  1. My wife said that today ... "I'll toss in jeans and sweatshirt just in case" ... the weather looks like high 60s and 70s up north so I'll still wear shorts, but a sweatshirt would be nice. ?
  2. Thank you for the information. I heard about the Titanic memorial, that is something my wife and I will be doing for sure. In regards to the whiskey/scotch bar, you just made two men VERY happy :).
  3. We have done this NJ to Bermuda run several years in a row with two friends who do it almost every year. The year you're talking about we didn't go due to a different vacation conflict (first world problems huh lol) but they still did. While they LOVE Bermuda and were disappointed about missing the island, they enjoyed the sailing and the port stops chosen. Even said "we would have never seen X if it wasn't for the redirect." As you mentioned you still got a vacation, that's an argument I have with a friend who has to make comments about me sailing during hurricane season. I tell him, my vacation isn't "ruined" I don't book just for the ports, I like the ship, being on the ocean, etc, etc ... but he doesn't care to hear it. One of those "I will not do it and I'm right so you're an idiot" kind of people at times, especially with his "opinions." Oh well, still a good friend, I just have to learn to ignore his ignorance. As I said prior, there are 14 of us (myself included) and my plan is to take it day by day. Right now Saturday looks like a great day for a pool and umbrella drinks before sail away!
  4. Welcome! Northeast here! Sailing out of Bayonne this Saturday 9/21 - 3rd time Anthem and 7th time to Bermuda. (Although Jerry might have other plans for us!)
  5. Luckily I rarely get sea sick, wife however will definitely spend time stuck in bed. Cheers to calm-ish seas and some pool weather. At least Saturday is supposed to be over 80°F. Great weather for a sail away.
  6. I'm on the same sailing (Anthem). Jerry is at least going to cause some fun sailing home from Bermuda. We shall see. I have a drink package and 13 friends onboard so, definitely worse places I could be :). Fingers crossed!
  7. We did it twice, if memory serves me correctly, there are enough lines that you should all be able to go together; that might take the edge off for him. The views alone are worth the money :).
  8. Yep. My sailing is Saturday, so those that rolled the dice or figured 30% will be back again missed out on the lowest possible price.
  9. For my upcoming cruise I snagged a 30% off for $49 a day. I bought it when it was buy one get one half off at $52 a day. When the 30% sale popped up it was a few clicks of the mouse and I got the lower price. Now, the same sailing, buy one get one half off is $56 a day. So, prices change. Definitely lock in the $52 price now while you can, it's a good price.
  10. Embrace it, wear wrinkles LOL Seriously though, in the beginning I'd send all my shirts for pressing then not wear some. I'll only consider press for formal night now. I iron at home and do my best to pack it safely. Worst case, as suggested, steam from shower and wrinkle release. Otherwise, it's embracing the wrinkles.
  11. Do you have one that you would recommend? Strong enough for a towel? (if not the bathroom door hooks would be fine).
  12. While in London my phone was in WiFi only mode and had no issues sending texts via the native app. I don't recall if the few texts received/sent were iPhone to Android or just Android to Android unfortunately. For reference I have a Pixel 2XL with Stock Android 9. Here is the messages app that comes with stock Android. Thinking back, not sure anyone was iPhone. Would be a fun and simple test. Android Messages app: Android Messages on Play Store
  13. I assumed on the ship. Maybe Paradise Point in St Thomas? Great views but it also might not be totally ideal (restaurant, little shop, etc). Also probably not there during sunset.
  14. Being Irish I put a base coat of lotion on before leaving the cabin ... If for some reason I use spray in the cabin it's on the balcony. As far as spray outdoors, I do it the same as I would at the beach ... Do my best not to spray anyone else but know it's sometimes unavoidable. Just keep moving with the wind LOL.
  15. Welcome & Congrats! An idea for something private if you have a balcony ... Maybe setup a bottle of champagne and some rose pedals leading to the table outside with the ring being displayed somehow. I did something like this in Vegas, my wife loved it as she wouldn't have wanted some big in public thing. For something more public ... I don't know the Harmony but know the Oasis from 2012. Sunset? Hmmm -- lots of outside spaces. I'd talk to the Cruise Director / Staff for help, they might even have a photographer set up. Good Luck!
  16. I'm purely guessing, but the second sounds like a driving tour (think a safari kinda thing). The first seems to be a walk around place. That would also explain the age restriction ... Car seats vs a big charter bus ride.
  17. I tried to make a Dark & Stormy after a friend raved about it; didn't turn out well. I'll give it a second chance later this month on Anthem! Also, the Rum Swizzle! I had that at the Swizzle Inn one visit to the island! Totally recommend both (drink and restaurant).
  18. Any with alcohol. A good rum punch gets my afternoon moving along quickly. ? This will be a fun thread to follow ... Starting a Google Doc now to jot down stuff to try ?
  19. I'll add Guinness Draught. If it's not on tap it needs to be poured from a can. It was that widget and whatnot :).
  20. On Explorer a bunch of the bars didn't have Guinness Draught and I was going from the Viking Crown to Pub to get one. After my second time doing this round trip I spoke to the bartender. They stocked a few cans in the Viking Crown for me. So, point, doesn't hurt to ask!
  21. Corona isn't my go-to beer but do enjoy a few in the sun. When not watching calories or carbs I'm more of a Guinness Draught person. I also enjoy Smithwicks, and other beers in the Guinness line up. I of course enjoy a variety of other beers but not going to list them all lol. I'm not a beer snob but do get snobby with how people incorrectly pour a Draught. I'm too polite and don't call them out, but if it results in a big head I'll not order another. Last few bars I've seen the same thing ... Put class under tap pull handle - eek - once it settles - pull handle again -eek - ... One I saw doing an angle, not perfectly but at least it was an angle. After it settled, she pulled the handle forward instead of pushing it back - ugh!
  22. Probably but I'm only having one or two then off to pool deck for rum drinks. They honestly might have limes at the cart, I'm a take it or leave it guy with the lime. I'm also not a big Corona drinker but enjoy them in the sun once in a while :). Oh, and last cruise on Anthem last September, they were cans lol.
  23. Not that I recall. He's just a plastic cart loaded with ice and drinks, a rolling cooler of sorts in the Windjammer LOL. The real bars will have limes of course.
  24. The very first thing I do once on-board is head straight for the Windjammer. The second thing I do (before finding a table) is find the man with the beer cart. Nothing says brunch like an ice cold corona!
