  1. I've had too many great suitcases ruined by baggage handlers - not blaming but it's a reality - that I no longer spend a fortune on suitcases.

I now go to TJ Maxx or Marshall's and buy a case of the right size  and know that it will be with me for a while but not forever.

And I made a pledge to never again but a black bag.  Get something bright or a funny print and you'll spot it right away on the luggage carousel.

You can take your Yeti cups but the drinks are made in plastic cups then you have to pour them into your yeti cup.  also when you go to the water station and you want to fill you Yeti you have to use the re-usable plastic cups to get your ice and water.  They do not allow you to put your cup under the spout.  This is to prevent germs and bacteria from spreading.  Having your cups are great because your drinks stay cold and do not get watered down like they do in the plastic cups.

Also if you are using the Freestyle machines you need your drink cup with the RFID chip to get your drink anyways.

Thanks, KenCP  I was afraid of this but really appreciate your reply.

Does Liberty of the Seas have the Freestyle soda machine?  (fingers crossed...)

  3. I'm sailing on Liberty of the Seas March 22 and am planning on bringing a couple of Yeti-sytle insulated cups for my husband and I to use.

Is there a limit on the size that most bartenders will allow?  I have 20 ounce and the 30 ounce.  I was planning on the 20 ounce for coffee and the 30 ounce for drinks from the bartenders.   (we purchased the unlimited drink package)

Also - will the bartenders make the drink directly in the cup?

Thanks in advance for any answers. ??

I think I’ve read that the red velvet cake is something definitely not to be missed on the Liberty! Not sure if it’s the same cake on other ships but pretty sure it was a Liberty blog.

Thanks for the tip.  Red Velvet is one of my favorites.  Do you recall if it was a dessert offered in the Main Dining Room?

  5. I watched a YouTube video that was full of recommendations of what to pack/bring on your cruise.  One thing recommended was a Portable Travel Router.  I am under the impression that it will allow you to use the WiFi for multiple devices from one subscription.  Anyone familiar with this?  The device is only $25 on Amazon.  We have purchased one Voom subscription with our drink package.

    Any advice would be appreciated.

When you get on the ship, go visit one of those two dining venues and let them know you'd like to make a reservation and when.  Then let them know you have a complementary dining through Costco.  They will look up your cruise reservation number up in the computer, check their list for Costco, and apply it to your dining reservation.  We had one last month on Oasis from a different agency.  It was super easy.

Kathy - Thank you so much for your reply.  Sounds like it is super easy!

We have booked most of our cruises in the past several years through Costco and been happy with perks and returning home to a nice gift card.

I recently learned that we can not make reservations ahead of time for our signature dining.  Have you experienced any issues with booking those reservation once you board the ship?  I was told they hold some times for others that must reserve on the ship.

  8. We've book our cruise with Costco and it includes a free signature dinner at either Chops Grille or Giovanni's Table.  We'll be sailing on the Liberty of the Seas.

When I went to book a reservation, the dinner cost went into my cart.  Anyone familiar how I redeem this free dinner?

Also, which night is the lobster dinner in the MDR?  I'd like to not book my dinner on that night.  Thanks!

  9. Ten years ago, I took my first cruise and found a different message board similar to this and looked for as many tips as I could find.   One tip that I took away was to take a small box of Cheerios from the breakfast buffet to take with us when we went snorkeling in Cozumel.

I got all situated with my fins, snorkel, mask, life vest and Cheerios and headed out into the water.   I really have very little experience with snorkeling but was enjoying all of the fish that I was seeing.  I decided it was time to feed the fish.  Hmmm, how am I going to open this bag of cereal?  I'm floating in the water and have nothing sharp and only wet fingers.  I worked and worked and finally ripped the bag open, only to have the cereal all go flying in the water around me.  Instantly it was a feeding frenzy and there were fish all around me, touching me and gobbling up the cereal.  I freaked out - and quickly got away from all of the fish that were surrounding me.

Needless to say, my friend's container of Cheerios went back on board with us.  Unopened.  ?
