taxes and fees.  But it can be applied to that amount and yes anything you have already paid on the reservation would be refunded back to the card you used to pay toward your cruise.

Thanks, this is what I hoped.  So, I should be expecting about 1/2 of the deposit back after the fees are covered.

You can only apply the FCC to one cruise at a time.  So plan accordingly on this.  You will get the remaining FCC AFTER you cruise on the first cruise you apply it to.  So keep this in mind when applying the FCC to a cruise.

Thank You.   This is very interesting.  I was thinking about 2 cruises close together (Thanksgiving and Christmas).   This can't be done with the FCC.   Thanksgiving and Spring Break might be doable but it will be close.   I guess you need that new FCC before final payment is due on the 2nd  cruise.

I have booked a dozen cruises on my own but I think it's time for a Travel Agent.   There are too many loop holes with this credit.  I wish I could have gotten the refund but I Literally canceled 8 hours before the refund policy was offered.

  10. Thank you for the response.

I understand that any FCC over the cost will be reissued in FCC.  I'm trying to find out if I can get my deposit refunded back to my credit card since my FCC is enough to cover it all.  Since, I have enough FCC to cover 2 cruises, I'm trying not to add any additional money at this time.

  11. Hello all,

I have read many posts on this topic but I haven't seen my specific question, so I thought I would ask.  Forgive me if it has been covered.

My cruise was canceled in Mar on the Oasis.   I found another cruise in Nov on the Harmony and booked with a $500 deposit.   My FCC came in about a week ago.  The FCC is more than enough to cover the entire cruise (2 actually).  If I apply the FCC to the cruise, say the cruise fare is $2000 total, will I be able to get the $500 deposit refunded?  Or apply the deposit to the taxes and fees (about $250) and get the remaining cash back?  If I keep adding additional money for deposits, it will take me 3 cruises to use up all of the FCC.

I'm trying to figure out if it is easier to keep my Nov booking or cancel and re-book it with the FCC?

    Thanks
