  1. Sweet, so what is need (cables/connectors) to connect phone to ship TV?
  2. I'm going on HOS in a JR Suite. Besides the suite amenities, I was told you get: Additional C&A points (not sure if double) Suite priority boarding Coastal Kitchen access for Dinner Free Wow bands Might be a few other things, but not significant. Really JR Suite is just a bigger room.
  3. Had/have a similar problem. Its such a bummer that RC fails to address the 18-20 year old activities. They really just need a place/event to get introduced to one another (overcome the shyness). Our kids will do as mentioned above and have roaming privileges. Many of the Teen club kids hang out on the Boardwalk and Promenade (free food areas), so they will have plenty of company.
  4. Discounts can get better but the changes are sporadic. As @marti314 mentioned Black Friday will probably see the steepest discounts. I'm taking HOS end of this year and the best discount I've seen so far for the Deluxe is buy 1 get 2nd 50% off (aka 25% off). The price has held for the past 30-45 days ($56). The thing to keep in mind is the discount % is based on the onboard price which in not listed. For my trip I've figured it is around 74.75 (not including gratuity) The price listed in the planner is person per day and does NOT include the 18% gratuity. Once you add the package to your shopping cart you can see the gratuity amount. Keep in mind once you purchase the package you will be charged immediately. To take advantage of cheaper discounts once you've purchased, you will need to cancel your existing package purchase and then purchase the new discount package. (maybe one day RC will make this easier, but I think they like to float the money to get interest and claim revenue) Also, be aware that RC does offer some drinks that exceed the Drink Package price limits. For example, see the 2019 drink prices for some of the wines that go over the $13 cap. No worries, in these cases you will just get charged the overage amount (drink + gratuity) to your Sea Pass account. Here are some helpful links: Drink Package Calculator: https://connect.calcapp.net/?app=9tts3#/ 2019 Drink Prices: https://www.royalcaribbeanblog.com/boards/index.php?/topic/11704-drink-menu-2019/
  5. Typically RC decorates for Christmas the day after Thanksgiving. Checkout the past Cruise Compasses to give you an idea of the potential activities. Here's a link to one from last year early Dec. https://www.royalcaribbeanblog.com/cruise-compasses/harmony-of-the-seas/sun-2018-12-02-0000
  6. Here is a handy Drink Calculator created by one of our message board members. https://connect.calcapp.net/?app=9tts3#/ Keep in mind this is an estimation tool, so best to be conservative. I found that I was on the board line, but decided to go with the repurchase due to convenience and not having to worry about whether I can have a drink or not. The decision of whether its worth it is more or less like buy car/homeowner insurance, so do the calculator/math to best guide you. For comparison sake both the the drink package pricing on the Cruise Planner and this calculator do not include the gratuity. If you buy the drink package a separate line item for gratuity will be included in your shopping cart. This should not be an issue as you will get charged the 18% per drink if you buy your drinks without a package.
  7. They will also come with your "Guest Ticket Booklet" (pdf) which should be emailed to you ~45 days before your cruise. I also suggest buying a luggage tag holder such as https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07C672M2C/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 (~$10 on Amazon). They are a little bit bigger then the paper template, but will protect just fine.
  8. Sorry to be blunt, why on earth would you get into a public pool with an unhealed wound. Its not all about him what about everyone else who will be using the pools?
  9. But . . . . . does anyone know if the barcodes on the Set Sail and Sea Pass are the same?
  10. I use a family passport wallet (bonus its RFID blocking) to keep all of my family passports. You can find all sorts of choices on Amazon (https://smile.amazon.com/Travel-Passport-Blocking-Document-Organizer/dp/B079HMNF64/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=Travel+Wallet+%26+Family+Passport+Holder+w%2FRFID+Blocking-+Document+Organizer+Case&qid=1572976982&sr=8-1). Once onboard it goes in the safe. I also have digital copies accessible via cloud account incase we loose anything.
  11. Regarding using your set sail pass as your lock screen . . . . is the bar code on the set sail pass different from the bar code on your sea pass? Would hate to have my lost phone paying for everyone's drinks ?
  12. Great tip. Alternatively, simply take a picture of your stateroom # on your door.
  13. Make sure you disable the cellular service/data on your phone (i.e. airplane mode) or you could inadvertently get hit with huge roaming fees. The RC app does have a text/chat feature that you can use with free wifi. Check out the other discussion threads for "communicating while on board". for more insight.
  14. I find the side-to-side roll motion drives more feeling of sea sickness. Deck 14 is the top cabin level (aside form the few on deck 16) so you will feel the roll motion more then say deck 8.
  15. Short answer is yes, purchasing a drink package from the Cruise Planner will add both a line item for the total per day drink package and another for the total 18% gratuity. Once purchased you just order your drinks and enjoy as everything is taken care of. The only exception is for drinks that exceed the $12 or $13 max (varies ship to ship) where the overage amount will be charged to your sea pass account. Here's a handy drink calculator app to help you decide if you will consume enough to benefit from the package https://connect.calcapp.net/?app=9tts3#/ (it does not include gratuity, so you should add that on your own, we asked the app owner to consider adding ;-) )
  16. This happens to me all the time on safari. I've tried logging off and waiting, but no luck. I have not tried using a different browser yet. I typically call the Crown & Anchor Society 800-526-9723 and they unlock it for me. Surprisingly getting in touch with them is super fast.
  17. Not sure you can "go over" a cash account. There is no way for RC to collect.
  18. @Matt I believe @johnjr is referring to the RC app that does have a chat feature and used a free wifi network onboard the ship. This RC app also allows you to make dinning and show reservations as well as see the daily compass online. If you view the application notes in the digi store (iTunes) it lists the ships the app is supposed to be available; however it does state features vary from ship to ship. On iTunes it lists 18 ships where the app is available. I guess to confirm the chat feature we need past voyagers to chime in to confirm. On a separate thread on person wrote that to see text/chat you have to open the app, so no real notification like typical text/chat apps. I'm cruising over the Xmas holidays so I'll post my experience with the app.
  19. I did read that the Arcade sets a limit of $50 (https://www.royalcaribbean.com/faq/questions/can-limits-be-placed-on-arcade-spending)but can of course be increased if requested buy the credit card holder. My suggestion if overspend is a concern of yours is to either use a cash account for the kids sea pass or use a different credit card for the kids sea pass and call the card bank ahead of time to put a limit on the RC spend. Both a fairly easy to do.
  20. I'll be cruising on Harmony of the Seas in the next month and wanted to get some recent feedback on the chat feature of the RC Anchor app? Anyone used/try to use this feature in the past few months? Would love to hear your experience.
  21. Darn, wish I had seen this before. I ended up making my own spreadsheet, so here's a few suggestions. Since the Deluxe Drink Package may require you to buy multiple, you might add another row or 2 to include multiple adults in same cabin. My wife's drinking habits differ from mine such as I drink more premium coffee and she drinks more wine, so the extra columns allows me to see our realistic consumption. The second suggestion is to add the Gratuity amount. Maybe a field one can enter. I know the current is 18%, but that may change over time.
  22. Question: I spoke to the RC reps and they said that once onboard I can get spending limits assigned to my kids sea passes. Does anyone know if they can do this on a per day allowance or is it a set limit for the entire trip (i.e. $25/day or $175 for 7 day trip)?
