  1. Since Matt was reaching out to RC for confirmation, I decided to go the other route and have emailed Mayor James Davis. As he is the one quoted in the article, I have asked him to confirm the validity of its content and/or to furnish the name and contact information for a second primary source who can do the same. What will come of it, who knows? Will post if I hear back.
  2. Sure by next week most all cruises through August will be paid in full.
  3. I am caling it a game of "hot potato." No one wants to be stuck making the decision.
  4. Some quick math: Depending on the vaccine administered, that would make these crewmembers available at the earliest June 19 for J&J, July 17th for Pfizer or July 24th for Moderna.
  5. Based on what has been published to date by RCG, if THEY cancel the sailing and it has not been previously Lifted/Shifted the following options are available: Lift and shift (even if it has been lifted and shifted previously due to a cancellation) A refund A 125 FCC However, be forewarned; if you opt to L&S, your deposit becomes a NRD (non-refundable)
  6. Likely that is also the reason that any news about specific ships and ports that will sail under the 98/95/5 protocol will not be forthcoming until the last possible moment to forestall the avalanche of phone calls requesting FCCs, refunds, or L&S.
  7. Royal Caribbean suspends all Indian crew assignments until further notice | Crew Center (crew-center.com)
  8. Though my post did not indicate one way or the other I am most definitely in favor of a return to cruising.
  9. I was. You need to re-read it. "Why are you "insulted" that the cruise industry wants to resume cruising?" Where did that come from? There is absolutely nothing in my writing that states or implles that.
  10. I disagree with your statement. There are some people who read headlines and make assumptions not based on fact, not everyone. Too often, comments are made that as they are written place a label on the entire group. I
  11. I will assume you are speaking in generalizations here as the thrust of my post had nothing to do with the right of personal choice.
  12. At this point, It is an imaginary cake.
  13. I disagree. Your statement is an oversimplification of a complex situation. Given that, there are those who remember all and use it in formulating their beliefs. Both Fain and Del Rio (or their PR people) are aware of the clarification of President Biden's comment, and if they are not, they should be. To use it as the basis of encouragement to both their current and future customers is unethical. There is nothing "rightly" about it.
  14. This is probably going to upset a few people, but I tend to speak my mind, especially when I feel insulted. I read Mr. Fain's recent comments published on the Home Page of RCB and I find it disturbing that he refers refers to President Biden's July 4th date as a "major reopening milestone, especially since President Biden clarified his remarks: If we do all this, if we do our part, we do this together, by July the 4th, there's a good chance you, your families and friends will be able to get together in your backyard or in your neighborhood and have a cookout and a barbecue and celebrate Independence Day. That doesn't mean large events with lots of people together, but it does mean small groups will be able to get together. After this long, hard year that will make this Independence Day something truly special where we not only mark our independence as a nation, but we began to mark our independence from this virus. The CDC also made it clear this past week that the President's mention of the July 4th date for "backyard gatherings of small vaccinated individuals in no way compares to a cruise ship." ---apples and oranges. What disturbs me most is that, apparently, there are those who think that the general public is not informed, does not read, and can be lulled into the I-want-it-so-bad mentality that they will believe anything.
  15. Yes, it is Matt. When the question was asked on the NCL FB webpage, this was the response given: "With the COVID-19 pandemic continuing to impact communities and ports around the globe, we are working to determine our next course of action. While we evaluate the opportunity to resume with sailings, we have temporarily frozen voyages that might be impacted should we need to delay sailing further. Please bear with us. We will make a decision shortly and will provide information as it becomes available."
  16. And I would say, they are wrong. Perhaps when you were allowed to Lift and Shift there was some indication of customer consideration, but not now. You can only do that if RCG cancels. Otherwise, it costs you. I have an upcoming cruise on Oasis out of Bayonne in August. It was booked in Nov. of 2019 long before Covid19 was an issue. There has never been the opportunity to Lift and Shift this cruise; to cancel and rebook for August of 2022 would cost me TWICE what I am currently paying for my NRD GS (very few sailings next year are cheaper). Back in Nov of 2019, I moved my sailing by one week less than a week after I booked it in order to accommodate my granddaughter's softball schedule, so they added another $200 change fee to my $500 deposit. I will be out that money OR I can give them another $4,000+ and wait for them to cancel. They already have thousands of my dollars for sailings that did not happen and were lifted to 2022. RCG knows Bayonne is a no go for this summer, just like they knew the 11 and 12 night sailings on Anthem back in Jan of 2020 that those of us booked on 2 and 3 of those sailings, like myself, had to wait on even though their sailing was not going to be. It's time RCG started engaging in fair business practices. If they were US Flagged, requiring full payment for cruises that the government has already stated will not take place and reiterated just this past week would have them in court and paying some hefty fines.
