Sabor for Lunch on Harmony of the Seas
JimnKathy replied to Jerry228's topic in Royal Caribbean Dining
We have a Minnesotan daughter-in-law who was brought up to add sugar to just about every recipe...it's taken me years to get her to finally enjoy a hint of jalapeño in my homemade guacamole. LOL -
Perfect Day Mexico opening in 2027
JimnKathy replied to Matt's topic in Royal Caribbean News and Rumors
Those of us who drive to Galveston are SO looking forward to Perfect Day Mexico! The only way to visit Coco Cay from Galveston right now is to do 8-night sailings on Harmony (we're taking our grandkids to Perfect Day this September). -
Looks like corkage fees may be enforced

That fee is WAY over the top. Fine dining restaurants in our neck of the woods charge $10 corkage fees if we bring our own bottle. -

8-night sailings from Galveston go to Coco Cay now. We're sailing Harmony in September so our grandkids can experience Perfect Day for their first time. -

I always give my waiter a $10 handshake when giving them a bottle of wine to open for the Mrs. and me...seems to do the trick. -
Coffee Card - Price Drop Today!!
JimnKathy replied to JimnKathy's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
$23.99?! That's awesome! -
While looking our cruise planner on our Harmony sailing out of Galveston the week of 9/13/25, I noticed the Coffee Card price has dropped from $31 to $27.99. Kathy and I are big coffee drinkers in the morning and thought we'd share this info...never seen it drop below the $31 level before. Happy Sailing!

Kathy and I attempt to immediately hop on the Rising Tide Bar on embarkation day for our 1st cocktail of the week...let the good times roll, baby! Also, if we have to update any Specialty Dining reservations, it takes us directly to Central Park...so there's that, too.

Please don't participate in the art auctions!
JimnKathy replied to RCIfan1912's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
While we have zero interest in participating in these so-called "art" auctions, we do believe that adult passengers should have the freedom to spend their own money as they see fit. One person's "treasure" is another person's "trash. One comment I'll make is that the 3rd party companies that conduct these auctions must pay RCL a sizeable chunk of change to rent the space on their ships. No doubt RCL's finance team is happy to collect the $$ in lieu of using the space for another lounge, restaurant, etc. -
We use VacationsToGo with great success. They're paid by RCL, give us extra OBC and have access to group rates.
-
The bigger the ship, the smoother the ride. It's also obviously weather dependent.
-
We have the newer unlimited plan so Canada's a go for us.
-
...and Canada, too.

Another vote for the food coma warning...it's a real thing! We're still "recovering" from a 14-night "UDP Binge" we experienced on a Symphony B2B sailing several years ago! LOL
-
I'd love to see RCL alternate the short cruises on the Oasis class ships with week long cruises to keep everyone happy. Seems like the CFO is in charge of marketing when it comes to this decision.
-
Sounds like a secondary effect of being on a 3-4 night "Party" cruise. LOL
-
Central Park balconies are awesome...get 10th or 11th floor rooms for the best views. If you're asking about interior CP cabins, please disregard my comment.

This has nothing to due with cruising, as the news story you're discussing pertains only to Chinese cargo ships. The mods need to delete this thread.

Right after the pandemic on a Symphony B2B sailing, I had the opportunity to have a friendly conversation with the F & B Director for the Specialty restaurants and learned that the Bionic Bar is a pain in the backside for the ships. He mentioned the robotics often have mechanical issues which cause it to malfunction and there are times when the issues can't be fixed until they get back to their debarkation port. It only makes sense to have a fun venue with human bartenders rather than a malfunctioning machine which takes up valuable space on a cruise ship.

Reprice UDP after making reservations?
JimnKathy replied to RoyalGreg's topic in Royal Caribbean Dining
You'll find you'll have some flexibility to adjust your UDP reservations once you board the ship to adjust for showtimes...at least that's been our experience. -
...especially on any Oasis class ship!
-
We're sailing on Harmony this Sep out of Galveston...have two separate reservations totalling 6 people. I've already emailed the Royal Dining team with our request to reserve a 6-top each night in the MDR even though we've booked separately in the cruise planner app. I'll be heading straight to the MDR desk on embarkation day to confirm our requests.

Woo hoo now the back to back is real!
JimnKathy replied to RCIfan1912's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
We sailed a B2B on Symphony in Sep 2021 and had a blast...happy sailing! -
It's amazing how far some of the island countries are from the U.S. shores. We cruisers like to think everything is as close as the Bahamas/Perfect Day! LOL
-
On Oasis class ships, I'm infamous for topping off my morning run/walk on the Deck 5 track with a "visit" to the public bathroom just inside the entrance door for my morning "go". LOL What a great thread!
