Would this make Alaskan cruises legal?
TXcruzer replied to RCIfan1912's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
I read on another board that these “technical stops” as the industry calls them, do not satisfy the PVSA -

I don’t think you have full understanding of the trade regulations and immigration issues in what you propose. The route you have described would be illegal for any of the major large cruise lines. -
Royal Caribbean to require crew to be vaccinated

Yes, if I don’t get the vaccine I can not practice at the hospital where I have for 30 years. -
Royal Caribbean to require crew to be vaccinated

At the risk of getting too far off topic, let me blow your mind. There is a massive healthcare system in my area. The require a “no smoking”pledge as a condition of employment. Annually everyone must submit to bloodwork and a health assessment. Nicotine positive on your blood work is cause for termination of employment. Employees must also where a 2 way communication fob on their uniform at all times while on the clock, this fob also records and reports their location in real time to a central hub. Point being, employers have a lot of influence over their employees. TX is an “at will” employment state as well. -
Royal Caribbean to require crew to be vaccinated
TXcruzer replied to Mike.s's topic in Royal Caribbean News and Rumors
No sir, this has been held up in federal court; your employer is completely within their rights to mandate this or any other vaccine they seem fit. The hospital I am on staff has a laundry list of vaccines that the staff must adhere to. -
Royal Caribbean to require crew to be vaccinated
TXcruzer replied to Mike.s's topic in Royal Caribbean News and Rumors
Symptomatic Covid in a vaccinated individual would be (in most instances) very mild, not requiring hospitalization, but just rest and fluids at home, and a speedy recovery. This is the purpose of a vaccine. No vaccines completely prevent disease. -
Royal Caribbean to require crew to be vaccinated

Yes, it works the same in Canada as everywhere else, being vaccinated prevents severe disease, hospitalization, intubation, and death as @SpeedNoodlesstated. -

And @twangster is saying “as this initial class of vaccine recipients gets further out from their shots, the data will change and the 3 month window will turn into 6,9.12.......months” If I may so bold as to speak for @twangster -
Cozumel -- Embarkation Port?
TXcruzer replied to DunkelBierJay's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
I don’t think this is realistic. They don’t have the money to try and “re invent the wheel” right now. It would be prohibitively expensive to just “try” a couple ships embarking in the Caribbean and the revenues would not offset the expense. -
Cozumel -- Embarkation Port?

For one thing Bridgetown has been an embarkation point for many years. The infrastructure has been built up over a decade or more. -
Cozumel -- Embarkation Port?
TXcruzer replied to DunkelBierJay's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
The test required to fly back into the country must be a lab run test, with lab report. I doubt the ships testing abilities will be able to satisfy this requirement. This brings to mind another question, does the island of Cozumel have the ability to process thousands of tests on debarkation day? Regarding supplies, Royal rarely (if ever) takes on any stores in a port of call. I have not been on every pier in Cozumel, but have experienced quite a few. I can’t recall any that were built In such a way that stocking a ship would be feasible. I agree with everything you are saying about the passport, but that doesn’t change the fact that MANY refuse to make the investment. just my 2 cents -
Cozumel -- Embarkation Port?
TXcruzer replied to DunkelBierJay's topic in Royal Caribbean Discussion
Without thinking too hard, here are a couple obstacles I think would pose a problem. The new CDC requirement for a negative Covid test prior to returning by air to the USA-how many will be willing to deal with finding a test in Cozumel and waiting for it before you fly home? A large percentage of cruisers to not hold a passport-this fact excludes a fair number of potential customers. Since Cozumel must bring nearly 100% of their own supplies from mainland Mexico, would it be economically feasible, or even possible, to handle the sheer volume of materials needed to stock even a midsize ship? -
Really unnecessary

My guess would be that Royal would disallow the mingle mask due to the fact that it had the same shortcomings as the disallowed items you quoted above from the website. Interesting information, thanks for sharing.

This "mask" would not be permitted to be worn in my hospital; it really does not appear to do any of the things that are important for a mask to do.

LOVE IT

I witnessed a very rowdy exchange between a traveler and TSA at DFW airport last week. Traveler felt a face shield alone was sufficient (no mask), they were escorted to the exit door, and not allowed back into the terminal. I assume a flight was missed.