  17. Given the recent statements by the CDC shouldn't RCG, like other cruise lines, either cancel or shorten the dates for final payments from 90 days prior to sailing to more like 45 from ports like Cape Liberty in New Jersey. Cruises from Bayonne have no chance of being opened up to cruise ship traffic this summer: In New Jersey, the number of new infections over the past month has risen by 37% In the past 2 weeks, New Jersey reported 647 new COVID-19 cases per 100,000 residents. New York has done only slightly better, averaging 548 new cases per 100,000 residents. Even though vaccination rates have accelerated, rising coronavirus infection rates in New Jersey and New York have made them the TOP TWO states for infections per capita The situation in New York and New Jersey is reflective of the national one, as case numbers have begun to rise. Two weeks ago the U.S. was averaging 54,000 new cases a day—now that number is 62,000, according to AP. At this point, continuing to act as though sailings from Cape Liberty this summer could possibly occur is at best a very weak and costly mask to currently booked passengers. It's time for RCG to show some consideration for its customers.
  18. I wonder if before there are any announcements about test cruises starting or revenue start up dates, there would be something forthcoming from the CDC. The CDC website is still advising against cruise ship travel. I find it difficult to believe that a cruise line would reveal any changes by the CDC BEFORE the CDC itself.
  19. When luxury cruise line Crystal Cruises resumes operations on its river and ocean sailings later this year, all of its passengers will be required to be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 at least two weeks prior to setting sail. The First Large-Ship Cruise Line Announces Vaccine Requirement (forbes.com) Apparently, there will be no exceptions, even for children not old enough to receive the vaccine.
  20. I received my doses at the local pharmacy and though I got one of those CDC cards, I actually got one of those prescription receipts for both shots and they are very detailed. I am keeping both as confirmation of having received my shots until if/when they are replaced with something different.
  21. If a vaccine is required, I will have to cancel my cruise on Oasis in August. I moved it to 2021 from 2020 and it is just my granddaughter and myself that would be boarding. She will be 11 at that time, Vaccines are now just beginning to be tested on 1 2-17 year olds and the results are supposedly at least a year out. Having that as a pre-boarding requirement will affect many families.
  22. I had a B2b on Anthem starting Jan 26th, 2020 with an 11 night, followed by the 8 night Bahamas out of Bayonne, New Jersey. Since I was already booked on the second and third 11 night sailings in 2022, I wanted to lift and shift the 2021 11 night to the first 11 night sailing in Jan of 2022 and then lift and shift the 8 night to follow my third 11 night sailing. Unfortunately, unlike 2021, the 2022 sailing that follows the 11 night sailings is a 9 night (RC had added a sea day to the same itinerary as 2021). Even though there was no 8 night option for 2022 that fit into the timeframe for L&S, RC denied it, no matter what supervisor I spoke with. I eventually wound up L&S to Odyssey out of Fort Lauderdale in March and added another 6night booking to make that a B2B -- I can't see flying down, hotel, etc. expenses for less that 14 nights. I was not happy.
  23. Be aware that if the cruise takes place, there may be additional screenings as disembarkation that would make getting to the airport for an early flight difficult at best.
  24. There are many people who vape on board now. The same rules insofar as the areas you are permitted to do so are the same for those vaping as those smoking cigarettes. Cigars can only be smoked in the outdoor areas. Keep your E liquids and your device either on you or packed in your carry on. It is easiest if the liquid is in an unopened bottle.
  25. This is true, but be aware that if you are reserving a balcony and paying the reduced single supplement, your Crown and Anchor balcony discount is reduced accordingly.
