  1. The first time we cruised to Florence and Rome we did the ships excursion called ‘Rome on your own’ and the same to Florence. Basically you are taken into the city and then you wander on your own and meet back at a prearranged time. This is cheaper than a guided tour and you have the security of knowing the ship will wait for any delays. Since then we have caught the train independently and just allowed plenty of time to return. On one cruise the ‘Rome on your own’ passengers were on our train so we knew we were safe. Same with the ferry to Capri. If you catch the same ferry as the tour group, make sure you take the next to last one back as the tours usually catch the last ferry.
  2. Sorry to be a nuisance but is there a bus from the cruise terminal to either Hakata or Yoshizuka station? I’m worried the taxis will all be taken.
  3. When we were there at New year we were dropped off right in town.
  4. Is there another way to get from Fukuoka Chuo wharf to Hakata station apart from a Taxi? Is there a bus or subway? A bit concerned that with 4,000 passengers the taxis may be in short supply.
  5. It’s for a taxi for 6 people booked in advance. Works out about $130 per couple at today’s exchange. Just wondering if we go by train is Yoshikzuka station or Hakata which is nearest to the cruise terminal? I have seen both mentioned.
  6. i’ve Had a quote for a taxi tour of three hours. Take us there and wait for us and return to port. 41,500 yen
  7. Thank you. Is it a train or subway ticket we would need?
  8. Hi. There is a group of us that would like to visit the reclining Buddha in Nanzoin. Looking for the easiest and quickest way to get there from Fukuoka cruise terminal. We are there from 13 hours to 20.45. In Taipei we will be at Keelung port from 10 to 19 hours. We’ve been told it takes over an hour for everyone to disembark as the ship is so big. Not looking to eat a lot as there is plenty of food onboard. Just want to sight see on our own or small group, not 50 seater buses. Thanks for any suggestions.
  9. Anyone else on this cruise? Needing suggestions for Fukuoka and Taipei please.
  10. We were on a Hawaii cruise last Christmas. Having previously visited a Pearl Harbour we climbed Diamond Head this time. Not too strenuous for a couple of 66 year olds.
  11. Buy a day pass for the vaporetto and use them like a hop on hop off bus. Go out to Murano and Burano if you have time. Eat pizza and gelato. Visit St Marks but don’t eat or drink in the square. Walk a few streets back. There is a department store near Rialto bridge which has a roof terrace you can visit for free. Views over Venice are outstanding, prices in the shop extortionate. Make sure you are on deck for the sail away. If you are lucky one of the staff will be on the bridge pointing out the names of the different churches and famous buildings that you are passing. It’s the best sail-in or out you will ever experience. We are lucky enough to have done it several times and I get choked up with emotion every time. I just love the place and I hope you will to.
  12. We did a day at Sandals in St Lucia but it was five years ago. My friend had always wanted to visit Sandals but the holidays from the UK are very expensive. We decided she could have a taster day and go back for more if she really liked it. We had a very nice day and she loved her surprise birthday treat.
